Republicans Find a Spine

Shocking, simply shocking

WASHINGTON – Republicans blocked a full-fledged Senate debate over
Iraq on Monday, but Democrats vowed they still would find a way to force President Bush to change course in a war that has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 U.S. troops.

"We must heed the results of the November elections and the wishes of the American people," said Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Reid, D-Nev., spoke moments before a vote that sidetracked a nonbinding measure expressing disagreement with Bush's plan to deploy an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq.

The vote was 49-47, or 11 short of the 60 needed to go ahead with debate, and left the fate of the measure uncertain.

Of course, how long will they retain said spine, when the Democrats start their typical smears and hysteria, plus calling Republicans mean and partisan? Only time will tell, and by time, I mean 2-3 days.

You have to love Dingy Harry, considering that the Republicans won in 2000, 2002, and 2004, and Democrats never heeded the results of those elections and the wishes of the majority.

Mullah Cimoc say ameriki so obedient slave of masters in tel aviv. Like happy dog run to and fro.

(William Teach say stop reposting the same comment otherwise he will cut them)

  2. Theway2k says:

If only the Republicans would have found their spine when the will of the people were definitely behind the Republican agenda.

Only if the Republicans are successful with the lessons should have learned from the Democrats on how to be butt heads to get their own way.

  3. Ruben says:

The Republican party’s sheer incompetence in world affairs is as clear as if written across the very sky, but thankfully for them there are still enough people making blogs like this! Damn the liberally biased media! They’re all wrong! Ahahaha! But what do I know, I’m just a left leaning caucasian who actually lives in a Muslim country ;).

  4. You got that right, Theway2K. Will they keep the spine? Hopefully.

Ruben, what has the Democratic party done, other then surrender?

  5. Ruben says:

The Democrats have done nothing. That’s the point: they *didn’t* send your country into Iraq on fabricated intelligence. I liked the way though instead of defending your incompetent administration you realised it would be fruitless and instead you just pointed at the other guy.

Why did you assume I must be a Democrat if I hate the GOP? The Democrats are incompetent too; granted their far less gun-ho than Republicans and think more rationally, but they’re still just the lesser of two evils.

Frankly if I were an American and not an Aussie, I’d vote Libertarian ;). Or Greens, they have the sexiest promotional material.

  6. John Ryan says:

What I would like to see is the Democrats putting up a resolution in SUPPORT of the troop surge. Make the Republicans go on record for something the American people (and the troops and the Iraqi people) do not support.

10-4 and YES, besides finally finding a spine of conservatism that was MIA from 2005-2007, “Now….batting for the GOP Republican & Democrat and Independent CONSERVATIVES…#44….Mr. Mayor…Mr. November… Mr. President – Rudolph W. RUDY Giuliani – Our 44th President of the United States! Now the GOP finally has a high profile and classy candidate to smoke …… + The Beast of the East Queen Hillary Clampit Clinton + …….. in 2008! I hope Rudy selects Condi Rice or Newt Gingrich as his VP.(#44 was also Mr. October Reggie Jackson of the NY Yankees in what…1977 I think?)What do you all think? GOD, not Allah, bless US in our WAR against liberals & radical Islamic wackos incorporated. Back to the mother ship.

  8. Ruben says:

The fact you mentioned God and predictably bashing liberals made my eyes roll, but at least you said “radical Islamic” instead of just Islamic. As a caucasian guy who lives in a Muslim country I am royally fed up with people who accuse every Muslim of being a terrorist. You have no idea how the world works or how the world heaved a collective sigh of relief when the GOP lost it’s majoraty, but at least you’re not a bigot like most GOP supporters!

10-4 Ruben. I fought and flew on missions in war and peace for the Great Satan Air Force from 1976-1997 and have had the privilege of seeing 816 Kuwaiti oil rigs on fire in the air AND on the ground thanks to Saddam Insane Hussein. The same goes for the FORMER majestic World Trade Center Twin Towers North (1) and South (2)
that were kamikazed into by 10 evil radical Islamic terrorists who hijacked American Airline Flight 11 and United Flight 175, after stabbing and slitting the throats of the flight attendants, pilots and some first-class passengers on board! We used to fly over the Pentagon – Our US Military Headquarters Ruben too, where 5 radical Islamic terrorists also did the same hijack and murder ‘MO’ to American Airline Flight 77, and bounced the hijacked aircraft into the western walls – slicing through outer rings E-D and C, killing 125 US military personnel and civilians. I can’t remember if I ever flew over the Shanksville PA countryside, where the HEROES of United Flight 93 beat the camel dung out of four radical Islamic terrorists so they couldn’t crash into the White House or Nation’s U.S. Capitol!
Not too bad for an infidel, eh Ruben? “GOD, not Allah, deliver US from EVIL…Are you ready? Let’s ROLL!! Glory to the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the highest – Amen!”

  10. Ruben says:

I read your message to my Grandfather who fought the Japanese in World War II and lost an eye. He’s an atheist and we both had a good laugh. Not at the people who bravely took on their hijackers, but this whole post and the following responses in general.

I think the US government would get a lot more respect if it actually focused on things that are important. More people die every day in Africa from preventable disases than in 9/11. Then again, they’re not Caucasians, and they have no oil, so screw em :|.

  11. You know, Ruben, it would be great if the world community could help out in Africa on many fronts. Stopping stoppable diseases, the geonocide, poverty conditions. Unfortunately, the Leftist community will not allow it. Remember the book Silent Spring? Well, that caused the world leftist community to ban the use of DDT, which saved millions of human lives in Africa every year. Gov’ts in Europe, as well as the US gov’t, said if african gov’ts used it, they would get no foreign aid (did you know that the USA is the worlds largest giver of foreign aid? Well, it is.)

How do you stop the geonocide in Africa? I’m open to some ideas. They have to be better then Clinton and the UNs idea of turning their back on 850K+ Rwandans in 1994, though.

And how about the climate change disciples, who want to restrict the use of any technology that will help give the people in third world countries a better life.

  12. Ruben says:

The leftist community will not allow it? So I assume all those hippies who wanted world peace and saving people weren’t lefties after all!

I don’t know how to stop the genocide in Africa, but it’s obvious that fighting frivolous wars that have no point or relevance is not a step in the right direction. The US government has pretty much destroyed America’s reputation overseas, if Bush stopped for a second and actually even just acknowledged Africa it would go a long way to patching up.

And despite the US being the largest giver in foreign aid in “dollar terms”; per capita, per dollar of government spending and in PPP terms it’s abysmal. Did you know that? Well, it is.

I imagine by your phrase “climate change disciples” you’re referring to legislation to cut down on green house gas emissions that are raising our sea levels. It is imperative that we get as many people above the poverty line as possible (my “left wing” side showing again!) but it won’t do these people any good if by then their flooded out. That’s why it is even more important for developed countries to cut back their emissions to offset the necessary output from these countries that need the development; and we all know neither Bush or Clinton were/are up to it.

Seems though despite you being a “pure evil neocon” and me being a “hippy tree hugging lefty” (though I consider myself a centrist), we both want the same thing for the world; at least we can take comfort in that.

    Ruben SANDwich,

The Muslim community had better PRAY to Allah that Rudolph W. Giuliani doesn’t win the Republican nomination in 2008! They had also better face EAST and pray that the 44th President of the Great Satan Imperial Infidel Empire ISN’T President Rudy Giuliani in 2008, because he witnessed Americans and foreigners jumping to their deaths from the 86th floors of the WTC North and South Towers on 9-11-01 – in HIS city.
NYC Mayor Giuliani saw death, smelled death, stepped over death and tasted death from 9:10 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on 9-11-01. Go ahead and LAUGH, because that’s where we win. We have 31 RED United States of America now since President Bush was re-elected in 2004, and as for our 19 Blue States of Socialism – they too are Americans……
