These American rights groups never miss an opportunity to defend foreigners, but, I wonder, would they do this if Biden or Kamala were president? Actually, yes. They sued Obama multiple times for drone strikes in foreign nations which killed American citizens who were fighting with ISIS and al Qaeda. Because groups like the ACLU are nuts

Rights groups sue administration for release of memo justifying boat strikes

A group of civil rights advocacy organizations filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the Trump administration, seeking the release of a legal memo and other documents related to lethal U.S. military strikes on boats suspected of trafficking drugs from Latin America.

The complaint alleges that the nearly two dozen boat strikes carried out since September are illegal and that the public deserves to see how President Donald Trump’s administration has justified them. The strikes have killed at least 87 people.

“The public deserves to know how our government is justifying the cold-blooded murder of civilians as lawful and why it believes it can hand out get-out-of-jail-free cards to people committing these crimes,” Jeffrey Stein, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union, one of the plaintiffs, said in a statement Tuesday.

The ACLU, the New York Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. According to the complaint, the groups filed a freedom of information request with several federal agencies on Oct. 15 seeking the release of a legal opinion from the White House’s Office of Legal Counsel. The Washington Post reported that the memo argued the country is in a “non-international armed conflict” with unspecified “drug cartels.”

Last time I checked, none of the drug runners were American citizens. Certainly not citizens of the State of New York. None of them have Constitutional rights. The whole thing is wild that Liberals/Democrats are hanging their hats on defending foreign drug smugglers.

Saying drugs are not bad because Trump is blowing up foreign drug running boats is a hell of a take.

Austria Moving Ahead With Plans To Ban Headscarves In Schools

Austrian government presses ahead with planned headscarf ban in schools

Austria’s governing coalition said on Tuesday it plans to pass a ban on headscarves in schools for girls under 14, despite criticism from rights groups and the possibility that the Constitutional Court could overturn it.

The conservative-led government took office in March after the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) came first in last year’s parliamentary election with around 29% of the vote, but could not find a coalition partner to govern with.

The coalition of three centrist parties has made fighting illegal immigration a central pillar of its program, a move that critics say fuels anti-Muslim sentiment.

The lower house is due this week to discuss the legislation that would introduce the ban.

“It is not a measure against a religion. It is a measure to protect the freedom of girls in this country,” Yannick Shetty, the parliamentary leader of the liberal Neos party, told a joint press conference with his counterparts from the two other government parties.

It’s a drop in the bucket for issues from the Islamists, but, maybe it’s a start.

The Constitutional Court struck down a similar ban for girls under 10 in 2020 because it targeted Muslims. Going against the principle that the state must be religiously neutral would require a special justification, the court ruled at the time.

Maybe it’s simply time to deport them all. But, most European countries are lost at this point.

Wacko Leftist Judge Says Trump Admin Cannot Halt All Wind Projects

A federal judge on Monday struck down an order by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to halt all federal approvals for new wind energy projects, saying that agencies’ efforts to implement his directive were unlawful and arbitrary.

Agencies including the U.S. Departments of the Interior and Commerce and the Environmental Protection Agency have been implementing a directive to halt all new approvals needed for both onshore and offshore wind projects pending a review of leasing and permitting practices.

Siding with, opens new tab a group of 17 Democratic-led states and the District of Columbia, U.S. District Judge Patti Saris in Boston said those agencies had failed to provide reasoned explanations for the actions they took to carry out the directive Trump issued on his first day back in office on January 20.

They could not lawfully under the Administrative Procedure Act indefinitely decline to review applications for permits, added Saris, who was appointed by Democratic President Bill Clinton.

One question would be whether the judges has far exceeded her mandate per the SCOTUS decision in Trump v. CASA, with federal judges not allowed to make sweeping, nationwide rulings/injunctions. That rulings would only apply to their own districts, unless in small cases where it is “class action.” Would this be class action? Is there any law requiring the Executive Branch to approve the permits? Or just the judge’s feeling?

Seriously, is there a law that states that stopping permit approval processing needs a big reason? What if the Trump admin just simply goes through the approval process and denies them all? I wonder if the judge has a financial stake in one of those projects?

Trump administration moves to revoke key permit from another offshore wind project proposed near Mass.

More than a year after the Biden administration issued the final permit for a pair of proposed offshore wind projects near Massachusetts, the Trump administration is trying to take it back.

On Tuesday, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. to “remand,” or reconsider, its approval of the construction and operations plan for the projects, New England Wind 1 and 2. The plan is the last major permit an offshore wind project needs to begin construction.

The motion is the latest move by the Trump administration to target the offshore wind industry in the U.S., and it comes just a few weeks after a federal judge in a different, but similar, case ruled that the government could take a second look at the construction and operations plan it approved for SouthCoast Wind, a proposed wind project also near Massachusetts.

The federal government’s motion to reconsider New England Wind’s permit says its prior approval “may have” failed to account for all of the project’s impacts. The filing cited a relatively new interpretation of the federal law known as the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act that changes the criteria to evaluate offshore wind projects.

Well, that looks like an “adequate reason.” How about opposition in many cases from those who live near or fish there? From environmentalists? I have no problem with wind projects, in certain cases, but, really, they do not provide as much power as you think for the cost, and, tons of the federal money in “loans” ends up being graft and waste. Slush funds. How many “green” projects have been utter failures, but, saw a lot of money flow into people’s pockets, then back to Democrats. How about this? Audit them all. See exactly where the money went, how it was spent. Then we can talk.

Bummer: Climate (scam) Grifters See Layoffs As Bill Gates Money Dries Up

Climate change nonprofit announces layoffs as Bill Gates money dries up

The Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs (CRCJ), a nonprofit that combined labor unions and environmental activist groups to advocate for growing jobs through building Connecticut’s green infrastructure, announced that it would begin layoffs for its small staff of four, according to an announcement by Roundtable Board Chair John Harrity.

“After extensive discussion and careful review of our current financial realities, we have made the difficult decision to initiate staff layoffs effective December 5, 2025,” Harrity wrote on the organization’s website. “This is not a decision we came to lightly. As a small nonprofit committed to climate justice and worker justice, we take seriously the responsibility to steward our resources with transparency and integrity.”

Reached for comment, Harrity said CRCJ primarily relied on grants that have dried up in the current political climate, particularly after billionaire Bill Gates’ foundation pulled back on funding organizations focused on climate change; it had a trickle-down effect to smaller organizations like CRCJ.

“It’s sort of a chain reaction. One organization depended on climate safety grants, for instance, from Bill Gates as part of their funding to fund state groups, and Bill Gates has withdrawn most of his funding from climate change organizations,” Harrity said. “The grants ran out and unfortunately in the current climate there’s less money available for social justice organizations and there’s nothing from the federal government that’s helpful at all, so we just didn’t have the money to sustain staff.”

So, are they a climate (scam) group or a social justice group? Yes. It’s all together, just a bunch of hard left beliefs put together, grifting and producing pretty much nothing of benefit, nothing that creates product or anything that generates revenue.

The CRCJ began in 2012 as a project of the CT AFL-CIO, an umbrella organization for trade unions and public employee unions, and the Inter-Religious Eco-Justice Network (IREJN) “to educate and strengthen collaborations between labor, religious, environmental, and community leaders concerned about the challenge of mitigating climate change while creating good-paying jobs as part of a sustainable economy,” according to their website.

Um, what? I read the words but I do not speak Comrade, even after all these years. I do like the part about “Inter-Religious Eco-Justice Network.” Cult.

The group has been active in state politics and legislation for more than a decade, with past and present members testifying on bills and serving on climate-related committees and sub-committees, like the Governor’s Council on Climate Change, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Basically, advocating for Government to crack down on Citizens. It’d be great if they all went away.

Idiot Senate Republicans Go Idiot Over Boat Strike Video

Congress to withhold Pentagon travel funds until it sees boat strike videos

Congress is using its marquee defense bill to force the Pentagon into turning over videos of strikes against suspected drug-smuggling boats off the coast of Latin America.

Lawmakers plan to withhold a quarter of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s travel budget until the Pentagon provides them with the videos. The demand, quietly tucked into the final draft of the annual defense policy bill, calls for “unedited video of strikes conducted against designated terrorist organizations in the area of responsibility of the United States Southern Command” to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees.

Congressional leaders released their final draft of the defense bill Sunday, which is expected to be approved — without changes — by the House later this week and then the Senate. (snip)

Bradley and Joint Chiefs Chair Dan Caine last week briefed top lawmakers on national security committees and showed the unedited footage of the operation. But lawmakers disagreed about what the video revealed. Some top Republicans who viewed the unedited footage contend it vindicates the administration’s position. Democrats have called on the Pentagon to release it more broadly.

Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), following the briefing, also said he wants rank-and-file committee members to see the footage.

Democrats are caterwauling about striking foreign drug runners, something most Americans agree with, and Republicans, instead of saying “piss off, take the side of Americans” are giving Democrats what they want.

(NY Times) Mr. Reed (top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee) said that he and Senator Roger Wicker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, had given Mr. Hegseth “more than enough time to respond in good faith to reasonable questions,” but that the defense secretary “has refused.”

The two senators had warned in October that the Pentagon was skirting Congress as it continued to ramp up the campaign against alleged drug traffickers at sea. They made public two letters sent to Mr. Hegseth demanding more information on the strikes, saying the secretary had failed to respond.

Well, we’ll see if the Republicans in the House and Senate buy into this crap, or if they tell Dems and squishes like Wicker to go pound sand, to put it nicely. Too often Republicans go squish because the Credentialed Media is being mean, and then we end up with things like “not another dime” and Republican voters staying home during elections.

“Experts Say” Bristol, UK Soon Doom From Frightening Sea Rise

Experts issue warning about looming threat to historic city: ‘It’s quite frightening’

Sea-level rise is threatening a historic city in England, with projections indicating significant flooding risks for low-lying areas within the foreseeable future.

As reported by Bristol 24/7, the city of Bristol, England, is already bracing for the impacts of continued sea-level rise. Not only will the encroaching waters threaten prominent industries and leisure activities, but a large portion of the city’s population may have to dramatically alter their lives.

“It’s quite frightening,” environment committee chair and Green councillor Martin Fodor said.

In 2024, Bristol took the brunt of a couple of severe storms, resulting in significant flooding and damaged property. Heavy rains and strong winds from storms Henk and Bert caused mass power outages and major disruptions across England.

In a recent study from the World Meteorological Organization, researchers noted that 2024 saw a global mean near-surface temperature of 1.55 ± 0.13 °C above the 1850-1900 average. The increase in temperatures is now increasing the risk of extreme weather events, such as stronger storms and more devastating floods.

“Data for 2024 show that our oceans continued to warm, and sea levels continued to rise. The frozen parts of Earth’s surface, known as the cryosphere, are melting at an alarming rate: Glaciers continue to retreat, and Antarctic sea ice reached its second-lowest extent ever recorded. Meanwhile, extreme weather continues to have devastating consequences around the world,” WMO Secretary-General Celeste Saulo said in a press release.

Storms and flooding have always happened, and always will. As far as sea level rise goes, I could use Fair Use laws and excerpt the entire article to highlight the point that nowhere within this article, reproduced at Yahoo News from The Cool Down has any data on how much the sea is actually rising in the Bristol, UK area! None!

Nor does that original cited article from Bristol 24/7. Having actual data on how much the sea is rising would be rather important, would it not, to understand any potential doom? The average height of Bristol above sea level is 36 feet, though, you can see from the topographic map where it is low lying with connections to the Bristol Channel, but, really, not much danger at all.

There’s, surprisingly, no actual gauges truly measuring the Bristol Sea area. I would have thought there would at least be something for Cardiff or Swansea. The closest is Newlyn, which is 1.94, .64 feet of sea rise per 100 years.  Newlyn is 1.94mm, gets you .64 per 100 years. Holyhead, a bit further up the west coast of the UK,  shows 2.36mm a year, equivalent to .77 feet of sea rise per 100 years. In fact, all the gauges for the UK, which, in fairness, have either been shut down or the data is no longer being shared with NOAA (I have a feeling that NOAA stopped bothering in 2022, seeing the same stop in 2022 for around the world), show less than one foot per 100 years, some way less, and a typical Holocene warm period should see at least 1 foot, if not more. All we’re really seeing elsewhere are “projections” but no base data.

Regardless, we see from the article that the climate cult is shady as fuck, failing to provide any true data, just fearmongering.

Garbage Hill: Dems Still Caterwauling Over Drug Runner Boat Strikes

It’s wild how Democrats have tied their fortunes to defending foreign drug runners

Democratic lawmakers press for transparency over ‘double tap’ strike

Democratic lawmakers on Sunday continued to sound the alarm over allegations that military leaders called for a “double tap” strike on an alleged drug boat, intentionally killing the two survivors of an earlier attack.

Rep. Adam Smith (Wash.) called for accountability while Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.) demanded video of the strikes be released. Sen. Adam Schiff (Calif.) called the strikes “unconstitutional,” and Sen. Tammy Duckworth (Ill.) called the strikes “murder.”

“Everything that they’ve done has been illegal. It’s illegal under international law. It’s illegal under the Geneva Convention. And it certainly is illegal under domestic law,” Duckworth told CNN’s State of the Union. “It was essentially murder with that double tap strike.”

The boats are in international waters. And, actually, international law and the Geneva Convention kind of allow it.

They might as well be pirates, and they wear no uniforms. They’ve been designated as a terrorist organization. International law and the Geneva Convention allows for foreign fighters wearing no uniforms to be summarily killed. It’s why many Somali pirate boats are fired upon and even destroyed

The Pentagon has come under fire after reporting from The Washington Post alleged that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth authorized a deadly second strike to kill all remaining survivors on a Venezuelan boat allegedly carrying drugs in international waters. POLITICO has not independently verified the Post’s reporting.

Hegseth on Saturday defended the second Sept. 2 strike, saying the attackers were not fully neutralized. “From what I understood then and what I understand now, I fully support that strike,” Hegseth said at the Reagan National Defense Forum. “I would have made the same call myself.”

Still pitching that lying, anonymously sourced hit piece, Politico, which even the NY Times said was false?

Rep. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) on Sunday defended Hegseth, telling ABC’s “This Week” that a majority of Americans “support us blowing narco-terrorists out of the water in the Caribbean who are trying to poison Americans.”

Thing is, not all get blown up. The Coast Guard recently seized a boat with approximately $74 million worth of cocaine. And many other boats have been captured rather than blown up. The strikes, which occur at night, seem designed to scare off drug runners, while if it’s day they are seized and captured.

“I have way more sympathy for my friends, my cousins, my neighbors, those people who’ve been poisoned by these narco terrorists, people who’ve been skinned alive by these cartels that they bring people to the United States than I do for these narco terrorists,” Schmitt said.

And there is the issue: Democrats have decided to take the side of the drug runners and cartels rather than the American people, much like with illegal aliens/fake asylum seekers.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he would support releasing the footage. His administration has repeatedly defended the boat strikes, which have killed more than 80 people since September, as an attempt to protect Americans from being killed by what he has called narco-terrorists.

There are around 7,100 monthly drug overdose deaths in the U.S. Mostly not from cocaine, more like fentanyl. So, 80 dead drug runners is meaningless. But, Democrats care more about them then Americans.

Hey, perhaps we could capture the boats and sell the cocaine outside of the US and use the proceeds to fund support for US veterans. Would Dems be OK with that?

PRC Now Bans Use Of Reusable Plastic Bags

They really want to increase the killing of trees in the People’s Republik Of California

California escalates its war on plastic grocery bags, banning even ‘reusable’ versions

Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, grocery, pharmacy, liquor and convenience stores in California will not be able to provide any single-use thin plastic bags or even “reusable” plastic film bags. (note: many stores will still be allowed to use them, like some restaurants and retailers. I’m sure they’re next on the hit list)

The updated law stems from Senate Bill 270, which was first introduced in 2014. It previously allowed the use of reusable bags — which were made of a thicker plastic.

Senate Bill 1053 now “eliminates the distribution of thicker film plastic bags.”

As opposed to “single use” bags, thicker plastic bags could be reused up to 125 times, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Recycled paper bags may be offered to shoppers in the Golden State, but they must be “sold for not less than 10 cents.” People on specific food programs may be available to get these for free.

I have many reusable bags for Lidl, since they do not have any others but paper. I have a few of those, but, do not like using them, no handles. And I use the reusable till dead. Then they go to the recycling center, because I may not be a Warmist, but, I do what I can for the environment. I also have a few cloth ones.

It’s a win for environmentalists, who argue that the proliferation of thick plastic bags in the years since the ban has made the state’s plastic pollution worse. Murray said the heavy-duty bags “exploded” in California during the early months of the pandemic, when reusable bags were temporarily banned at some stores. In 2022, the tonnage of plastic grocery and merchandise bags discarded in California was 47% higher than the year the ban was passed, according to a CalPIRG report. 

Plastic pollution is bad, I agree, but, a lot of these bans are overdone, heavy handed, and are backed by the climate cult.

One reason for the jump is that very few of the theoretically reusable bags are actually brought back to grocery stores, said Judith Enck, a former Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator who’s now the president of advocacy group Beyond Plastics.

“There must be one person” who regularly reuses their bags, Enck said. But “most people” discard them after a single trip to the grocery store.
