Flashback: Most Narcissistic President Ever Declares April 22nd Earth Day

The man is beyond belief. Via IBD, comes Obama’s proclamation. We’ll skip the self serving garbage, and get to

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim April 22, 2011, as Earth Day.  I encourage all Americans to participate in service programs and activities that will protect our environment and contribute to a prosperous, healthy, and sustainable future.

Seriously? Did he actually take credit for Earth Day? For making it “official”? He even notes it has been around for 42 years (43 this year). From Wikipedia

The genesis of Earth Day is credited to Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Inspired by the student anti-war movement, he called for an environmental teach-in, or Earth Day, to be held on April 22, 1970. Over 20 million people participated that year, and this Earth Day is now observed on April 22 each year by more than 500 million people and several national governments in 175 countries.[citation needed] Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues.

In Obama World, it can’t be official till He Chimes In.

Oh, and the typical unhinged enviroweenies are calling for “population stabilization.”

  1. […] William Teach noted that President Obama has proclaimed today, April 22nd, to be Earth Day, about 42…. He also has a rather extensive list of President Obama’s energy policy “successes.” […]

All those fails only means that not enough money was “invested” in them. If the public won’t do it, then the gov’t must do it FOR the public, dontyaknow.

  3. Gumball_Brains says:

I tell ya, it’s time to raise the taxes on the 1%. In this stagnant and depressive economy, where there are few jobs and more and more people are on welfare, we need to raise the taxes on all those 1% who pay nearly 40% of all America’s taxes.

When 50% of all the workers in America pay all of the services for those other 50%, then something is wrong. Something is seriously wrong here!!! WE need to raise that to 20% who pay all of the taxes. A good and honest country is one where only the wrong few pay any taxes. Those are the people who are stupid enough to take money from the workers they choose to hire. They TAKE AND TAKE money from their customers and clients like they can’t give away their products. WELL WHO SAYS!!

The gov’t says. The gov’t has shown time and time again when it chooses to give something away, that company’s executives get huge bonuses. Just look at the “green” energy sector jobs and those people who have made tens of millions of dollars just since Obama was placed in to office and increased the outcome-based gov’t spending!

It is time to change. We must throw off the shackles of past misdeeds. We must embrace the NEW. Accept the kool-aide my brethren. It only stings a little.

So, he uses his “Constitutionally vested authority” to make a meaningless proclamation of a day people were going to celebrate with or without him, but can’t find it in himself to authorize a pipeline that would reduce the carbon emissions involved in oil transport and actually improve the environment. (And reduce our dependency on middle eastern oil and increase our energy security.)

    Wotta guy!
