NPR Missing The Woke Climate Pope

Remember, NPR is a completely neutral “news” outlet. And they would never use the death of the Pope to push the climate cult

Pope Francis focused on climate change as the planet continued to get hotter

In addition to being the spiritual leader of about 1.4 billion Catholics, Pope Francis advocated for taking action on climate change. That’s not surprising for a pontiff who was the first to take the name of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology.

Over his 12 years as the head of the Catholic Church, Francis repeatedly raised the problem of human-caused global heating from burning fossil fuels and he encouraged people—including world leaders—to do something about it.

His 2015 encyclical brought an influential voice into the global discussion, just as leaders were finalizing an important agreement in Paris, which aimed to address the problem. And as humans continued to heat the planet with pollution from fossil fuels, Francis’ missives became progressively more urgent. Researchers felt these writings boosted Francis’ prominence as a climate advocate, though they appear to have largely failed to change people’s minds about climate change. Still supporters say he brought together science, morality and faith in new ways for his church.

I prefer not to speak ill of the dead so quick, but, Pope Francis seemed more concerned with things other than The Bible, Jesus, and protecting and spreading Christianity. He seemed super concerned about the climate scam to the point where he seemed to worship the gods of the cult, violating the 1st Commandment. Environmental protection is one thing: taking the positions of a doomsday climate cult is something else, and seems to violate that whole “false idols” thing.

Francis’ climate encyclical inspired several Catholic climate groups to form, including The Global Catholic Climate Movement, which is now called the Laudato Si’ Movement.

“All around the world, you saw all of these people reading the encyclical, writing letters to the editor, posting on social media, forming discussion groups in their parishes,” says Rebecca Elliott, senior director for strategy and special projects at Laudato Si’ Movement.

The nonprofit group says it has worked in 140 countries and trained about 20,000 community leaders it calls “animators,” people who put into practice the ideas Francis has advocated. “They’re educating the next generation in care for creation. They’re planting trees. They’re holding litter cleanups. They’re doing mobilizations and marches to advocate for better policies,” Elliott says.

Are they teaching Catholicism and the teachings of Jesus? Or the golden calf of global boiling?

Landrum says Francis likely will be remembered as an “advocate for climate change” and as “an environmental pope.” While he may not have changed many conservative minds, she says, “I think that he did plant a flag, and to say that climate change mitigation is consistent with socially conservative values and with Catholic values.”

Well, he won’t be remembered as someone who cared about Catholicism.

Repubicunt Marjorie Tater Greene claimed your god made the world a better place by killing Pope Francis. Teach agrees!

    Most MAGAts agree too!

    MAGAts are disgusting.

“Today there were major shifts in global leaderships. Evil is being defeated by the hand of God,” Greene tweeted late Monday morning.

        That’s it.

And of course a disgusting Rimjob along with other demoncra5s fabricates the meaning of her words.

I don’t believe JD Vsnce killed Pope Francis but just caused him to lose the will to live.

  4. Professor Hale says:

Interesting that the Left is glorifying the Pope for his stances on Climate and immigration, but not the central feature of his life’s work: Christianity.

Naturally the Left loves the Pope NOW that his is dead and no longer pointing out their sinful habits like abortion, slavery, child trafficking, recreational drug use, and multiple sexual perversions. If anything, the Pope was the Vatican’s Joe Biden. Old, frail and senile. Rarely seen in public and the Vatican staff actually running everything in his name.

  5. It is a common failing of political liberals and political conservatives alike to try to pigeonhole the late Pontiff specifically, or Catholic Church in general, as liberal or conservative, because our faith is not based on politics.

On the politically conservative side, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

§2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

§2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

§2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

The Church is also opposed to ‘transgenderism,’ artificial contraception, pornography, plural marriage, remarriage after divorce, prenatal infanticide, IVF, and several other things.

On the politically liberal side, the church supports free immigration, fighting global warming climate change, wants to see a ceasefire in Ukraine — oh, wait, that’s us evil conservatives! — and in Gaza. The Church opposes capital punishment. Pope Francis said that this isn’t official church doctrine, but his personal hope that Hell is empty, which raises the obvious questions of where are Adolf Hitler, Judas Iscariot, Josef Stalin, and Margaret Sanger? The Church is not a fan of capitalism.

This is our parish’s Laudato si and solar power page. It lists primarily conservation goals, and isn’t wild-eyed warmist stuff, and I agreed with all but one, the installation of an electric car charger, not because I am opposed to electric car chargers, but due to practicality issues: even with our solar power array, this would be a major electrical project, and would be extremely difficult to manage.

The question of what is being taught is not an either/or, but the answer is and. Fr Montoya really isn’t big on the Laudato si stuff, and his homilies are very heavily on religion, but he’s not opposed to Laudato si goals. I’m not on the Laudato si committee, because I missed the parish council meeting where it was put in place, but I have my own projects: I have to refinish the main doors on the church, and I have a small concrete patching project to do.

  7. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr Teach’s disdain for the Pope is distasteful. Protestant fundamentalists have long opposed Catholics. Our beloved Klansmen hated not just negroes, Jews and homosexuals but also Catholics.

Mr Teach is upset that Pope Francis would dare mention global warming, the poor or the persecution of homosexuals, preferring him to persecute homosexuals and preach about abortion just as Jesus* did.

Mr Teach insults Pope Francis as “WOKE”, even implying the Pope is part of a cult! Just abhorent.

*Would the Biblical scholars here cite Jesus’s teachings on abortion and homosexuals?
