You heard it here first (or almost first: I got it posted before even Drudge):
French voters rejected the European Union‘s first constitution Sunday, early government results showed — a stinging repudiation of the ambitious, decades-long effort to further unite the 25-nation bloc.
With about 83 percent of the votes counted, the referendum was rejected by 57.26 percent of voters, the Interior Ministry said. The treaty was supported by 42.74 percent, the ministry said.
How quick does Chirac blame the British or throw out the results?
More from CNN. Pretty good explanation of why the Referendum went down:
"I voted ‘No’ in all conscience, having read the text, due to the lack of will to solve Europe’s number one problem today, which is unemployment," said Armel Bompart, 52, a civil servant also voting in Strasbourg, home to the European parliament.
"I voted ‘Yes’ because I think Europe is important," Julie Lacour, 21, a student voting in Strasbourg in eastern France, told Reuters. "It’s been 60 years that we’ve been trying to construct Europe. Now we must keep going forward and not go backwards."
So, the one who voted No did it after research and consideration, much like why people voted for "Still the President" Bush. The one who voted Yes did so as a gut feeling with no real facts.

I rarely discuss conversations that I have had on the political forum I frequent, since it is somewhat like Vegas: what goes on there stays on there. However, there was an interesting discussion, which has sort of being on again off again for years, regarding the United f’ing Nations. All I simply wanted to know is why the Left supports the UN, despite the atrocities that the UN has been involved in, including the Oil For Food Scandal, sex and drugs parties, sexual abuse of children, turning a blind eye while 800,000 Rwandans were slaughtered, graft, bribery, allowing serial human rights abusing countries like Sudan on the Human Rights Commission, and so on.
The basic answer I got was lots of cut and pastes regarding the UN having "done good" in the past, and that they still do good. Followed almost immediately by standard "you lost" BS from the Left-side posters. I think that Tom at Hamstermotor has a pretty good grasp on the Left:

Why? As shown on previous occasions, Muslims don’t. Here is another example:
A powerful bomb exploded early Friday at a religious gathering at a Muslim shrine in Islamabad, killing at least 19 worshipers and injuring dozens.

If everyone would look over at the left sidebar, there is a little counter that measures how long the Huffington Post has been hotlinking photo’s. How high can it go?

McQ at Questions and Observations is discussing the do nothing 109th Congress. Read the whole thing, but let me excerpt this:
While the 109th Congress is a case study in ineptitude, it could redeem itself and the Republican party by putting forth a comprehesive and workable border security provision.
This next excerpt from WRAL should be part of the clue to Congress to "get ‘er done":
A 17-year-old Lake Worth teenager charged with raping an 8-year-old girl and leaving her for dead at an abandoned landfill is in the United States illegally, officials determined.
But Milagro Cunningham, a Bahamian native, escaped the notice of immigration authorities after three burglary arrests last year because his cases were handled in the juvenile justice system.
Need I say more?

In a slight breach of etiquette, GWB skipped the triple dare and went right for the throat:
U.S. Rep. John "Randy" Kuhl, R-29th, doesn’t know if President George W. Bush has given him one of his infamous nicknames, but if he has, it might involve "lollipop."
Kuhl, who traveled with the president to the Rochester suburb of Greece Tuesday, said people generally try not to embarrass themselves in front of Bush. Unfortunately, Kuhl said he, along with congressmen Sherwood Boehlert, R-24th, and Thomas Reynolds, R-26th, couldn’t avoid it.
According to Kuhl, after lunch frozen raspberry fruit bars were served up. Kuhl, Boehlert and Reynolds all licked their treats, but the president bit into his.
"That’s when I realized it was very cold, too cold to lick, and my tongue was sticking to the lollipop," Kuhl said. "I don’t know if it was intentional to slow down the conversation, but here we were with the leader of the free world and all our tongues are stuck to lollipops."
"Holy cow, it’s the cops. Look, it’s the fire department" :)
