And Now Debbie Wasserman Schultz Evades Obama

Add Debbie Downer to the long list of Democrats running from Obama policies

(Bloomberg) Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Wednesday refused to associate Democratic Senate candidates with President Barack Obama’s policies.

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough repeatedly asked Wasserman Schultz if votes for Democrats would be votes for the continuation of Obama’s policies. Wasserman Schultz, a representative from South Florida, became the latest in a long line of Democrats to point out that Obama is not up for election this year.

“Barack Obama was on the ballot in 2012 and 2008,” Wasserman Schultz said.

Pressed further, she did not refute that Democratic candidates align with Obama’s policies, but also refused to affirm it. Asked again, she said that votes for Democrats would be votes for “candidates who are focused on creating jobs.”

Maybe we should instead call her “Debbie Deflection”.

Funny thing is, neither Charles nor David Koch are on the ballot, yet Dems are constantly bringing them uo.

South Florida Politicians Want To Split Florida, Create 51st State, Do To “Climate Change”

I wonder if they’ve given up their own use of fossil fuels themselves?

(Washington Times) Several politicians in South Florida, frustrated by what they perceive as a lack of attention from the higher-ups on the political chain regarding climate change, said they want to form a new state.

The Sun-Sentinel reported that the mayor of South Miami as well as members of the South Miami City Commission have called for a legal separation from Florida and the permission to form the nation’s 51st state.

The new state would be called South Florida, First Coast News reported. And it’s all due to the threat of rising sea levels, and the reported failure of northern politicians to properly address the scenario, the southern politicos say.

“It’s very apparent that the attitude of the northern part of the state is that they would just love to saw the state in half and just let us float off into the Caribbean,” South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard said, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Vice Mayor Walter Harris proposed the resolution to secede and form a separate state just a few days ago — and it passed the city commission with a 3-2 margin.

The northern-most counties of the newly proposed state include Brevard, Orange, Polk, Hillsborough and Pinellas — mostly from Orlando on down, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The new state would span 24 counties.

Interesting, because these areas, particularly on the coasts, use a lot of energy and a lot of fossil fuels. Will “South Florida” agree to give up their use of fossil fuels? How about air conditioning? The huge number of pools? How about all the tourist spots? My guess is “no”.

You can read the resolution here.

Thom Tillis Debates Empty Chair As Kay Hagan Misses Debate

Interestingly, I can’t find a story about this at WRAL, WNCN, WTVD, the three big TV networks in the Raleigh area, nor at the News and Observer, North Carolina’s major newspaper for the capital city

(Breitbart) Amid ongoing questions about her family’s apparent stimulus benefits, numerous Armed Services Committee hearing absences, and Ebola flip-flops, Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) did not show up at the fourth and final debate in the U.S. Senate race Tuesday evening.

With Hagan absent and nothing but an empty chair to face her opponent, North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis spent an hour taking questions from two local reporters and voters.

The debate amounted to more of a long-form interview, which revisited many of the issues Tillis and Hagan have already discussed from the minimum wage to Ebola, equal pay for women and climate change, the economy, ISIS, and Hagan’s absences from the Armed Services Committee hearings.

Leading up to the debate, in which Hagan declined to participate, the North Carolina Republican Party sent out hourly updates counting down to the debate Hagan would not attend with questions they would like to see her answer and highlighted that her schedule would likely allow her to make it to the debate.

I’m sure that the empty chair will somehow be deemed “sexist”, and Tillis will be blamed, despite the chair being placed there by the people running the debate. An empty chair is perfect for Kay, who votes with Obama 96% of the time.

There are also a few polls, one which looks good for Kay on the surface

(WRAL) Democratic U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan holds a narrow lead over Republican challenger Thom Tillis with only two weeks left until the Nov. 4 election, according to an exclusive WRAL News poll released Tuesday.

SurveyUSA polled 568 likely voters across North Carolina between last Thursday and Monday and found that, if the election were held now, Hagan would capture 46 percent of the vote, compared with 43 percent for Tillis. Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh was favored by 6 percent of respondents, while 5 percent remain undecided.

The margin of error is 4.2. Here’s where it gets dicey for Kay

Hagan, who is seeking a second six-year term, holds an 11-point lead over Tillis among female voters and a 14-point lead among voters ages 18 to 34. Tillis, the speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives, holds an 8-point edge among voters ages 65 and older and a 17-point lead among white voters, who compose the bulk of those surveyed.

Holding the edge with seniors is a big deal, because they are the ones who traditionally come out to vote more than young folks during midterms. Furthermore, 40% of respondents stated that the economy is the most important issue, with Tillis holding the lead on Hagan 54 to 37%. I guess we’ll see in November.

Being Asked If She Voted For Obama Is Bullying, Says Alison Lundergan Grimes

Democrats are running away from Obama all over the place this election cycle, and Alison Grimes (D), running against Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, has been one of the leaders, refusing again and again to say whether she voted for Barack Obama. And, she says asking is “bullying”

(Daily Caller) “Kentucky is ready for a senator that’s an independent thinker, that can put the partisanship aside and actually fight for the people for this state,” Grimes said in a campaign speech. “One that won’t be bullied by Mitch McConnell or Chuck Todd. We can do this Kentucky!”

Todd, the new host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” likely earned Grimes’ ire for his statement that she had “disqualified” herself for refusing multiple times to say whether or not she had voted for President Barack Obama. His comments earned him a starring role in a McConnell campaign ad, much to his chagrin.

That’s gotta be like a fastball to the groin for Obama, to know that people asking if someone voted for him is “bullying”.

But, hey, good news, she’s an independent thinker! One who can’t answer a simple question. How is she going to handle the tough questions and votes if she manages to pull out a win? She plays the fake victim card well.

Canadian Town Cancels Trick or Treating Cause “Climate Change”

See, polar bears are wandering into town, so they’re worried about the little snowflakes (wisely), and this can only be caused by Hotcoldwetdry

(Slate) The children of one small town in northern Canada are on the front lines of climate change. In Arviat (map), a hamlet of 2,300 people in the Canadian territory of Nunavut, that means no outdoor trick-or-treating this year for the first time.

Instead of going door to door, kids in Arviat will instead spend their holiday inside the town’s community hall, which will feature a haunted house, face painting, and plenty of candy.

Over the last several years, shore ice has diminished along the western edge of Hudson Bay, forcing the annual polar bear migration closer and closer to town. Bears prefer to be as far out on the ice as possible, to get closer to seals and fish. Less ice means there’s nowhere for the bears to go but straight through town, in many cases. Hudson Bay has warmed by about 3 degrees Celsius—more than three times the global rate—since the 1990s.

It’s so obvious: it can only be man-caused “climate change”, and it’s probably your fault for your Halloween consumerism!

Obama: Say, All These Red State Democrats Support My Agenda

Remember back to the beginning of October, when Obama’s pronouncement that his “policies are on the ballot — every single one of them” inspired panic amongst vulnerable Democrats and glee from Republicans. Well, this next one is surely inspiring more panic from all the Red State Democrats who have been doing all they can to run away from Obama (via Hot Air)

(Weekly Standard) “Well, look, here’s the bottom line,” said Obama, “We’ve got a tough map. A lot of the states that are contested this time are states that I didn’t win. And so some of the candidates there, you know, it is difficult for them to have me in the state because the Republicans will use that to try to fan Republican turn-out. The bottom line is, though, these are all folks who vote with me. They have supported my agenda in Congress. They are on the right side of minimum wage. They are on the right side of fair pay. They are on the right side of rebuilding our infrastructure. They’re on the right side of early childhood education.

“So, this isn’t about my feelings being hurt. These are folks who are strong allies and supporters of me. And I tell them, I said, you know what, you do what you need to win. I will be responsible for making sure that our voters turn up.”

This reminds me of that Bob and Tom song, You’re Not Helping The Show. Just substitute “Barack Obama” for “Chick McGee”.

Dildos and Lynchings: Wendy Davis, Kay Hagan Campaigns Go Insane

There’s a reason they call election time the “silly season”. Though, this is a bit beyond silly

(Daily Caller) Davis took her attacks to a new level on Monday by strongly implying Abbott would support an interracial marriage ban, despite the fact that Abbott is married to a Latina. But less than three hours later, Davis again topped herself by forwarding an attack on Abbott about an unlikely issue: dildos.

In an emailed press release, Wendy Davis For Governor passed along an article from progressive magazine The Texas Observer entitled “Greg Abbott: Dildos? Against ‘em. Interracial Marriage? No Comment.” The piece attacks Abbott for his supposed reluctance to say whether he’d defend interracial marriage and his defense of Texas’ ban on the sale of sex toys.

“In 2008, Abbott chose to defend the state’s ban on the sale of sex toys, a case that emerged from the fallout of Lawrence v. Texas,” writes the Observer’s Christopher Hooks. ”Over the years, Abbott has deployed novel legal arguments against gay marriage. But this wasn’t a case about gay marriage, a subject that still animates sincere moral disagreements. This was a case about every American’s god-given right to buy dildos.”

Facepalm or laughter?

Not quite as facepalmy or laughy for Kay Hagan

Pro-Hagan Flier Uses Lynching Image, Warns Of ‘Obama’s Impeachment’ If Democrat Loses

Churchgoers in Fayetteville returned to their cars Sunday to find a political flyer on their windshield — which is to be expected 16 days before an election. But this flyer was different from the normal “Vote for candidate X” or “Oppose ballot question Y” fliers people are used to. This flyer was a picture of the lynching of a black man by a white crowd with the words “Kay Hagan Doesn’t WIN! Obama’s IMPEACHMENT Will Begin! Vote in 2014.”

The church is Kingdom Impact Global Ministries, a predominantly African-American congregation. Dawn McNair’s daughter found one of the fliers on her mother’s car and noticed the picture. “My daughter said, ‘Mom, look in the background. They’re lynching somebody.’ It’s the lynching of an African-American man,” Dawn told the Fayetteville Observer.

In all fairness, this is not the Hagan campaign, but, hey, since Republicans are constantly asked to distance themselves from wacky things Republicans/Conservatives do from time to time, make sure to ask Kay Hagan (her official Senator Twitter feed here) if she approves of the flier.

Ebola Appears On List Of American Concerns, Economy Still #1, Climate Change Missing

Guess what does not even appear on the list? Oh, right, I mentioned it in the headline

(Gallup) As the quarantine period ends for people exposed to the first person in the U.S. to be diagnosed with Ebola, the virus for the first time ranks among the top 10 issues Americans consider to be the most important ones facing the country. However, Ebola still ranks behind five other issues, including the economy (17%), dissatisfaction with government (16%) and unemployment (10%), and ties several others.

I expect Ebola as a Most Important Issue to disappear within a month, unless there are a few more, or even one, outbreaks in the United States, or there is some sort of incident, such as an Ebola infected person entering the country, legally or illegally.

Of course, to be fair, if this poll is anything like the one the article references in relationship to illegal immigration, Gallup didn’t even bother having “climate change” listed as an issue question. Why would they? “Climate change” typically comes in almost last or dead last in most polls on issues that concern Americans.

Anyhow, it matters little that Ebola will most likely disappear from public view, and as a concern, within a month or so: the damage has already been done to Obama and the Democrats, and the midterms election day….well, the one specified by the Constitution, anyway…is 14 days away. Damage, like, say, Obama’s new Ebola czar, Ron Klain, not having even started the job yet, so, he’s refusing to attend a Congressional hearing on Friday.

It’s also utterly unsurprising that the economy is #1. No matter what Obama and Democrats say, people are dissatisfied. They feel the problems. Well, except for the big 1%er donors to Obama and the Democrats.
