We Finally Have A Major Newspaper Refer To Trump As The Devil

Is this just metaphorical, from the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank?

The religious right makes a deal with the devil

The late Jerry Falwell, leader of the Moral Majority and founder of Liberty University, built the religious right into a major political force.

His son Jerry Jr. is well on his way to destroying it.

Falwell fils, now Liberty’s president, was among the first and most prominent evangelical Christian leaders to embrace thrice-married, foul-mouthed casino mogul Donald Trump, declaring in January that Trump had lived his life in the spirit of Jesus. This endorsement validated Trump’s character for millions of evangelicals, helping to propel Trump to the Republican nomination. Falwell continued to campaign for Trump, spoke at the Republican convention and likened Trump to Winston Churchill in an August op-ed in The Post.

It continues on in that vein, highlighting how the Religious Right (as opposed to the baby killing and immoral Left, I suppose), have essentially made a deal with the devil to support Trump over Hillary. Perhaps they are simply putting the two on a balance scale, and finding Hillary and her policies and beliefs to be way too immoral to consider voting for her.

Of course, on the flip side, Milbank does make a good point in that if a person is lacking in morals, why would religious leaders throw their support to that person in the name of Trump? There’s a big debate amongst the #NeverHillarys who are also “I can’t freaking believe we nominated Trump”, which boils down to “this guy doesn’t represent me, he doesn’t want my vote, he’s a loose cannon, he spends more time fighting against Republicans than Democrats/Hillary, and he really is a Democrat in Republican clothes. But, the thought of 4 years of Hillary is beyond concerning. Is it worth taking a chance on Trump, or do I stick with my principles and wash my hands of this guy?”

Right now, Trump is attempting to burn down the GOP more than he’s attacking Hillary, and we get headlines such as

How much of this is simply a typical leftist media attempt to split the GOP, which happens every election cycle, and how much is based in reality, considering Trump has a history starting with the primary season of trashing Republicans more harshly than Democrats/Hillary? Now that the shackles are off, he seems to want to burn down the GOP, something the Democrats have never been able to do, splitting everyone, and his supporters not only willingly follow along, they advocate this.

They forget that Trump has stated that he’s not a conservative, that he doesn’t need the Conservative vote, and he’d rather make a play for Bernie Sanders supporters. He never cared about unity. And he’s destroying the down ballot races as he implodes. Hey, maybe things will turn out well. Maybe the polls are all wrong, and the final poll on November 8th will go Trump’s way with the GOP holding the Senate and House. I won’t hold my breathe, and, will note what Kevin D. Williamson (who’s being called GOPe, a cuckservative, and a traitor for failing to back Trump) wrote in May, when he pre-planned his I told you so

I want to leave a note here, because I expect to have many occasions to link back to it in the next several months.

Americans and Republicans, remember: You asked for this. Given the choice between a dozen solid conservatives and one Clinton-supporting con artist and game-show host, you chose the con artist. You chose him freely. Nobody made you do it.

Not all of us did. And I wash my hands of the whole thing at this point. The GOP is less than perfect. We know that. But, they are better than Democrats, and I do not like the way the Trumpites have moved it towards acting in the same “you’re either with us or you will be destroyed” attitude that Democrats have. You’ve been conned. You no longer hold American Conservative values. If I lose readers and commentors, so be it. The results are on Trump supporters.

We Finally Have A Major Party Candidate Refer His Opponent As The Devil (not to mention putting her in jail if he’s elected)

Les Deplorables called Secretary Clinton “The Devil” at his Sunday night town hall debacle debate.

Isn’t that worse than a columnist/blogger saying the religious right made a deal with the devil?

  2. Dana says:

The Trumelstiltskins have already been using the “stab in the back” talk. Perhaps if they had used Dolchstoßlegende, the German original.

  3. Dana says:

Well, Jeffrey, at least Mr Trump was telling the truth in that one.

  4. Jeffery says:

Yesterday’s LATimes poll was a tie for the first time in a long time. Typically it has Trump up by several points.

Can Trump make up 5 points? Will Wikileaks help him enough?

  5. Jeffery says:

    dana,

Do you really think that Secretary Clinton is The Devil or just a demon? Can you explain what you mean? Do you mean it in a supernatural way?

  6. The Night Wind says:

I partially agree with this, though I think the blame for the GOP implosion lies with the Republican Party mandarins and oligarchs who’ve used the Alt-Right for years the same way the Democrats have used minorities. The GOP leaders fomented the movement that led to Trump, they nominated him to get votes—now they’re scrambling because they can’t control their base anymore.

I don’t blame Trump for courting the Sanders people, they’re cut from the same cloth. Just like the Republican and Democratic Party elites are of the same stripe.

The Conservatives haven’t had any power in the GOP since 1989.

  7. Dana says:

    Jeffrey asked:

Do you really think that Secretary Clinton is The Devil or just a demon?

A distinction without a difference. She is an unethical, unscrupulous huiman being person , with no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. Her policies are more than just wrongheaded, they are actually evil.

  8. Jeffery says:

Got it. Name-calling against someone whose policy prescriptions differ from yours.

Same reason I make fun of Trumpf.

Can you explain a few of her evil policies?

As a liberal I feel I can work with Secretary Clinton – she’s no economic liberal in the sense of Senator Sanders whose policy proposals were much more attractive to liberals – but she’s no modern conservative either: No massive tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, no war on the working classes. She’s a bit too adventurous militarily and too cozy with Wall Street for most liberals but the assumption is she can be managed.

Most liberals feel the policies during the terms of Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama have hurt the American working classes. But a president cannot reverse these trends alone (note the opposition to every President Obama proposal). Clinton will be marginally a more acceptable horse-trader with Congressional loons – but they’ll still claim she is an illegitimate chief exec as they did with President Obama.

People have policy differences and use demeaning tactics to get their favs elected.

It’s up to the American electorate to rid our statehouses and Congress of the wrongheaded far-right officials who stand in the way of the working classes.

  9. Jeffery says:

The last sustaining reason for supporting Trumpf (other than anti-hillary) is that he will nominate Supreme Court justices who will rule in favor of conservative desires.

What is the 11th most important ruling you’d like to see? (We all know the first ten are reversing Roe vs Wade).

  10. Liam Thomas says:

supreme court justices should be upholding the constitution….not ruling in favor of the right or left ideology.

Nominating judges who are far right or far left is idiotic by both parties and in the long run hurts this country way more then it helps….

Because in the real world their is a political center line and about 49.9 percent are on the right of it and 49.9 percent are on the left of it.

Rulings that disillusion 1/2 of the country is bound to happen but not because it should be politically motivated but rather because it is constitutional and one side or the other might not like that but that is the way it is.

  11. Dana says:

    Jeffrey asked:

Can you explain a few of her evil policies?

I can tell you what they are, but no, I can’t explain them, because they defy rational explanation.

1 – She would eviscerate our First Amendment rights: Mrs Clinton has said many times that she’d like to overturn Citizens United vs FEC, in an attempt to criminalize political speech against candidates. She would enact ‘hate speech’ laws if she could, and try to prosecute what she deems as hate speech under existing laws if possible. She would use the force of law to compel religious people to violate their consciences, in forcing them to provide services for same-sex ‘weddings’ and to pay for abortion.

2 – She would end our Second Amendment rights if she could, trying to prohibit law-abiding people from being able to own firearms, while leaving the criminals armed.

3 – She supports a nanny-state view that society is somehow responsible for the rearing of children, rather than parents.

4 – She supports an unlimited abortion license; that is wholly evil.

5 – She would use the power of government to favor some people over others, based on race, sex, skin color, religion, ethnicity and sexual orientation. the idea of equal rights for all is anathema to her.

6 – She would increase the taxes of people who work for a living, to give money to those who won’t. She would raise taxes highest on the most productive Americans, to favor the least productive.

Apparently the Hag “hates everyday Americans” especially Catholics and evangelicals according to her staff…

Kinda like her “private versus public face.”

  13. john says:

2/3 of Americans want to keep abortion legal. Does that mean 2/3s of Americans are what you would call “the Left”?
Does that mean that we won ?http://www.gallup.com/poll/1576/abortion.aspx
No wonder the GOP ruled by the extreme radical right CONSISTENTLY loses the popular vote in national elections.

  14. Jeffery says:

    1. She wants to reduce the influence of big money on politicians.
    2. She supports the second amendment.
    3. not specific
    4. She supports the right of choice for women, as do most Americans
    5. not specific
    6. She would increase federal income taxes on those making over $250,000 a year, she would raise MY taxes and yet I still support her over Trumpf.

The evil, to you, is that she supports abortion rights. It always comes down to abortion.

What would you consider the appropriate handling of abortion in America?

  15. Jeffery says:

Were our 1st Amendment rights restricted up until the Citizens United ruling freed us? Really?

  16. drowningpuppies says:

Just shows you what a dishonest media can do.

  17. john says:

Yes teach you did choose Trump by not speaking out against him when he repeatedly made racist, anti women, anti muslim and anti immigrant statements.
Pushing such uber right wing ideas is what will cost you a GOP governor in your state, maybe a senator and a new SCOTUS that will outlaw the gerrymandering in your state that gives too many Congressional districts to the GOP
A word to the wise: if you can’t win a battle, don’t fight it.
Yeah, dems do want a single payer, but they knew their best hope of getting anything ws the ACA. We will get the single payer soon, maybe under Clinton

    Thanks, retard.

  19. Liam Thomas says:

The evil, to you, is that she supports abortion rights. It always comes down to abortion.

This race has not been about abortion at all. Nor about gays, or lesbians.

IT has been about a lying, backstabbing double talking 50 year politician….I go back to her college days when she majored in poly sci and wrote her thesis on Saul Alinsky.

    Versus…..

A democrat turned GOP playboy billionaire who is nothing but a self centered ego maniac with zero experience in solving our problems……

the race boils down to Who lied the most, who do you trust to keep lying to you and who would you rather have lying to you over and over and over again.

I for one would much rather have hillary in charge….because SHE WILL UNITE ONCE AGAIN THE GOP……

WHO has been Destroyed by Donald Trump….

So yeah….Im going to actually vote for Hillary Clinton only because we need her for 4 years to put the GOP back together again…..perhaps….just perhaps the libertarian whackos will join the cause and tone down their extreme ideology and help us defeat democrats instead of destroying the GOP for the sake of purity.

  20. drowningpuppies says:

Not only was Scankles Libyan Arms Operation a disaster that caused the death of our ambassador and others but she lied to Congress about it which is a felony.
Obama also tried to charge an arms dealer, who was not part of her operation, to cover up Obama and Scankles part in the operation. But you can do anything when there is no opposition party.

  21. Hoagie says:

Pushing such uber right wing ideas is what will cost you a GOP governor in your state, maybe a senator and a new SCOTUS that will outlaw the gerrymandering in your state that gives too many Congressional districts to the GOP

John, do you realize the term “Gerrymander” comes from a Governor Gerry of Massachusetts, a Democratic-Republican, today’s democrat party, when he contorted district to CHEAT his opponent out of votes. You guys have been cheating at elections since at least 1812.

Can someone please explain to me why leftists have such a visceral hatred for men, Christians, white people and America? And if they think it’s so bad here why don’t they leave instead of making it bad for the rest of us? I mean just look at john’s glee at the thought of forcing other people into a health insurance program they don’t want. he takes a certain pride in hurting other people. It’s pathological.

  23. Dana says:

    Jeffrey just plain lies:

    1. She wants to reduce the influence of big money on politicians.

Bovine feces. She’s the biggest patron of big money in politics!

    2. She supports the second amendment.

Bovine feces. She’s lying through her scummy teeth when she says that, having already ‘admired’ Australia’s gun confiscation program.

    3. not specific

She wrote the book, It Takes a Village, and her latest commercial is oriented along those lines. When she tells you that she she wants to change things for the good of children, she’s talking about more and more government intervention.

    4. She supports the right of choice for women, as do most Americans

Abortion is the greatest evil we have ever seen in our society, and anyone who supports it is supporting evil. I don’t care how many people support it; they are wrong, and there’s a special place in Hell awaiting them.

    5. not specific

Affirmative Action, which you well knew. And she would extend Affirmative Action to homosexuals and transsexuals and everyone else she thought was part of some ‘victim group.’ Equal treatment under law is a foreign concept to her.

    6. She would increase federal income taxes on those making over $250,000 a year, she would raise MY taxes and yet I still support her over Trumpf.

So, then, have you been voluntarily paying more taxes? Have you put your money where your mouth is?

The evil, to you, is that she supports abortion rights. It always comes down to abortion.

What would you consider the appropriate handling of abortion in America?

I would try, convict and imprison anyone involved in abortion of murder in the first degree, and have them locked up for the rest of their natural lives. This would include ‘doctors,’ ‘nurses,’ receptionists, technicians, the so-called ‘mothers,’ and any supposed ‘fathers’ who paid for abortions.

Abortion is the deliberate and pre-meditated killing of a living human being; first degree murder is the only appropriate charge.

  24. Dana says:

    Jeffrey asked:

Were our 1st Amendment rights restricted up until the Citizens United ruling freed us? Really?

The United States District Court for the District of Columbia held that §203 of BCRA applied and prohibited Citizens United from advertising the film Hillary: The Movie in broadcasts or paying to have it shown on television within 30 days of the 2008 Democratic primaries. This was prior restraint of speech and of the press, the very thing that the Supreme Court had previously said could not be done in the Pentagon Papers case.

The left always find such good, good reasons to restrict the freedom of speech.

  25. drowningpuppies says:

Ain’t it amazing how the media is all over the latest Wikileaks emails that prove collusion between the press and the Hildabeast campaign.

  26. Hoagie says:

The very idea that if a person shoots a pregnant woman and kills the baby he is charged with homicide but if a doctor or the mother kills the baby they are not is a slap in the face to morality, law, justice and equality. Leftists have a long history of murdering those they don’t consider people, for nazi’s it was Jews for democrats it’s unborn babies.

  27. Hank_M says:

“Ain’t it amazing how the media is all over the latest Wikileaks emails ”

    Sure is.

My wife watched a local morning show, probably GMA and she says they’re instead trying to obtain confidential behind the scenes clips from The Apprentice.

However, the biggest howler from today, or perhaps the whole election season, has to be this: She [Hillary] wants to reduce the influence of big money on politicians.

  28. Jeffery says:

    3. Nonsense. You’re still not specific. Do you consider gov’t subsidized healthcare unconstitutional? Foodstamps? Child labor laws?
    4. What if Trumpf had impregnated the 13 yr old girl he raped? Would you deny the right to child rape victims to obtain an abortion? Why do you feel that your religious views should be the law of the land?
    5. Nonsense. All Americans should be protected from discrimination.
    6. Distraction. She has proposed to raise taxes on those making over $250,000. You claimed she would raise everyone’s taxes.

Separately, BuzzFeed reported Wednesday that four women in the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant said Trump walked into their dressing room while they were changing. Some were as young as 15, BuzzFeed reported.

He’s a psychopathic, sick fuck. Thanks, GOP.

Trumpf later bragged about his creepy behavior of sexually harassing young girls. Do you condemn this?

Maybe NC can pass a law keeping Trumpf out of girls’ locker rooms and dressing rooms.

Abortion is the deliberate and pre-meditated killing of a living human being; first degree murder is the only appropriate charge.

If you really believe doctors, nurses, receptionists, technicians, mothers and fathers are murdering children why haven’t you done something about it. You certainly could have saved at least one murdered child by physically intervening. Are you afraid of going to jail?

Let’s say to reduce our excess population the evil Hillary decrees that all kindergartners with below average IQ are to be humanely euthanized. I would hope you would join with me and my friends to raid the centers and rescue the children or die trying. I would supply you with guns and ammo.

If you really think children are being murdered shouldn’t you do more?

There are at least twice as many spontaneous abortions as induced abortions. Have you ever prayed to god and ask why he kills so many babies? Would you recommend investigating each spontaneous abortion to see if the so-called “mother” contributed to the death of the child? What if she was a smoker? Or a drug user? Or didn’t follow her doctor’s recommendations on nutrition? What if she was an overweight Type 2 diabetic? Her excess weight and lack of exercise almost certainly contributed to her child spontaneously aborting.

  34. Jeffery says:

There’s a common thread amongst the disbelieving right: the scientists are lying, the media are lying, Blacks are lying, gays are lying, the pollsters are lying, the government is lying, in fact, there are no objective truths anymore… any evidence contrary to their belief system can be dismissed as a lie or biased.

The next Predator of the United States.

A former writer for People magazine alleges that in 2005, Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in his Mar-a-Lago resort while she was there to interview him and his wife.
Natasha Stoynoff wrote Wednesday that in December 2005, she toured the Mar-a-Lago with Trump and his wife Melania, who was pregnant at the time, as part of a story about their first anniversary.
Everything was going well, she said, until Melania stepped away for a few minutes.
“We walked into that room alone, and Trump shut the door behind us. I turned around, and within seconds, he was pushing me against the wall, and forcing his tongue down my throat. Now, I’m a tall, strapping girl who grew up wrestling two giant brothers. I even once sparred with Mike Tyson. It takes a lot to push me. But Trump is much bigger – a looming figure – and he was fast, taking me by surprise, and throwing me off balance,” Stoynoff said.

About his boorish behavior at beauty pageants:

Trump told Stern he would “go backstage and everyone’s getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it.”
Trump campaign manager: Clinton jail comments are being taken ‘literally’
“You know, the dresses. ‘Is everyone OK?’ You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that.

    What a pig.

  40. Jeffery says:

The clip was from an Entertainment Tonight Christmas special filmed in 1992 when Trump was 46 years old. In it, he came across a group of young girls and asks one of them if she is “going up the escalator.” When she says yes, he turns to the camera and actually says “I am going to be dating her in 10 years. Can you believe it?”

This comment was made about a 10 year old girl. He found a 10 year old girl sexually attractive enough to actually tell her this.

    2. Nonsense. She will not revoke the 2nd amendment. She can’t.

She will if she can, and do everything she can to pass as much gun control legislation as possible, hoping to get a fifth justice who will overturn McDonald v Chicago, which held that the Second Amendment recognizes an individual right to own firearms.

    3. Nonsense. You’re still not specific. Do you consider gov’t subsidized healthcare unconstitutional? Foodstamps? Child labor laws?

I consider them wholly intrusive and none of the government’s business.

    4. What if Trumpf had impregnated the 13 yr old girl he raped? Would you deny the right to child rape victims to obtain an abortion? Why do you feel that your religious views should be the law of the land?

I mentioned nothing about religion, but yes, I would deny abortion in all instances except for an immediate threat to the life of the mother. (If the mother dies, she takes her unborn child with her.) The victim of rape is badly wounded, but still survives; the victim of abortion does not.

    5. Nonsense. All Americans should be protected from discrimination.

    And Affirmative Action is discrimination.

    6. Distraction. She has proposed to raise taxes on those making over $250,000. You claimed she would raise everyone’s taxes.

But, of course, she was lying through her scummy teeth; she’ll raise taxes on everybody. But even if she only tried to raise taxes on the hardest workers, she would still be discriminating against people for doing well.
