Recently, I had the occassion to write my local US House critter, Brad Miller (D-13), on two issues, expressing my displeasure with his voting on two issues. He voted against HR 4128, which upheld the Rights of homeowners to be secure against gov’t siezing their homes to give to private concerns, and for voting against Blogger rights as they relate to McCain-Feingold-Hate1stamendment.
In my emails, I politely explained to him that I was a Republican, and did not vote for him, but, he was my officially and dutifully elected House representative, and, as such, I wanted to share my displeasure in his voting patterns. I also explained, again, politely, that he actually hurts Democrats way more by voting against the Free political Speech of bloggers, since Dem bloggers are into fund raising way more then Right side bloggers.
I just wanted to share what he sent back in response

What a bummer.
I wrote to our beloved Gobernator, Ahnold,…who is, erm, Republican… now I’m on the Republican “ask for donations” mailing list. I guess that’s better than crickets? Maybe if I had told ‘im that I was a Democrat, they wouldn’t be asking me for money.
I can tell you that taking a couple weeks worth of un-requested junk mail from said Republican party, stuffing it all into one of those prepaid envelopes and sending it *back* to them, does *not* get you taken off the list. Neither does calling them. Or, when they call you during dinner, politely requesting removal from their call list, or, well, anything else I’ve tried. Maybe they think that I will eventually give in and send the money? Ah. No.
So maybe you’re better off with crickets?
I want at least a “FU” from House Critter Brad 🙂
