Tomorrow morningThis morning, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will step out of her Georgetown home and into a government-owned black Chevy Tahoe sport-utility vehicle. That gas-guzzling truck will take her directly to the Rayburn House Office Building – where she will be the lead witness on a global warming hearing held by Science and Technology Committee.
The Tahoe emits 11 tons of greenhouse gases per year, according to U.S. Department of Energy. The agency ranks it as “one of the worst” vehicles on the road, according to www.fueleconomy.gov, a non-partisan government web site.
Ah, but, it gets better
Many models of the Chevy Tahoe are unavailable in Rep. Pelosi’s home state because the vehicle fails to meet California’s strict fuel-economy and environmental standards.
Just another "do as I say, not as I do" liberal.
Meanwhile, Al Gore, Mr. "We must stop global warming at all costs" himself
Emerging economies such as China are justified in holding back on fighting greenhouse gas emissions until richer polluters like the United States do more to solve the problem, former Vice President Al Gore said Wednesday.
Oh, please. This is just another case of slurring America, this time by a previous presidential contender, and the guy that the Left really wants to run.
The United States is the world's leading emitter of greenhouse gas and has refused to ratify the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on curbing such emissions.President Bush contended that it would slow the U.S. economy intolerably and that it should have required reductions by poorer but fast-growing nations, such as China and India.
I missed the part where Bush was president in the late 90's, when the Senate voted 95-0 against joining Kyoto, and the Executive Office declined to sign it.
