JD Vance Introduces Bill To Federally Criminalize Damaging Art By Climate Cultists

It has zero chance of passing the Senate, but, it’s a good idea. Maybe?

GOP lawmaker wants to crack down on climate change activists who deface historical artwork

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, wants to raise the stakes for climate change activists who vandalize historical artworks or damage museum property by creating harsher penalties for the crime.

The Consequences for Climate Vandals Act, introduced in the Senate on Wednesday, would also apply to the grounds or property of the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian museums and the Kennedy Center, among others, and raise the maximum prison time from five years to 10.

The consequences would mirror the current maximum prison time in England, where climate activists have frequently glued themselves to artworks or thrown soup or other liquids on protective casings of museum pieces.

“There should be no tolerance for the vandalization of our historic works of art,” Vance said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Apparently, a maximum penalty of five years in prison isn’t enough to keep these far-left protestors from tarnishing displays of cultural significance.”

He added, “Let’s make it 10 years and see if they’re still so bold.”

I’m rather torn on this: it really should be something at the local and state level, not the federal, unless the acts occur on federal property, like the Smithsonian. But, consider that these acts occur via a national group which co-ordinates across state borders even when they do it at a non-federal building. Regardless, these people are very annoying.

Surprise: GOP Led House Votes To Start Formal Impeachment Inquiry Of Brandon

House Votes to Formalize Impeachment Inquiry into Joe Biden

Biden Brain SuckerThe House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden by a vote of 221 to 212.

The formally adopted status will enable House investigators to enforce subpoenas and gather evidence about whether the president is compromised and “traded official acts for foreign dollars,” according to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Republicans unanimously voted to adopt the resolution. In a surprise, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), who had been critical of the Republicans’ impeachment focus and earlier indicated he would oppose the resolution, voted with his Republican colleagues to formalize the inquiry.

Obviously, all Democrats voted against this.

The White House failed to provide investigators:

  • Information about two loan agreements Joe Biden allegedly executed with James Biden for a total of $240,000.
  • 99.98 percent of requested records from President Joe Biden, including alias emails.
  • Documents about an alleged $5 million bribe Joe Biden accepted.
  • Materials related to Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents.

The formal process means that these documents must be provided and they can hit agencies with suboeanas and hold people in contempt of Congress if they fail to provide them. It should end the stonewalling.

Any articles of impeachment should include Biden’s policies on the border and Afghanistan debacle, those might be easier to show rather than the deep dives into Biden’s shady dealings. The GOP really needs to make this easy to understand for the 30 second soundbite folks, so much so that even friendly media outlets cannot blow it off.

Witnesses have testified about the President’s numerous interactions with his family’s foreign clients. The President and White House have repeatedly misled the public, shifted the goalposts, and stonewalled our investigation. As Chairmen Comer, Jordan and Smith have done all along, we will continue to follow the facts where they lead. The American people deserve answers. This impeachment inquiry will help us find them,” the statement concluded.

(Fox News) “The White House sent a letter… saying that the subpoenas [Republicans] had served will not be honored and won’t even be recognized without a full vote of the House. So our speaker has done exactly what I would expect he would do as a lawyer. We’re going to honor that. We’re going to go ahead and do a full floor vote,” Emmer said. “He knows we’re probably going to have to go to court to enforce these anyway, so might as well eliminate any of the objections that they have.”

It’ll be a pretty bad look when the White House continues to stonewall. And, if Biden had not said that the subpoenas weren’t legitimate without a formal vote there might have been enough squishes who would have voted against the process. Obviously, if this goes all the way there are not enough votes in the Senate to boot Joe, unless the Dems see a way out of Biden being their candidate in 2024.

Climahypocrites Make “Historic” Progress On Ending Fossil Fuels At COP28

Climate summit makes ‘historic progress’ — but the world still can’t quit oil

Climate talks in Dubai ended with a deal to curb the use of fossil fuels that was both historic and 30 years too late.

Good grief. Nothing like people who use massive amounts of fossil fuels telling you peasants you cannot use them.

The two-week conference, held in the oil-rich desert kingdom of the United Arab Emirates and presided over by an oil CEO, brought two competing realities into a painful collision. The planet is overheating, yet humanity remains inextricably reliant on coal, oil and natural gas.

The talks ended on Wednesday with a deal among almost 200 countries that committed to “transitioning away from fossil fuels,” notably by speeding up that shift before 2030. But the agreement also appeased oil-rich Gulf states by explicitly sanctioning those fuels’ use during the transition. And organizers gaveled it through so hastily that representatives for vulnerable island nations, who had a series of misgivings about the text, had yet to enter the room.

You mean those island nations with lots of airports and docks for fossil fueled cruise ships and goods ships, islands which would die without the tourism and goods and foods shipped in?

Still, leaders of the U.N. summit and representatives of major governments were quick to endorse the nonbinding pact as a historic acknowledgment that the world needs to move quickly to cleaner energy sources.

“This document sends very strong messages to the world,” said U.S. climate envoy John Kerry, who had placed his personal credibility on the line by backing the controversial choice of oil CEO Sultan al-Jaber to oversee the conference.

And then Kerry jumped in his private jet.

“This is historic progress,” said Danish Climate Minister Dan Jørgensen. “I can totally understand if our populations think that it’s a disgrace that it had to take 28 years. But now we’re here. We’re in an oil country surrounded by oil countries that are now signing a piece of paper saying we need to move away from oil. It is historic.”

And then he flew back on a private jet. The only people who this will hurt will be the middle and working class, because the Elites will still use lots of fossil fuels.

The final deal also included a pact to triple global renewable energy capacity and double the rate of energy savings through efficiency measures by 2030. And for the first time, it included a clear benchmark for reducing greenhouse gas emissions during this decade, which supporters view as a crucial guidepost for staying on track for hitting global climate goals.

Yeah, spending your money via higher taxes, and as your power bills skyrocket.

Many developing nations, in Africa and elsewhere, pointed to what they called the hypocrisy of Western countries that are continuing to expand their extraction of oil and gas while calling on others to consign those fuels to history.

Guess which nations are getting destroyed and will get worse to mine the metals necessary for “clean energy”?

UNC Chapel Hill Promises To “Do More” Over Campus Jew Hatred

UNC pledges action in response to concerns over antisemitism: ‘We will do more’

Amidst a national discourse on antisemitism, some members of the UNC-Chapel Hill community have voiced concerns over its campus environment.

“We had a student saying that they support Hamas. We had fliers calling for the destruction of the state of Israel,” said Neill Motus, a junior who grew up in Israel.

“I hear Jewish jokes every single day. I hear antisemitism every single week. It’s unfair. I’ve never in my entire life ever seen this,” added sophomore Justin Sonnenreich.

Over the past two months, ABC11 has spoken with students, faculty, parents, and donors, who have expressed their hopes the university would take stronger measures to support Jewish students.

“The Jewish community at UNC represents below 2% of the student body. And I think it’s imperative for the Jewish community to seek out growth, to seek out understanding and to bridge this gap,” expressed Sonnenreich.

If any other group acted the way the pro-Hamas demonstrators did the administration would have identified who they were and kicked them out and then held a forum explaining that the campus does not stand for that type of hateful and violent rhetoric, nor for physical harassment of other students. While the UNC chancellor has said the right things, and was blasted by other employees of Chapel Hill, nothing has been done

In a statement, Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz responded to the event (2 weeks ago):

“I was appalled by the remarks of a visiting speaker at a recent event on our campus regarding the war in the Middle East. Her language did not align with the values of our university community. Our university strives for discussions made rich by expertise and a variety of perspectives. We expect those conversations to bring learning and understanding, not applause or support for violence or prejudice. We have made our expectations clear to our campus and will continue to do so. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences is reviewing the practices and policies for how panels are organized, and how we support free speech, and also host events that encourage respectful debate rather than hate.”

He was appalled, like he was appalled from previous “protests”, and has done nothing.

She emphasized other efforts to foster understanding amongst all students.

“I know that we are planning to do a lot more training around issues of antisemitism, discrimination, Islamophobia. I think that that we can step it up and engage more folks in the conversation. It’s a large campus. And in talking with some of our students, they’re not even aware of what’s going on in the world in terms of Israel and Hamas, so I think we have to do a better job of making sure that they’re engaged in those conversations because these are their fellow classmates that are feeling this pain and this hurt and these threats. And so we can do more and I think we will do more,” Cox explained, adding university officials have participated in panel discussions with Jewish, Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian students.

And, that appears to be it. Conversation. How do you have one with people who support wiping Israel from the map and killing Jews? Who support what Hamas did on October 7?

In response to those reservations, Schiff has cancelled plans to attend his 60th reunion next year, and ceased contributions to the university, including a planned six-figure donation as part of his will.

It could be that the university is saying they are going to Do Something because they are seeing donations dry up. But, they aren’t really doing anything. Because they’d rather allow the Jew hatred, intimidation, and harassment than get blasted with calls of Islamophobia for punishing the pro-Hamas students and faculty. Like most Democratic party run college, they’re doing nothing.

Like thousands of researchers around the globe, they’re compiling increasing evidence that climate change is bringing weirder weather, even in frigid locations like this northeastern landmark.

Notoriously fickle, the world’s weather is lurching from one extreme to another more often and to a greater degree as the warming atmosphere pushes natural variability to new extremes, breaking records time and again, the researchers say.

Blah blah blah. It’s just more people living in areas that witness weather and whining about it because they’ve been indoctrinated.

“People are experiencing climate change right now, right outside their windows, especially through the impacts of extreme weather events,” said Allison Crimmins, director of this fifth national assessment.

No, people are experiencing weather. Weather happens. What we really need is an alien invasion or zombie apocalypse, so people have real things to worry about.

DHS Warns Of Threats To Public Safety Over Christmas

FBI, DHS warn of ‘threats to public safety’ during holiday season, amplified by Israel-Hamas conflict

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are warning the public of heightened threats to public safety this holiday season and through winter associated with the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

The FBI says it is “closely monitoring threats to public safety during the holiday season which may be amplified” by the war.

“We take all potential threats seriously and will work closely with our law enforcement partners to determine their credibility, share information, and take appropriate investigative action,” the bureau says in a PSA.

If they did they’d be shutting down the border and rejected all of those Quakers coming in, legally and illegally

Per an assessment from the FBI and DHS, ongoing tensions related to the conflict between Israel and Hamas “likely heighten the threat of lone actor violence targeting large public gatherings throughout the winter, including holiday-related, faith-based, New Year’s Eve, and First Amendment protected events related to the conflict.”

The bureau says these targets are likely to remain “attractive to lone actors inspired by a range of ideologies due to their accessibility and symbolic nature.”

It’s weird that DHS and the FBI are just couching this in just generic terms. Who would be considering lone actor violence around Christmas time? They’re simply too chickenshit and involved with multiculturalism, diversity, and other leftist idiocy to do their jobs.

Climate Cult Super Worried About Artificial Intelligence

AI emissions are fueling a new doomerism. This time it’s climate change

There is a new doomer narrative over artificial intelligence emerging in the background at this year’s COP meeting. This one isn’t focused on a malignant superintelligence. Instead, it is over sustainability and concerns over AI’s burgeoning energy demands.

A recent study projects that by 2027, NVIDIA’s new AI servers will be consuming over 85.4 terawatt-hours annually, exceeding the energy usage of countries such as Sweden and Argentina.

Research from the University of Massachusetts Amherst suggesting that training a single AI model can emit over 284 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the lifetime emissions of five average American cars, paints a concerning picture of AI’s environmental impact. Annually, AI’s carbon footprint is approaching 1% of global emissions.

AI’s energy demands have indeed increased dramatically. A Stanford study flags a 300,000-fold rise in AI systems’ power requirements since the early 2010s. And some of this energy is derived from fossil fuels, with data centers globally consuming over 1% of global electricity, a third of which comes from coal and natural gas.

Yeah, it’s pretty much typical for the climate cult to look at something happening and say “hey, we need to drag this into our cult”

However, what the doomers miss is the ingenuity of human research and industry. Analyzing IT’s electricity consumption back to the 2000s, Jonathan Koomey and colleagues found that the energy intensity of the global data center industry dropped by around 20% per year between 2010 and 2018. Efficiency gains in data centers, chips, and programming have outstripped the increase in energy use.

This human factor is what the doomers’ narrative misses, suggesting that while AI’s energy demands are growing, so too are the efficiencies in the systems that support it.

The Warmists do not care. Once they’ve latched onto an issue they will never let it go.

This is the kind of insanity we get from Warmists: they take long fossil fueled trips to say we need to ditch fossil fuels.

New Mexico Governor Pushes Pushes Different “Assault Rifle” Reform

Governor wants New Mexico legislators to debate new approach to regulating assault-style weapons

New Mexico could become an early political testing ground for a proposal to make assault-style weapons less deadly.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Monday said she’ll encourage the state’s Democratic-led Legislature to consider statewide restrictions that mirror an unconventional proposal from U.S. senators aimed at reducing a shooter’s ability to fire off dozens of rounds a second and attach new magazines to keep firing.

The proposed federal Go Safe Act was named after the internal cycling of high-pressure gas in the firearms in question and comes from such senators as New Mexico’s Martin Heinrich, a Democrat. If approved, it would mean assault-style weapons would have permanently fixed magazines, limited to 10 rounds for rifles and 15 rounds for some heavy-format pistols.

“I’ve got a set of lawmakers that are more likely than not to have a fair debate about guns, gun violence, weapons of war and keeping New Mexicans safe than members of Congress are,” said Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, at a news conference in the state Capitol. “We will have to see how those votes all shake out.”

The Democrats have comfortable majorities in both the house and senate in the New Mexico general assembly, so, they can easily pass it if they so choose. But, what would all this accomplish? Will criminals comply, or will it just turn law abiding citizens into criminals while the real criminals do what they want? This is all an end run around the 2nd Amendment and Supreme Court rulings, which the Court will surely figure out.

Further, this is beyond disingenuous: no semi-automatic rifle or handgun can fire off dozens of rounds a second. You didn’t expect the Associated Press and “journalist” Morgan Lee to be honest and/or know how guns work.

If the GOP had any brains, even at the state level, they’d introduce legislation to allow those who protect the governor and others in the New Mexico governor to only carry the Go Safe approved weapons.
