LA Times Doesn’t Believe Weiner, Who’s Surely Happy Edwards Was Indicted

They aren’t buying what Weiner’s selling

(LA Times) We really, really don’t want to be writing about Weinergate. Seriously. The travails of Rep. Anthony Weiner seem so much like a piece of here-today, gone-tomorrow political theater, a manufactured controversy just titillating enough to keep the Twittersphere thrumming, that we’d rather not add to the national embarrassment by throwing more ink at it. And yet…

Does anybody actually believe the distinguished Democratic member from New York when he says that he doesn’t know whether the lewd photo sent on his Twitter account to a Seattle college student was a picture of him?

The media might have continued to play along if Weiner hadn’t been such a …well, um,… wiener to the media. The media loves them some Democrat politicians, but, the media loves themselves even more. Diss them, they’ll turn on you.

Meanwhile, though, Weiner’s lame explanations seem to indicate that he has an embarrassing secret. Coming clean might be less embarrassing than continuing to feed the media beast.

Six days too late for that one. He’s taken a minor flap which could have been over in a day, and turned it into a Big Issue. But, I bet Weiner is really, really, REALLY happy that John “Silk Pony” Edwards has been indicted, as it will take some of the heat off of Weiner

ABC11 has learned that a federal grand jury has indicted former North Carolina senator and presidential candidate John Edwards.

The case of United States of America v. Johnny Reid Edwards contains six counts, including conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements.

Sources tell ABC11 that Edwards will make his first court appearance Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Winston-Salem.

And arrest warrant was issued for Edwards, per WRAL. FYI to Los Federales: I live in Raleigh, and would be happy to sit on the jury!

Oh, and as PaulVA tweeted: Edwards will learn of 2 Americas in jail “Givers and Receivers”.
