WTW: 2006 SOTU Edition

Happy Wednesday, peoples. Jebediah here. Teach, and alot of people missed an opening quote from the speech:

In a system of two parties, two chambers, and two elected branches, there will always be differences and debate.  But even tough debates can be conducted in a civil tone, and our differences cannot be allowed to harden into anger.  To confront the great issues before us, we must act in a spirit of goodwill and respect for one another — and I will do my part.  Tonight the state of our Union is strong — and together we will make it stronger.  (Applause.)

Sure to be lost on the deaf seething ears of the Congressional Democrats, who offer nothing but uncivilality (it’s a word now, get over it, we do that in the South). Like W once said "a litany of complaints is not a plan." Bamm! Kickin it up a notch!

Let’s move to Yahoo News, where the headline for the AP article os "Bush Paints Democrats As Defeatist on Iraq." First paragraph:

WASHINGTON – President Bush, opening the fall campaign season, is painting Democrats as defeatist for criticizing his march to war in Iraq and protectionist for questioning new trade deals and tax-cut extensions.

Glad they have their MoveOn.org talking points down pat.

And let’s not forget the "peace Mom," who was arrested for unlawful conduct. Why does every Lefty believe they can violate the law and never face any repurcussions? Apparently, it was not a banner, but the slogan on her t-shirt. Yes, folks, she wore a t-shirt into the Capital building for the State of The Union 2006 speech. She had it on under her hooded jacket. Lynn Woolsey is actually happy about the idiocy she created.

And get this

First lady Laura Bush’s guests at her husband’s annual address to Congress certainly were diverse. One, in fact, wasn’t even human.

Rex, a 5-year-old German shepherd, fit in with the other Iraq war veterans who were guests of Republicans and Democrats.

Rex sniffed out bombs in Iraq. He’s been the subject of congressional legislation. He’s famous, and Wednesday night he became one of Mrs. Bush’s guests at the State of the Union speech.

How Rex landed such a coveted seat — actually a spot in the aisle labeled "Rex" on the official seating chart — is quite a tale.

Go Rex, and great job John Peterson (R-Pa) for getting the law changed to allow Rex to be adopted.

Ok, y’all, that’s enogh for now. Go visit some of them WTW folks on the Southpaw sidebar.

A nice dog story. I’m partial to dogs and dog stories. Dogs faithfully do what we tell them, innocent of the danger.

(its late and the wineglass is empty so – – Rex and Laura? Perhaps W should hang about the house more often?)
