Pick a holiday, and you can virtually guarantee that someone in the Cult Of Climastrology will link it to “climate change”. For this Memorial Day, The Baltimore Sun and its Editorial Board win the Moonbat Award with their “the sky is melting, the sky is melting” mantra
It’s Memorial Day, and the forecast is for renewed mocking and derision regarding man-made climate change from the know-nothing, science-averse wing of the Republican Party. President Barack Obama’s warning — issued during his commencement address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy graduation ceremonies Wednesday — that climate change represents a national security threat seems certain to provoke that kind of stormy reaction.
For those who actually serve in the military, however, the response is far likelier to be something along the lines of a matter-of-fact “yes, sir.” Whether it’s flooding or more severe storms at U.S. Navy bases or the manner in which thawing permafrost is damaging military facilities in Alaska, the evidence of the changing global climate is pretty obvious to the men and women in uniform. With climate-induced rising sea levels already causing problems for some coastal communities, the Coast Guard is certain to be on the front lines of this particular challenge right along with the National Guard.
Of course they say “yes, sir”, because their bosses have told them to, along with gay marriage and other Progressive policies being enforced on the military. No one is actually denying climate change: the argument is on causation. Will the Baltimore Sun give up their own use of fossil fuels to deliver their paper, and stop killing trees to publish their paper?
Perhaps what Senator Cruz and others should do is simply visit the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis where faculty have been looking into how much damage climate change will have on coastal facilities around the Chesapeake Bay and what are the most cost-effective strategies to deal with it. That might teach them why the Navy and the other branches of the military can’t afford to be climate deniers anxious to appease special interests or play to certain voters: They have a country to defend. As Mr. Obama observed, “climate change impacts every country on the planet.” It’s no laughing matter to imagine a future president who would ignore such an obvious security threat for no good reason beyond some measure of short-term political gain.
Yes, let’s let them visit and ask the Naval members exactly what their opinions are in private, without the command influence of those above them who are Cult of Climastrology members, who demand Obedience. Changes in climate will always have effects on life, some good, some bad. A massive change in the climate from an asteroid 65 million years ago had a pretty bad effect on dinosaurs, but led to the rise of the mammals, and Mankind. The climate changes, there’s no need to assign blame to Mankind. Unless someone has a political agenda.
All that said, it’s beyond shameful that the Baltimore Sun uses the occasion of Memorial Day to push its wholly unscientific political doctrine. All for new taxes, as well as for more government and less personal freedom, freedom which our military members gave their lives to defend.

Here’s the Editorial Board on What We Owe
I N MAY 1945, the German army, known then as the Wehrmacht, issued a final statement acknowledging its defeat after “almost six years of heroic fighting,†during which “The German soldier, true to his oath, has in the service of his nation achieved feats that will never be forgotten.†The statement, which of course leaves out quite a lot, concludes thus: “The dead compel us to unconditional loyalty, to obedience and discipline toward the Fatherland, bleeding from countless wounds.â€
On this Memorial Day 70 years later, many of the peoples whose nations fought that war (including Germans) have long since concluded that we owe our war dead no such thing. We owe them lasting honor for what they give up for their country, for lives cut short in youth or destroyed by physical or mental wounds. But the greater debt is for certain freedoms defended — freedom from the demand for loyalty without moral boundaries, from unquestioning obedience to higher orders and from discipline without law or mercy.
The debt we owe is still growing today, and it is beyond our means to repay in full. Abraham Lincoln stated it succinctly at Gettysburg with his series of negatives: “We can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground.†As Lincoln had it, the greater part of that work had been done by the war dead, and completing it was more than a matter of speeches, ceremonies and memorial statuary. It was, and is, a steady and abiding commitment to government chosen by, conducted by and dedicated to the good of its people, and a willingness to sacrifice to ensure the survival of that form of government — including the minimal but often neglected obligation to pay attention to what our leaders are doing, to listen and speak out and vote. In short, to make the thing work.
At first blush, it almost seems as if the WPEB is telling us that we must be Loyal to Government, but, taken in total, they’re stating that there should be a commitment to preserving our governmental system, as laid forth within our founding documents. To hold Government accountable, from the politicians to the bureaucrats.
Our brave men and women fought for the freedoms in our system. They fought against totalitarian/authoritarian governments in Europe. Interestingly enough, Lincoln fought to increase the power of the federal government, reducing the power of the States. Something to think about.
A question for the Washington Post: what, exactly, are they doing to hold government accountable to the People, when their coverage is extremely partisan, and the side they have chosen has more in common with the Germany of World War II? One which does, in fact, demand “Unconditional loyalty and obedience” to a government and the Party leaders? One which, after decades of trying to destroy our military, is now working overtime to turn it into a breeding ground of Progressive (nice fascist) ideals?

Happy Sunday! Another great day in America, and a wonderful day to remember all those who gave their lives to create and defend this Nation. This pinup is by Earl Moran, with a wee bit of help.
What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets†calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me
Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

What is Cli-fi? No, it’s not something sexusal
(UK Telegraph) Climate activists are targeting children through a new range of ‘cli-fi’ – climate fiction – novels which seek to highlight the dangers of global warming.
David Thorpe, author of the book Stormteller, said that children were more open minded and claimed that writers could ‘infect’ their minds with ‘seriously subversive viral ideas’.
“I like writing for children because their minds are still forming,” said Mr Thorpe whose novel is set in a coastal Wales ravaged by climate change and rising sea levels.
“They are asking all sorts of questions about how the world is working. Their minds haven’t been tainted by ideological bias, they are still open minded about it.
“You can try to be seriously subversive and try to infect their minds with these viral ideas that they can explore on their own to make it exciting. When I was that age I loved having my mind boggled.”
In other words, they are using cli-fi to indoctrinate children, to scare children, to put fear in their minds, and give them all sorts of anxieties. It’s intellectual and spiritual child molestation, using a flawed and failed “science”. It started with Al Gore’s horribly bad movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, full of many errors. In the UK, schools must warn of bias and errors when it is shown, per a High Court order.
George Marshall, one of the writers in attendance, “founder of the Climate Outreach Information Network and author of Don’t Even Think About It: Why our Brains Are Wired to Ignore Climate Change”, has taken issue with the way this is being portrayed in the comments for the story
As one of the participants in this event I strongly object to the slant suggested in the byline that we were discussing a strategy for “activists” to “target children”. Policy makers across the political spectrum regard climate change to be one of the key issues of our time and were we discussing the ways that artists and writers respond to this in their work. Of course children’s writing should be a part of this, but, as Saci Lloyd and David Thorpe pointed out, good writing for all ages is driven by strong stories and characters not by political messaging. I would add that I never said that people are “bored” by science, but rather that attitudes are formed by narratives not data: a conclusion, incidentally, derived from rigourous cognitive research.
To which socalpa has responded
Do you then deny an intent to manipulate the young by introducing an element of Fear regarding Weather/Climate ?
“attitudes are formed by narratives not data:” ?
Why then must a “narrative” be introduced to young minds ?
Is it because the data shows different implications then the ones desired by the writers ? Clearly, the actual science shows many contradictory scenarios for the future impacts of Global Warming. The catastrophic scenarios largely debunked by this centuries science.
This is political. Otherwise, a narrative would not be needed.
Meanwhile, more climate-fiction at the movie theaters
(Daily Beast) George Clooney’s new summer blockbuster shames us for our roles in global warming and a potpourri of other earthly calamities.
Never has commercialism and idealism blended so beautifully, and still so discordantly.
A $190 million summer blockbuster starring George Clooney based on an area in a Disney theme park hits theaters, presumably hoping to rake in at least that much at the box office. Its narrative goal, however: to get you to stop caring so much about the vapid capitalistic things that are ruining us all and instead maybe do something to make the world a better place.
Is this the same George Clooney has multiple McMansions and takes lots and lots of fossil fueled travel around the world?
The logline for Tomorrowland is deceptively complicated for a film so aggressively blunt with its message. That message, by the way? We have the power to save the world, should we choose to use it.
It’s Al Gore by way of Captain Planet, Disney-approved.
We’re introduced to a wide-eyed teenager named Casey (played by Britt Robertson), the daughter of a NASA engineer, who refuses to accept the end of the Space Race era, and the optimism and spirit it embodied.
The next part is the wee bit of sci-fi wonkiness: Casey is recruited by an ageless adolescent android who gives her a pin that transports her to Tomorrowland—a Jetsons-like utopia where the brightest, purest minds in the world were meant to gather to manufacture the brightest future possible.
OK, so, a summer blockbuster (we’ll have to see how the box-office figures work out) that’s preachy and, well, preachy. Just what everyone wants in a summer movie. One which tells us that we should bow down to the “experts” and allow them to manufacture our futures.
It does delve into more than just “climate change”, featuring a myriad of other issues, to be clear. But, of course, the Cult of Climastrology is working hard to subsume all those issues, such as poverty, obesity, starvation, and real ecological problems, under the One True Banner of “climate change”.
Can’t I just watch a movie and read a book?

Biden To The Navy: ‘Our Forces Will Have To Be Ready’ For Climate Change http://t.co/QDOgzzVxg3 pic.twitter.com/eusjjE6E7v
— Indy Patriot (@indyp8riot) May 22, 2015
Speaking at a Commencement Ceremony for the Naval Academy today, Vice President Joe Biden warned graduates that they would have to be prepared for the devastating effects of climate change.
“We’ll rely on you, the United States Navy, to lead in solving these emerging problems,†he said, pointing to the massive devastation caused by a major typhoon in the Philippines.
If your company president and his flunky VP are telling you to Do Something and to Believe in something, do you, at the least, pay lip service? Especially if you are a high ranking officer in the company?
And then Joe jumped in his fossil fueled vehicle to head back to his home, surrounded by multiple fossil fueled Secret Service vehicles.

Just to be clear, the “surprise” in the headline is 100% sarcastic
(Fox News) Crime is rising in Baltimore, and some law enforcement experts suspect an anti-cop climate stemming from the racially charged case of Freddie Gray is at least partly responsible.
Homicides in 2015 so far stand at 100, up from 71 for the same period last year, and on pace to be the Charm City’s deadliest year since 2007. Nonfatal shootings are up 70 percent this year, following a particularly violent week that saw 19 people shot on Tuesday and Wednesday alone.
“It’s extremely frustrating,†Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said Thursday. “It is disheartening, but I am still resolved to continue to reduce violent crime in our city.â€
Hey, these “protesters” just thought she was providing them room to destroy.
“Regarding the crime increase in the western district, this is certainly a contentious time in our city and we believe there is a criminal element taking advantage of the situation, Gene Ryan, President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3 in Baltimore said in a statement to FoxNews.com. “Police are not responsible for the systemic issues of poverty that have plagued our communities. There has been a lot of finger pointing and the weight is heavy on our officers’ shoulders.â€
Who is responsible? How about the Democratic leaders who have been in charge for Baltimore lock, stock, and barrel since the late 1960’s?
Rawlings-Blake said Baltimore has faced crime spikes in the past and managed to reverse them. She said she was “confident†that the police department would do so again.
But will the Baltimore PD want to? Previously, they’ve had to do things like cancel all leave and surge huge numbers of officers down to the Harbor area in order to stop roving bands of young, and, yes, Black male hoodlums from performing acts of criminality for the July 4th holiday weekend in 2013. Nor was this the first time this happened. If Eric Holder wants us to not be cowards on race, we have to acknowledge who is performing the majority of crime in a city that is just “safer than 3% of cities in the U.S.” A city where there are violent crime rate is 14.28. The national median is 3.8. A city where there is a 1 in 70 chance of being victim of a violent crime. Where there’s a 1 in 20 chance of being a victim of a property crime. A city where there are 438 crimes per square mile.
“The police down there [Baltimore] are definitely cautious,†NYPD Sgt. Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association in New York, toldFoxNews.com. “I’m sure many of them think, ‘If I go and get involved what is the consequence?’â€
Mullins said politicians who second-guess police are to blame, not cops. During initial rioting following Gray’s death, police officials told Fox News Rawlings-Blake had ordered them not to make arrests, even as they were pelted with rocks by angry crowds.
“There’s pure lack of political accountability,†Mullins said. “All we have seen lately are Baltimore police officers running from people who attack them and not getting arrested for it.â€
How many of the “protesters” were arrested and charged? Similar to Ferguson, few who were arrested ended up facing any consequences.
