The Impeachment Talk Is Nothing New

Really, the Democrats plans regarding Trump are going the way they wanted from a year ago. Certainly, Trump is helping them with their talking points by being a loose cannon and not staying on message, but, this was the Democrats playbook from the get-go

Trump Impeachment Talk Started Before He Was Even Nominated

Months before Donald Trump was even nominated for president at the Republican National Convention, the possibility of impeaching President Trump was already being floated in political circles.

“‘Impeachment’ is already on the lips of pundits, newspaper editorials, constitutional scholars, and even a few members of Congress,” read an April 2016 Politico piece, titled, “Could Trump Be Impeached Shortly After He Takes Office?”

“They’ll be talking impeachment on day two, after the first Trump executive order,” conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh predicted a month before the Politico piece. “You might finally get to see unified opposition to the guy.” (snip)

A day before the election, researchers with the University of Utah made the legal case for impeaching Trump if he won the election. The researchers claimed Trump could be charged with fraud or racketeering, both of which are felonies.

Let’s be honest, it wasn’t just Democrats, there were a few of the hardcore Never Trumpers who were discussing this, but, it was primarily Democrats and their compliant media, along with their crazy comrades, like those at Slate and Salon and Vox.

Days before Trump’s inauguration, California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters was already making the case for his impeachment.

And Crazy Maxine hasn’t stopped since.

Impeachment talks heated up after Trump’s inauguration in January.

“Here’s how President Trump may have already set himself up for impeachment,” read an Inauguration Day headline in the New York Daily News. That same day, GQ Magazine published an explainer piece on how to impeach a president, while The Washington Post and Time magazine ran stories on the campaign to impeach a president who had yet to take his oath of office.

On the flip side, every Republican knows that Democrats and the media are going to be gunning for them. They know that they won’t be treated fairly. They know that minor issues will be magnified into Mt Everest. They know that the news media will be investigating everything in a way they won’t do with Democrats. Trump and his team should have seen this coming. The media broadcasted their intentions about waking up to do their “jobs” after 8 years of sleep, along with Democrats stating their intention to impeach (which would leave us with President Pence, but, the wackadoodles even have plans to get rid of enough Republicans to end up with a Dem in office. Yeah, it’s nuts and fantasy). Team Trump, and President Trump himself, should not be making this easier for Dems and the media.

Since the free press never expected trump to win, his background was never vetted. Those who knew him, like author David Cay Johnston, were ignored as they recounted trump’s multiple business dealings with known criminals, mobsters and crooked foreign leaders.

On the other hand the entertainment and infotainment press LOVED trump. He was ratings gold, like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Paris Hilton and Jay-Z (although less qualified than any of them). trump phoned in daily to Morning Joe where Mika and Joe fawned over him, calling the other press depictions of trump unfair and “not the donald trump they knew!”. We used to call it Morning Blow because of the on-their-knees trump worship. Now suddenly Joe Scarborough finds trump’s actions shocking!

Since the election, people have discovered many of trump’s horrible, even criminal dealings. And although his hard-core followers refuse to recognize it, most Americans are seriously concerned about trump’s mental fitness and the damage he can inflict. The drip, drip, drip of his connections to the Russians, who helped him win the election, doesn’t help him.

Listen, we made a serious mistake electing trump, a man intellectually, emotionally and ethically unfit for office. Clearly it’s a risk in a free and open society that a telegenic celebrity sociopath can cleverly tailor a demagogic message to recruit 46% of voters. Mix in help from a foreign nation and an unpopular opponent and voila, we have a mistake in the White House. As a nation, we cannot cancel an election, defying 46% of the voters, but as trump’s own history and actions come to the fore it will become clear we have to act. And face it, with trump gone, we get Mike Pence, a man even more maniacally right-wing than trump! And Pence has no secret history. You would be replacing a lunatic with a rock-ribbed conservative!

And I predict President Comey will pardon trump in 2021.

Hiring Flynn was a serious mistake. His Muslim bans were mistakes. Not firing Flynn when it was clear he was dirty was a mistake. Asking Director Comey to stop investigating Flynn was a serious mistake. Firing Director Comey was a serious mistake. Disclosing highly classified material to Russian agents was a serious mistake. His persistent lies regarding issues critical and trivial hurts his image further. His constant whining about being a victim appeals only to his hard-core followers.

So seriously, trump-followers… it’s time to correct your mistake and get rid of trump before he harms the nation even more. It’s time to get President Pence.

      Absolutely batshit crazy.

What, Jeffrey is now telling us that with a huge private media, sixteen other Republican primary candidates, and the Hillary Clinton campaign, no one checked into the background of Donald Trump? If Jeffrey truly believes this, he needs to contact me about a bridge!

And I predict President Comey will pardon trump in 2021.

Let’s see, the Democrats hate James Comey, and the Republicans hate James Comey, but Jeffrey ‘predicts’ that he will be President in 2021?

And face it, with trump gone, we get Mike Pence, a man even more maniacally right-wing than trump! And Pence has no secret history. You would be replacing a lunatic with a rock-ribbed conservative!

Some of us would see that as a good thing! But, tell us, Jeff: since you believe that President Trump is simply unfit for the office, would you be marginally happier or unhappier if he left office early — by whatever means — and Mr Pence became President?

Considering the turmoil and instability in Washington, shouldn’t we be worrying about civilian control of the military?

  3. david7134 says:

Trump is already one of our better presidents, especially after the last 8 years of hell.

We now need a special prosecutor to examine Obama and Hillary and group. We do know for sure that Soros interfered with the e!ection.

We’ve asked before and you’ve dodged answering. On what do you base your opinion?

We thought we made it clear. We would be SIGNIFICANTLY happier with trump gone, and Mr. Pence as president. trump is mentally unbalanced and dangerous. Don’t you think that those calling for trump’s removal understand that Mr. Pence would become President? Of course they do. But we consider trump to be an extraordinary threat to the nation.

By and large, a President Pence would initiate, support and sign the same policies that the so-called president trump would. trump’s problem is his mental instability, adolescent temperament, and seemingly congenital dishonesty.

Yikes! Maybe Mr. Pence knew more than he’s admitted:

Exclusive: Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russians: sources

By Ned Parker, Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel | WASHINGTON
Michael Flynn and other advisers to Donald Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties in at least 18 calls and emails during the last seven months of the 2016 presidential race, current and former U.S. officials familiar with the exchanges told Reuters.
The previously undisclosed interactions form part of the record now being reviewed by FBI and congressional investigators probing Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election and contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russia.
