Don’t Get Your Next COVID Booster Quite Yet
An uptick in COVID-19 cases and the fast-approaching new school year have many people wondering when they should get their next booster. The short answer, according to experts: not quite yet — you will be a lot better off if you wait another month or two.
In June, an advisory panel to the Food and Drug Administration recommended that the next COVID vaccine formulation target the omicron XBB.1.5 variant.
Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax are now working to update, test and mass-produce their vaccines, which will then need to be officially authorized by the FDA. Experts estimate that shots will be available to the public by late September or early October.
Did anyone else read “mass-produce” as “mass-profit”?
There are two main reasons to hold out for the updated vaccine. First, it will be a better match for the variants that are currently circulating.
The second reason to wait a month or two for the new vaccine is that it will increase the odds that your defenses against the virus will be strongest when cases are expected to peak, historically between December and February. Antibodies wane over time, and protection is highest during the first three months after an infection or vaccination.
In other words, the power of the “vaccine” doesn’t last long. But, we’ll still be seeing social media post about people being “grateful to be vaxxed and boosted” as they catch COVID
COVID-19 is ‘heating up all around’ this summer. Should we be wearing masks again?
The uptick in coronavirus transmission this summer has not brought major alarm from health experts.
But it is raising questions about whether the risks are high enough to go back to safety measures that many have abandoned.
Most people have stopped wearing masks and aren’t likely to follow suggestions to return to that practice all the time again.
Would those be the safety measures that really made no difference, as COVID cases and deaths surged in 2021 despite all the vaccines, forced masking, forced staying home, and all the other crazy. Even in the People’s Republik Of California (it’s an LA Times article) the Comrades have mostly abandoned masks. Heck, even those mass stealing from drug stores do not bother. People have moved on.
It appears we may have reached the point of anti-body dependent enhancement (ADE) due to the MRNA treatments. Look at the CDC conference where 188 vaxxed and boosted people caught Covid at a super-spreader event.
CDC is explicitly NOT evaluating the possibility. Or ANY outcomes that might demonstrate their guidance was in error.
I keep hearing, “Well my friend was fully vaccinated and he caught Covid….”Or some variation of a reason to not take the vaccine.
Being vaccinated does not mean the person is immune. It just means what it says. The person received the vaccine.
Sad to say the Covid vaccines never had an efficacy of 100%. Efficacy is how a vaccine works in controlled trial conditions. Pfizer achieved 95%. Moderna 92% and Johnson & Johnson 72%.
In the real world the general effectiveness appears to be around 85%.
So, it is possible that the vaccinated person was never immunized. Never.
The effectiveness of the vaccines dwindles with time. So, it is also possible that person was immunized for a period of time. The good news is if that person was immunized the symptoms of the disease are greatly reduced with very few hospitalizations. Booster vaccinations are urged for the elderly and anyone whose immune system is compromised.
I took the vaccine in Jan/Feb 2021 and had a booster in 9/21. Yet on 2/22 I was diagnosed with Omicron. The doctor explained:
I summarize. “The vaccine weakened. That’s the bad news. The good news is that since you have had the vaccines that you will probably have a light case and won’t need hospitalization. I’ve prescribed an Infusion treatment this afternoon.”
To say I was concerned is stating it lightly. 30% plus of people 70 or older in TN who catch the disease die. Thankfully the doctor was correct. I’m 80 plus. And I was sick for a few days. But my lungs never filled up. I never went to hospital. I was over it in 4 days and I have no ongoing problems.
What we have here is this. Take the vaccine and you have about an 85% chance of being immunized. And if you then catch the disease the symptoms are greatly reduced.
If you don’t take the vaccine, you have 0% chance of being immunized.
Doesn’t seem too complicated to me.

Docs expect a surge later, but not like previous seasons.
