Happy Monday

Jody at Steal the Bandwagon has a bonnie game to play today.

Ok, here’s a quick fun game to play. Pick someone newer to blogging and post a quick link to them, then trackback here (to Jody, though you can trackback me, too :D). Make sure to visit the link I post and then go through the trackbacks (yeah, I’m MAKING everyone play) and visit someone else there (and make sure to visit their link too!). If you’re a new (3 months blogging or less!) blogger, then go ahead, post your link and trackback too! It’ll be fun! It’ll be great! And now I won’t have to worry about posting something until tonight! :)

This is alot harder then you think, finding someone less then 3 months old. Checked a bunch of different places, then finally found:

Down for Repairs

who I do not check out enough from Basil’s Blog Warriors roll. Bad me.

The HDTV thing

OK, so I got my new HDTV a few weeks ago using points accumulated for a sales contest. A nice 30" Toshiba widescreen. I was psyched. Movies looked great, got the component cables to hook up the XBOX, which bump it to 480p, though, I found out that my cheap Audiovox portable with composite cables is almost just as good. Then I got a view of the resolution for regular tv viewing. Not good. Very pixalated, and, well, crappy. Even 1080i wasn’t that great. Had Time Warner cable out to check it, they said that they needed to run a whole new line into my building. Bummer.

But, wait a moment. There is actually a simple fix for this, I found out. The on-screen settings for the output formats were only set to 1080i, not 480i, 480p, and 720p. So, I turned the other 3 on. Makes a WORLD of difference. Channel resolution is now where it should be. I had been getting a little pissed off, let me tell you. Timer Warner cable should take note of this.

I can now watch my normal shows at pretty decent resolution, better then with a regular tv. Plus, all the nature shows I like. And Benny Hill. And Futurama. The true high def channels? WOW. Watching the Dodgers hit a grand slam in HD is incredible, especially in widescreen, plus even the sound is better. And some of the nature shows in HD are intense.

You need to get one of these.

Bush in the Netherlands: a Moonbats view

Yes, it is sorta blogless Sunday, but, I cannot ignore this one. Apparently, on of the Daily Kos’s resident moonbats has a problem with not only President Bush’s (I never get tired of writing that!) visit to the Netherlands, but the War on Terror.

Via the Ap, we hear about Bush’s visit to the Netherlands yesterday to honor Americans who died in the “fight against tyranny”:

Was there a particular reason for Platonium Page to put those words in quotes? Nomally, I would chalk it up to highlighting the phrase, but this is one of the ultimate moonbats blogs. Maybe I am just reading too much into it. But, I seriously doubt it. Remember, these are the same folks who often state that the Holocost never happened.

Obviously, Bush likes to equate his War on Terrorâ„¢ in Iraq with the liberation of Europe from the Nazis.

What’s with the use of “TM”? We have all seen the leftazoids say that the War on Terror is really just a “bunch of Bush booga booga.” It isn’t real for them. It is all fake, just a reason for Bush to steal oil. Many of the nuttier ones believe Bush was behind 9/11. They will not discuss, ever, the fact that so many of the “insurgents” and “freedom fighters” killed in Iraq are NOT Iraqi’s. They are Jordanians, Syrians, Iranians, Palestinians, etc. They are terrorists, and we are enticing them into Iraq, rather then Mainstreet America. We have chosen the place to fight, rather then vice versa. One of the old doctrines of warfare, going back to David vs. Goliath, is to fight on the battlefield of your choosing.

It is a losing debate for the Democratic Party. Really, it is 10-20% of the voters who elect Presidents. The folks in the middle. These are the people that President Bush was looking to get votes from during the 2004 election cycle. Captain Ed writes:

Kerry has done everything but make an official announcement to show that he intends on forcing the Democrats to relive 2004, only this time he won’t have the luxury of riding on Bush-hatred to keep his polling numbers up. (emphasis mine)

Image hosting by Photobucket In terms of 2008, this could really be applied to any potential Democratic candidates, including Hillary. There will be no Bush to hate. Even if the candidates realize that they need to run a positive campaign, and play to the middle ground voters, the other party leaders, as well as all their 527’s, blogs, activists, etc, will put out the same type of rhetoric and insanity as they did during 2004. This is not a winning combination for the Dems. Damn. Too bad. What do you think, Morbo? (click for large image)

Weekend Survey from Right Thinking Girl

Right Thinking Girl has her Weekend Survey #10 up, thought I would answer, it’s a good one.

1. If you were a writer, what kinds of books would you write? I would write Science Fiction novels set just a little bit in the future, like 10-30 years, kinda like Michael Marshall Smith does.

2. Do you expect to ever be famous in your lifetime? If yes, what do you expect to be famous for? I might possibly be famous, and, if so, it will probably be preceded by the words "Hey, y’all. Watch this." I’d like to be famous for being the one that pushes the GOP into taking Nancy Pelosi’s ass in front of the Ethics Committee, and taking her down.

3. Say something liberal. My viewpoints on the environment are actually rather liberal. I believe in conservation as well as wise use, and tend to agree on quite a bit of the Democrats stances on the environment. If you want something Demaloon, then I would say "Bush sucks." Cause that is all they have.

4. Say something conservative. Our elected officials should be telling us what to do after elected (that is truly Classical Conservative.)

5. What did you dream about last night? Sorry, I tend to write no more then R rated :) Actually, I remember a little bit about walking along a nice trail.

6. What have you read this week? Include everything: magazines, emails, blogs, books, etc. About 200 work and personal emails, 13 resumes and pre-screening forms, as well as the in person interview forms. Every blog on my blog rolls at least once, still reading "Crown of Slaves" by David Webber. Almost done, it’s a slow read. Lots of news sites and sports sites. Golf Magazine. Lots of work related documents, including on international roaming and wireless email. A bunch of contracts.

7. Tell me about your worst date ever. Let’s see. That would be meeting this girl one night, and inviting her to one of these huge parties at my apartment while at ECU. We went out and grabbed a nice dinner before hand. Things got kind, well, you know. And we kinda, well, you know. Then I found out she was dating one of my Fraternity pledges, who also happened to be the singer in the band I was in. I hadn’t ever met her or seen her till then. Yup.

8. Name three of your bad habits and three of your good habits. Smoking, sitting on my ass on the PC to long, leaving crap everywhere (not dirty stuff, just stuff). Rarely drink caffiene, get lots of sun, reading books.

9. Tell me something you’re very proud of. My ability to fix things. All sorts of things.

10. Give me a piece of wisdom that I should pass on to Parker Grace (who is now twelve weeks old). There is a time to act on feelings and a time to act on facts. The trick is to know when to act on the correct one. See the modern Democratic Party and it’s "leadership" to see how to do it wrong.

Nancy is still loony

"The president’s rationale for the invasion was discredited long ago. Iraq is still not safe," House Minority Leader wackjob Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said.

Gee, Nancy, perhaps you could have commented on the actual Bill that came out of the House. It is no mystery that comdenation and hatred for President Bush is all the Dem leadership has. I wonder where we stand on occupation with some of our other military adventures?

  • Iraq (Bush): 2 years  and counting
  • Kosovo (Clinton): 4 years and counting
  • Bosnia (Clinton): 8 years and counting
  • Haiti (Clinton): 2 years
  • Somalia (Bush/Clinton): 2 years
  • Japan (Roosevelt): 57 years and counting
  • Germany (Roosevelt): 57 years and counting

57 years? Bring our troops home! Bosnia? Ok, if we go by the Dems thinking, no military deaths. OF course, we aren’t actually doing much due to the UN leadership. And Bosnia sure isn’t safe.

I’m just wondering if anyone has read anything positive on any Moonbat sites, the Kos/DU/MoveOn style ones. I sure haven’t.
