Holy Cow! How did this happen! Man (or Woman, if we want to be PC), is still putting out tons of CO2. No real decrease. Yet the global temps went down?
Global temperatures will drop slightly this year due to the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said.
The World Meteorological Organization’s secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer.
This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.
But experts say we are still clearly in a long-term warming trend – and they forecast a new record high temperature within five years.
Until you get down near the bottom of the article, where they start up with the “It’s Mankind’s fault!” yapping, this is a good article. It highlights that reality of climate change, namely, that it changes.
We probably are in a warming trend, considering that we were in a long term cooling trend for centuries prior to around the 1850’s. This happens. The Earth is a dynamic, changing system. And I am still waiting for the global warming chicken littles to tell us what the optimum temperature should be.
However, I will go one better then the experts: I will predict a new record high temp for April. And a new record low. A new record for snowfall. And one for rain.
Update: I missed the part, quite frankly, that this is a UN report. I have to wonder how much money the UN will attempt to extort out of developing countries when the global temps have basically been flat since 1998.
