Isn’t It Cool How California Is Flooded By Inland Seas?

That was the Pentagon prognostication. A decade ago

(Washington Times) Ten years ago, the Pentagon paid for a climate study that put forth many scary scenarios.

Consultants told the military that, by now, California would be flooded by inland seas, The Hague would be unlivable, polar ice would be mostly gone in summer, and global temperatures would rise at an accelerated rate as high as 0.5 degrees a year.

None of that has happened.

Surprise…..er, well, not really, for those of us who do not like in Warmist World.

Via The Lonely Conservative, who notes “Climate alarmists have been predicting doom and gloom for decades now. Politicians use those predictions as excuses to spend billions of dollars and enact policies that harm the economy.”

I would have thought the right-wing Washington (Moonie) Times would have linked to the original article. Interesting that they did not.

    Here’s the preamble:

    Imagining the Unthinkable
—-The purpose of this report is to imagine the unthinkable รขโ‚ฌโ€œ to push the boundaries of current research on climate change so we may better understand the potential implications on United States national security.
We have interviewed leading climate change scientists, conducted additional research, and reviewed several iterations of the scenario with these experts. The scientists support this
project, but caution that the scenario depicted is extreme in two fundamental ways. First, they suggest the occurrences we outline would most likely happen in a few regions, rather
than on globally. Second, they say the magnitude of the event may be considerably smaller.
We have created a climate change scenario that although not the most likely, is plausible, and would challenge United States national security in ways that should be considered
    immediately. —-

Curiously, the authors (not scientists, but from a business consulting firm) suggest abrupt COOLING!

“The research suggests that once temperature rises above some threshold, adverse weather conditions could develop relatively abruptly, with persistent changes in the atmospheric circulation causing drops in some regions of 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit in a single decade.”

If anything, they were predicting a new Little Ice Age!

“Europe. Hit hardest by the climatic change, average annual temperatures drop by 6 degrees Fahrenheit in under a decade, with more dramatic shifts along the Northwest coast. The climate in northwestern Europe is colder, drier, and windier,
    making it more like Siberia.”

“United States. Colder, windier, and drier weather makes growing seasons shorter and less productive throughout the northeastern United States, and longer and drier in the southwest. Desert areas face increasing windstorms, while agricultural areas suffer from soil loss due to higher wind speeds and reduced soil moisture. The change toward a drier climate is especially pronounced in the southern states.”

The consultant’s report has all the scientific reliability of a WUWT essay.

“2012 the tenth hottest evah!” Poor John, so lost. If it were true, your drama queen rant would only mean that it was the tenth hottest since…1880, give or take a few. Doesn’t sound so scary, does it. Same would be true if it were the tenth coldest. A few warm, or cold years in a 135 year time frame when the earth has been spitting out warm and cold ones for 4 billion years means nothing of any kind of a trend.

Teach, this spam is getting obnoxious.

Jl, you are completely correct. And for the most part Jl, we only have good records going back about 40 years.

And if Ca does get flooded, not sure how though with all that high coastline, I’d not be too sorry about it. Except there would be alot of migration out of CA and in to other states. They’d bring that corruption and corrupted socialist crap with them.

They’ve already done that to Utah, Montana, and now Texas. Oklahoma is starting to see that change. Sadly.
