Biden Makes It To Maui, Jokes About How Hot The Ground Is

You can bet none of the nation media are mentioning this. I checked, ABC, CBS, NBC, LA Times, Washington Post, NY Times, and a few others

Listen to it yourself. It wasn’t a “good Lord, this is horrific that it is this hot on the ground.” It was meant in a joking manner

(CNN) President Joe Biden arrived in fire-ravaged Maui on Monday to witness up close the devastation left by an inferno more than a week ago and assess for himself a government response that some residents initially found lacking.

The trip brought Biden to the scene of the deadliest American wildfire in more than 100 years. His initial response to the Maui wildfires drew criticism earlier this month, mainly from Republicans, who seized upon a nearly five-day period of silence between Biden’s first comments about the fires to when he next publicly addressed the tragedy.

Pretty sure others “seized” on it, too (rest is below the “more” tag)

Many of the signs and what people were yelling was much, much worse.

The trip provides Biden with an opportunity to demonstrate in-person compassion for a community shaken by the disaster, and to dispel some of the early backlash at how he initially reacted, when photos of him on the beach in Delaware made for a striking split-screen as the scope of the tragedy came into focus. A curt “no comment” when he was asked about the death toll last Sunday fueled Republican criticism that he was shrugging off the tragedy. The White House later said Biden couldn’t hear the question. In all, the president went almost five days without addressing the fires publicly following his first comments about it during a speech in Salt Lake City.

Was this while Biden was bringing up his dead wife and child, or the story he told about his own house burning down?

“I know how profoundly loss can impact a family and a community and I know nothing can replace the loss of life,” Biden said in a statement Sunday. “I will do everything in my power to help Maui recover and rebuild from this tragedy,” he continued, adding, “We are focused on respecting sacred lands, cultures, and traditions.”

Now, listen, I’ve always been of the opinion that the POTUS should not be at most disaster zones, as they really just get in the way (Biden jammed up the roads, obviously). This should be a function of the state, county, and local governments, with an assist from Los Federales if necessary. And, by reports (can we trust them?) the feds have been providing a lot of assistance. But, hey, the standard was set, especially after Bush43 took crap after Katrina (notice he really didn’t need to go to Mississippi or Alabama, which were in the direct path of Katrina, since they had competent government, ie, Republicans). Biden already blew off East Palestine. It took him 2 weeks to get to Maui. And was his typical horrible self.
