Today’s Bachmann Hit Job: Her Legislative Resume Is Thin

Another day, another article taking shots at Michelle Bachmann. These stories are not meant to influence liberals: we already know where they stand, and they would vote for Stalin if he was running on the DNC ticket. No, they are meant to influence middle of the road voters and squishy Republicans. Notice that there are very few hit pieces on Huntsman and Romney. But, Bachmann is an actual conservative, with a primarily conservative voting record, and she is, so far, doing very well in the polls for the GOP nomination, so, she must be destroyed

Rep. Michele Bachmann is surging in the GOP presidential polls and barnstorming Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, but as she sprints toward the front of the Republican pack, there’s a major hole in her political résumé: legislation.

Now in her third House term, Bachmann has never had a bill or resolution she’s sponsored signed into law, and she’s never wielded a committee gavel, either at the full or subcommittee level. Bachmann’s amendments and bills have rarely been considered by any committee, even with the House under GOP control. In a chamber that rewards substantive policy work and insider maneuvering, Bachmann has shunned the inside game, choosing to be more of a bomb thrower than a legislator.

One of the things that makes her popular is that she isn’t fully playing the insiders game up on Capital Hill. Instead, she is taking her message to the People. But, this reminds me of someone else

Of course, having a thin legislative résumé isn’t a dead end for a presidential run — Obama started running for president just two years into his Senate term and didn’t have a substantive list of congressional accomplishments.

Obama’s biggest accomplishments were….giving speeches outside of Capital Hill, then playing hide and seek when any tough vote came up. For Michelle, though, she is always in the mix

In terms of policy substance, Bachmann has pushed for a balanced-budget amendment and major cuts in spending and entitlement programs, including Medicare and Social Security. She has called for new oil drilling on federal lands and in Alaska, as well as greater use of nuclear power and clean energy. Bachmann has advocated large tax cuts, especially for private business, and she has backed legislation requiring congressional approval for all major federal regulations. (major snip)

Sachtleben added: “Perhaps her most important achievement in terms of votes cast was her unwavering consistency in voting against TARP, stimulus, cap and trade, Obamacare and the rest of the big-spending, job-destroying, deficit-busting bills that were put forth by the Democrat majority.”

Michelle also brings lots of actual private sector experience to the mix. She’s a good Conservative, and has gone out of her way to reach out to the TEA Party. She’s dynamic and exciting, and this worries the liberal media, but, mostly it worries the GOP insiders and squishes, the ones who would rather run a Democrat Lite candidate, rather then jumping in and backing Conservative principles. These are the same types of people who freaked out over Ronald Reagan, before his election and during his presidency. They’ll tell you about “electability”…..how’d that work with McCain? Bush just barely beat Gore. Bob Dole? These same squishes tend to ignore Democrat malfeasance, and spend most of their time attacking Conservatives, which is how we end up with so many wishy washy Republicans in Congress, willing to cross the aisle and take on Liberal causes.

Expect the caterwauling to continue to get worse as Bachmann continues to be one of the leaders for the GOP nomination.

More: Jammie Wearing Fool: “Between the pathetic media obsession over the John Wayne thing yesterday and this nonsense today we can safely say Bachmann is being Palinized.”

Legal Insurrection tears apart The Politico’s narrative.

Right Wing Extremist Taylor Marsh: “Bachmann won’t get the credit, but right-wing politics aside, she’s the first credible conservative female candidate in modern Republican Party history.” Obviously, Taylor is a good progressive, but, she actually gives Bachmann much more credit and fair treatment than a supposed Republican posting at (Liberals) Outside The Beltway does. Once again, Doug delves int0 CDS – Conservative Derangement Syndrome. It’s a shame the site has become a hive of Blue Dogism.

  1. Word says:

Isn’t it funny how the FAR LEFT progressive and their liberal MSM media lackeys demand moderation from the Right and conservatives.

The left and their MSM lackeys are redefining what is mainstream. They are attempting to put into play far left mantra as not far left at all. In fact they are trying to mainstream the far left agenda in order to force the right to beseech their own party to move to the middle………

Which is actually moving to the left. How ingenious of them.

And that is my word of the day.

  2. Some excellent points, Word. And the Republican squishes follow right along, and push the GOP farther to the left.

  3. david7134 says:

So her credentials are the same as Obama’s. This makes her inappropriate to be president??

Have you heard the arguement that has lately been introduced that because she endorses the views and values of the founders that she is in favor of slavery? I think Chris Mathews threw that out.

  4. Trish says:

HER legislation is lacking? Where were these same hacks, when NMP was running? Oh, that’s right, their heads were so far up his A$$ they couldn’t tell what the hell was going on in the real world. So happy that they can see again, too bad their vision is so completely myopic and partisan.

  5. The media, and wishy washy Republicans, are all rather nuts, David. Which is kinda funny, because they call Bachmann a flake.

Yeah, but Trish, he was running on his “judgement” or something
