Hot Take: Acquitting Rittenhouse Would Be Legally Correct, But, Unjust Or Something

Not sure about you, but, I’ve payed attention to the Rittenhouse trial, just, not super deep. Here’s what I see: the juvenile really shouldn’t have been there, but, it’s a free country. The government should have done their job in cracking down on the BLM/Antifa violence, rioting, looting, assault, theft, arson, etc. Three unhinged, violent BLM/Antifa supporters were looking for trouble, and went after the 17 year old. He defended himself. And the prosecution thinks they’re on a TV show, which is not real life. At this point, most people are thinking that Rittenhouse will be acquitted, so, we get stuff like

And

Acquitting Rittenhouse in Kenosha murder case would be the correct, if unjust, verdict

Lawyers are scheduled to deliver their closing arguments Monday in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, and then the case will go to the jury.

If I were a member of that jury, I expect I would reluctantly vote to acquit Rittenhouse of the most serious homicide charges based on the evidence that he was acting in self-defense when he shot three people in Kenosha in August 2020.

That’s without the benefit yet of hearing those closing arguments. Prosecutors might still be able to pull together their case in a more compelling manner than they have managed so far. (snip)

After seeing the rest of the evidence this past week, let me take it a step further. I will be shocked if he’s convicted of anything more than underage possession of a dangerous weapon.

That charge was thrown out after this was written. Whoops!

Even though I think an acquittal would be a proper verdict, I’d still come away from the Rittenhouse trial believing that to be an unjust result.

It was Rittenhouse’s reckless foolishness as a 17-year-old who chose to play volunteer lawman amidst a hostile crowd while toting an AR-15 rifle — a gun he was too young to own — that ultimately is the cause of getting those people killed.

But nobody foresaw the need to create a law covering underage vigilantism, and, as a result, an acquittal would result in his trial sending a message that his actions were OK.

Rittenhouse would then be allowed to go through the rest of his life believing exactly what he said on the witness stand: “I didn’t do anything wrong. I defended myself.”

The fact remains that Rittenhouse had no business being there that night. Without him in the equation, nobody is dead.

See? If only Kyle had just stayed away and decided not to attempt to help people protect their businesses and homes from rampaging Democratic Party voters…..we’d be talking about the three who got shot committing violent acts against other people. What Mark Brown in the Chicago Sun Times is saying is that citizens should just walk away while riots occur, businesses and homes are destroyed, people are attacked, all while the government abandons their job in stopping that stuff.

Following the letter of the law is now unjust.

Lesson learned. When riots occur in Democratic Party run cities, everyone should just walk away. Let it burn. At this point, the jury has the case, and we are awaiting their decision. Could be quick, could be long. And, let’s be honest, no matter which way it goes, the Usual Suspects will riot. It’ll be worse if (when) he is acquitted, but, there will still be riots, I’m sure, if he’s convicted on any charge. And the news media will make Excuses, and still defame Kyle.

  1. Elwood P. Dowd says:

As do most nuCons and oldCons, Teach supports vigilantism, especially if it’s white guys doing the killing. You can tell by just looking at him that Mr Rittenhouse is a ‘good and decent’ young man; a patriot only looking to help. If Mr Rittenhouse had traveled to DC on Jan 6 and killed two rioters storming the Capitol, Teach would no doubt less sympathetic.

Of course it was unwise for Mr Rittenhouse to travel to a neighboring state to shoot rioters, but this is America. If the prosecutor is to be believed, Mr Rittenhouse incapacitated the unarmed Rosenbaum with the first shot to the hip, and shot him 3 more times, with the final to the back being the “kill” shot, but it’s unlikely the white jury will convict him.

Sorry Rimjob, you don’t convince anyone by being the dipshit you are.
      And you never will.

Having instantly branded Kyle as a white supremacist, racist and Trump supporter, Elwood P. Dowd had no intention of committing the leftist sin of affording the lad compassion, understanding, morality or even taking the time to review the facts before deciding Kyle is a deplorable who should be imprisoned for life, if he’s lucky.

You should know Dowd, Kyle went to Kenosha to defend a friends car lot and his father who lives there. Kyle himself goes there often it’s not as if he’s one of the Antifa or BLM rioters who show up from other states with no personal interest or reason to be there other to burn, loot and murder (BLM).

Kyle was also acting in self defense as the tapes and testimony proved. You leftists really have a two tier justice system.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Does mr brandon have any evidence to support his tale of rittenhouse’s supposed association with the Khindri family of Kenosha?

Also, footage from a Des Moines rally on Jan. 30 shows Rittenhouse feet away from the president, in the front row, to the left of the podium. Rittenhouse posted a TikTok video from the event entitled “Trump Rally”. Sounds like a tRump supporter to us.

From rittenhouse’s since deleted TikTok showed rittenhouse holding a rifle with the word’s: “Bruh, I’m just tryna be famous”. Trump2020. Blue Lives Matter.

rittenhouse is no hero, he’s just an idiot kid.

          • L.G.Brandon says:

The only evidence I have of anything is what I either read on the internet or saw on the news. We all know a lot of that is bull but his father lived in Kenosha according to the NYT Nov. 10, 2021. I have no further info. Have you some definitive proof he had no connections in or to Kenosha? Exactly what associations did the rioters have to Kenosha?

A Des Moines rally on Jan 30 has absolutely nothing to do with what happened in Kenosha. He is not on trial for his support of president Trump, or is he? His TikTok account also has nothing to do with this case neither do his grades in school nor his potty training.

The only pertinent facts have to do with if he killed these criminals in self defense as one of the survivors indicated or if he murdered them in cold blood like Michael Byrd did Ashli Babbitt.

I don’t think Kyle is a hero or and idiot kid. I think he is a victim of a two tiered legal system that allows a obvious murderer to walk without a trial while persecuting a kid who defended himself in a fight for his life. All because he supports Trump. You leftists have turned America into an oppressive gulag. Ask the J6 200. Is that your goal for Kyle? Life in prison, no parole, solitary confinement? Or would you prefer death?

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

So I need to disprove your claims, otherwise they’re true? LOL. That’s a common tactic here. You claimed that rittenhouse had connections with the family of the car dealership and that is why he was there. We asked for evidence and your response was to ask what associations the rioters had to Kenosha.

You accused others of calling rittenhouse a white supremacist and a tRump supporter. He clearly was a tRump supporter. Are there tRump supporters who are not white supremacists? None on this site.

Anyway, rittenhouse is getting his day in court and most likely will be acquitted.

Remember the rich ambulance chasers in St Louis who pointed their guns at peaceful marchers on “their” street. If one of the Black marchers had pulled a gun a shot the AR-15 wielding “man” of the house, wouldn’t that be self-defense?

Would you vote for acquittal in that case?

    • Jl says:

J bring race into the picture when the case has absolutely nothing to do with race.
Which makes sense, as most libs can’t even form an argument without that aspect in it.

  2. Dana says:

Our esteemed host got it exactly right: the left want us to just excuse the antifa/BLM rioters for burning, looting and killing people, because social justice!

Of course, the left also want us to hang the Capitol kerfufflers from a streetlamp for demonstrating, and even smashing a couple of windows, in the Capitol. They didn’t burn anything down, and the only deaths that occurred were among the demonstrators themselves, though one apparently unhealthy police officer died shortly thereafter from an unrelated cause.

The descent into savagery is lower common denominatorism. Civilized Americans are just supposed to accept fiery but mostly peaceful protests as something normal. That some people got their homes or businesses burned out, well, that’s not all that important, is it? That some people lost their jobs because the places they worked were burned down, well, too bad, so sad, but they shouldn’t have been working for The Man in the first place.

But Mr Dowd shouldn’t be so sanguine about all of this, because, unless we’ve been misled, is himself white and well-to-do. Perhaps he believes that if he sides with the violent left, they’ll shoot him last, but revolutionaries don’t really care about that. If he gets in their way, even accidentally, he’ll be toast.

    The white leftists who seem to want a race war shouldn’t forget: themselves being white makes them just as much targets as anyone else.;

  3. Dana says:

Of course, while Mr Rittenhouse, with a clean record, didn’t know it at the time, we now know that all three of the ‘men’ he shot were convicted felons. Perhaps that explains why they chose to assault him in the first place; they were all bad people!

That information should have been withheld from the jury, and they cannot act on it, but our society is better off without a convicted child molester and bipolar psychotic like Mr Rosenbaum having gone to his eternal reward. These were not just previously convicted criminals, but they chose to keep committing criminal acts, in their attacks on Mr Rittenhouse, so it’s obvious that they past sentences did nothing to reform them.

    • Zombies are Cool says:

Let us not forget that Mr. Rittenhouse shot three WHITE men that night. He did not shoot any black people. The left is portraying this as a racist event when in fact Rittenhouse was giving aid to rioters who were marching in the name of BLM which we all know is bunk.

These people were just plain bad people rioting for the fun of rioting.

That being said I think there is a good chance that Rittenhouse is guilty on all charges because of how they lay out the rules to him. If on the first charge you find him in self-defense then do not go on to the others, but if you find he was guilty then you can go on to the others.

In this case, it is the first shooting that is the most problematic. I think they could easily find him guilty of a lesser charge and then the dominoes fall. He might very well be convicted on lesser charges for all crimes that night because of a really shitty explanation to the jury and a jury that does not want to be in witness protection the rest of their lives.

I would be very surprised if Ritten house does not receive 50 years when all is said and done because you have a jury that will fear for their lives and once they leave the courthouse their protection ENDS!!

  4. Elwood P. Dowd says:

The law says that even stupid, idiot kids like rittenhouse have the right of self-defense.

mr dana goes there! The dead and wounded deserved to die! Good riddance, he says. Gaige Grosskreutz, shot in the arm by rittenhouse, is not a convicted felon.

But to a certain extent I agree with mr dana that society would benefit from eliminating sociopaths and psychopaths such as Donald tRump, Michael Flynn, Alex Jones etc. Should we leave that decision up to thugs like 17 yr old rittenhouse?

The increasingly distraught and frightened mr dana typed: the left want us to just excuse the antifa/BLM rioters for burning, looting and killing people, because social justice!

Of course, the left also want us to hang the Capitol kerfufflers from a streetlamp for demonstrating, and even smashing a couple of windows, in the Capitol.

By all means arrest, try and convict the rioters! And by all means arrest, try and convict the Jan 6 insurrectionists.

mr rittenhouse killed two protesters in Kenosha and the Capitol Police killed one Capitol protester. Right-wingers excuse (lionize!!) mr rittenhouse but called for the prosecution of an actual police officer for defending himself and the US government.

No one is calling for “excuse(ing)” the antifa/BLM protesters. They should be identified and should pay for their crimes. No one is calling for hanging the insurrectionists from streetlamps. They should be identified and should pay for their crimes.

The always reasonable mr tRump excused the insurrectionists who were screaming “Hang Mike Pence!!” (and even erected a gallows), by saying “People were angry”. People were angry because their favored candidate lost the election, and in protest they stormed the United States Capitol building “coincidentally” at the precise moment the US Congress and VP Mike Pence were performing their constitutionally mandated duty to certify the election. The objective of the leaders of the insurgency (tRump, Eastman, Ellis, Flynn, Brooks, Powell etc) was to delay the certification of the vote. They were using the angry people.

      Stay woke, Rimjob, stay woke.

“….. because “the woke” have no sense of humor and, therefore, take everything literally and then judge it against their own very-questionable (double-)standards. Let’s face it; you have to be a humorless, dumb-as-dogshit, non-contextual, hypocritical f@cktard to be “woke”, otherwise it don’t work.
