Looks like a reasonably conducted set of studies!! In their additional small pilot clinical study they found 7 of 12 volunteers had a significant increase in nasal expression of interferon-stimulated genes which in their mouse and hamster studies correlated with a reduction in Covid and influenza titers and disease.
They should conduct a larger placebo, randomized, double-blinded powered with enough individuals to determine if Neosporin significantly reduces contracting Covid or influenza. Since Neosporin is an approved OTC medicine anyone can already use it.
BTW, azithromycin is not a component of Neosporin ointment. I don’t remember doctors being mocked for administering azithromycin (AZM) for SARS-CoV-2. Since there was little or no evidence to support that AZM was effective against Covid-19, there was no reason to use it.
