I’m listening to Geraldo Rivera spin about the notion that a video that no one had seen was the obvious cause of an attack on our Benghazi consulate, along with all the other violence on September 11 as Fox News is discussing this same report
(Detroit Free Press) The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month’s deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press.
Perhaps Geraldo can explain the violence and attempts to burn our consulates and embassies, along with raising Salafist flags above them, not to mention the huge number of Salafist flags and headbands present at the “protests”, including the European ones? Looks kinda, you know, planned.
It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went. The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans was a result of the mobs that staged less-deadly protests across the Muslim world around the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S.
If information like this, coming from the freaking CIA station chief in Libya, was not immediately disseminated all the way up the chain, someone’s head should roll. We pretty much know that Obama didn’t bother convening his national security council the day after the attack, instead choosing to label the attack as a demonstration that got out of control, the better to be able to hit the campaign trail.
Damn, who’d knew that incompetence, ignorance, and ineptness was a virus so strong that it could infect the whole of the federal government in less than 4 years.
And, think about this: even though all the intelligence said “terrorist attack”, the Smartest Man In The World decided to start blaming the video in full 3 days later.
