Even On Fighting Opioids, Media Goes TDS

America apparently has an opioid problem. We’ve heard about this for several years, with each pronouncement more dire. One would think that the President of the United States taking an interest would be a good thing, but, this is the leftist media, so Politico writers Brianna Ehley, Josh Dawsey, and Sarah Karlin-Smith give it the TDS spin

Trump blindsides advisers with promised opioid plan

President Donald Trump overrode his own advisers when he promised to deliver an emergency declaration next week to combat the nation’s worsening opioid crisis.

“That is a very, very big statement,” he said Monday. “It’s a very important step. … We’re going to be doing it in the next week.”

Blindsided officials are now scrambling to develop such a plan, but it is unclear when it will be announced, how or if it will be done, and whether the administration has the permanent leadership to execute it, said two administration officials.

“They are not ready for this,” a public health advocate said of an emergency declaration after talking to Health and Human Services officials enlisted in the effort.

If you’re thinking “are any of this officials named? Is anyone on the record?” Nope and nope

Trump’s off-script statement stunned top agency officials, who said there is no consensus on how to implement an emergency declaration for the drug epidemic, according to interviews with officials from the White House, a half dozen federal agencies, state health directors and lobbyists.

And not one is named.

…said one senior administration official.

Multiple sources in and out of relevant federal agencies….

A senior FDA official…

An HHS spokesman…

A White House spokesman…

Instead of saying “this is a good thing that POTUS is taking an interest and wants to do something,” Politico trots out unnamed, and, for all we know, imaginary, advisors, attempting to slam Trump. And they wonder why the trust level in the media is so low.

tRump blurts out whatever serves his personal needs at the time. His staff and the government were not prepared for his surprise pronouncement.

As many Americans die from opioid overdose each year as die from auto accidents and firearm violence, so the nation does need a PLAN for dealing with it.

    • Bob spelled backwards says:

So, you’re upset that Trump says that he’s going to focus on the opioid issue, though you believe that it’s a serious issue?

      • Jeffery says:

The problem, boB, is that he is NOT focusing on it, he only mentioned it to distract from one of his other shortcomings, and to stir up more scheisse. It’s what he does.

Puerto Rico, the Wall, Hillary, North Korea, middle class tax relief, opioids, dead soldiders, Health Care (the best, the cheapest, LOL), subsidies, Paris, Iran… all just PT Barnum crap for him. tRump will say anything to get him to the next meeting, interview, press release or day, and away for any reckoning. He’s a reality TV character and plays it well. But America needs a President.

but it is working. Its called Saul Alinsky tactics. Eat it. Its a shit sandwich. Its what the Obama presidency and the left have been doing to the right for decades. Now that hes returning the favor the left is running around with their hair on fire swatting flies all over the outhouse.

Enjoy the taste. That’s what political shit tastes like.

I don’t think you were ready for 911, Pearl Harbor, as just a few examples. The problem with your government is something I was watching Paul Ryan giving a light hearted speech about.

He said jokingly that HRC just came out with a book that took 8 months to write, 511 pages of excuses as to why she lost the election.

Trump on the other hand Tweeted “I won” in 15 seconds.

The problem with Washington DC is they have become so crouched in Political correctness they are now paralyzed into inaction forcing the president to sign executive orders and ordering the Federal government under his control to do things without official laws. Obama did this because the GOP blocked everything the Dems tried to do and when they did do anything they got shellacked in the next election.

Trump can actually do some things as the leader of the federal government. While the House and Senate set around doing nothing for fear of losing their hefty donors. Even the left is threatening to primary their own if they so much as say one good thing about Trump. Or for that matter even suggest a good thing about him. See Feinsteins roasting over her comments on gun control.

Remember #I won means a lot in Washington DC. As Obama so boldly declared a while back. Elections have consequences.

Wait-You mean climate change didn’t cause the opioid crisis? I’m sure the climate bed-wetters will find a way somewhere down the line.

  4. Fran says:

The opiod epidemic is all abouot black market. The mayors, the congressmen, the senators the police, are all in on the sales of black market drugs, to the tune of 1 million US Dollars per week per area,
and since the doctors are writing scripts for opiods sales are down, THus, the opiod epidemic is
    fabricated.
