Unsurprise: United Arab Emirates Flooding Blamed On Global Boiling

There is article after article after article on this, but, the amazing thing is that there hasn’t even been time to do proper research to make any true scientific determination as to causation, much less Blaming it on humanity (photo by Christopher Pike/Bloomberg via Getty Images)

Historic rainfall in the United Arab Emirates sparks cloud seeding concerns. But experts say climate change is likely to blame for flooding.

The United Arab Emirates and Oman saw record levels of rainfall this week. The UAE, a desert nation, witnessed the heaviest rainfall in 75 years on Tuesday, with about 10 inches in one day, according to the country’s National Center of Meteorology.

Cars were submerged on major highways, while the deluge flooded Dubai’s international airport, disrupting flights at the world’s busiest airfield for international travel.

Oman’s National Committee for Emergency Management recorded about 9 inches of rain between Sunday and Wednesday, while several people were confirmed dead, including schoolchildren in a vehicle swept away by floodwaters.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up: heaviest in 75 years (there’s some amazing photos at that link above)? I’ll be honest, I gave up trying to search how much there was in 1949 (which was in the cooling time during the Modern Warm Period) because there are so many links to the current flooding that mention 1949 but do not give how much. Page after page after page.

Many have speculated that cloud seeding operations by the UAE were to blame for the extreme weather, though experts have said the likely culprit is climate change.

Interesting: “experts” immediately discount cloud seeding, but, can claim that it is ‘climate change’? Was it cloud seeding? Probably not. But, we do not know yet. Was it simply an outlier storm which could have links to the notion that the Earth does, in fact, go through warm periods, and it was made worse by Dubai really not having the infrastructure to move that rainfall out, not having the drainage? Most likely. In Cult Science it is always your fault, regardless of if any scientific investigation has been done.

I sure hope they captured and retained a lot of that rainfall.

Not only was global warming climate change at fault, but since Donald Trump is responsible for global warming climate change, it’s all his fault!

  2. Professor Hale says:

So Trump gets credit for turning the desert green. There is nothing he cannot do.

“heaviest rainfall in 75 years on Tuesday”

IOW, it’s happened before. But THIS time, Climate Change!!!! is to blame.

Sounds like Liberal logic (Pat. Pending) to me.

  4. ruralcounsel says:

So someone thought they could alter the weather artificially, and it did not go as planned.
Sounds a lot like the climate altering plans of Gates et al who want to obscure the sun, or dump rust into arctic waters, or otherwise change nature. Perhaps WWE should take this as a warning about what happens when we allow billionaires and ivory tower universities to play around with our planet.

    Lol
Of course this is just normal during a warning holocene era
People often take extreme partisan positions. And of course they are the easiest to rebut.

Teach, remember how excited you were when 10+ years ago that “the snow in Abu Dhabi (on a mountain top) definitely proved that the Earth was not warming. In fact since 1998 was extremely hot, you postulated the Earth ess in fact cooling?

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Climates are changing. It’s in the name.

The Earth is retaining more heat energy today than it was a century ago. As you know most of the Earth’s surface is covered by deep oceans, some 321,000,000 cubic miles of salty water!! The gods have given water a high specific heat, meaning it takes a lot of energy to heat it (4.186 J/g°C, meaning that it requires 4.186 J of energy to heat a gram (1 mL) by one degree!). This means our oceans are buffering global warming for us. Thank the gods of chemistry for our oceans absorbing record amounts of heat!

William Teach refers to the current run up in global average surface temperature as a typical Holocene warming period. Curiously, Mr Teach doesn’t ‘believe’ the current temperature data but DOES ‘believe’ temperature data from thousands of years ago!!

there is nothing curious about that. Temperature data from thousands of years ago wasn’t being purchased by an influenced by left wing nuts that believed that the world was coming to an end because we were driving cars. It only exists because it was and it’s a fact not because select fascist professors running a communist school got a government grant to spend $16,000,000 on it to arrive at that conclusion.

When are you going to realize that all the crap the left spoon feeds you are lies?

  7. Elwood P. Dowd says:

“Rainfall from thunderstorms, like the ones seen in UAE in recent days, sees a particular strong increase with warming. This is because convection, which is the strong updraft in thunderstorms, strengthens in a warmer world,” said Dim Coumou, a professor in climate extremes at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Hmmm, so more heat and more water vapor leads to more storms? Stupid professors. Here in the real world we understand the gods control everything.

    • Jl says:

“So more heat and water vapor lead to more storms?” And when it’s fits the cult’s narrative that same heat and water vapor miraculously leads to more droughts in areas where there’s always been droughts. Amazing. Sorry, but there no evidence there’s any more or intense storms than there used to be
