If All You See…

…is an evil gas powered stove, you might just be a Warmist

The blog of the day is American Greatness, with a post on a judge overturning NYC’s vax mandate (it’s about time), telling the city they must rehire terminated employees and give them back pay.

The fascist police in Texas are whining that anyone over 20 can carry a firearm there without license or permit. The police want all the guns to themselves so they can more easily control us! The legislature is considering dropping the age to 18.

When Tony Earls and his wife were robbed at an ATM in Houston, the hapless robber took off not knowing that Mr Earls was carrying! Earls fired several times, unfortunately missing the robber but killing Arlene Alvarez, a 9-year-old girl riding in a passing pickup. A grand jury refused to indict Earls saying that he didn’t violate Texas law.

The bright side is that the robber, still loose, will likely reconsider before robbing again, knowing now his victims are not helpless! Anyway, you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet, and we’ll likely see some innocents killed as we apply our freedoms!!

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

There can be NO legal constraints on keeping or bearing arms. It says so in the Constitution. Is an 18 year old age limit Constitutional? How about 16, or 14, or 12? And how about the limits on actions, e.g., fully auto weapons? Or rounds? Many states limit shotguns to only 3 or 4 shots. Aren’t those limits unConstitutional?

Tell us some more about that pregnant 11 year old who can’t get an abortion.

A man shooting wildly at an alleged robber, instead killed an innocent 9 yr old little girl riding down the street in pickup truck, AND that is not a violation of Texas law!

Just a side effect of FREEDOM! There is no FREEDOM from being shot by a vigilante, but there is FREEDOM for a vigilante to shoot wildly into a crowd. Viva Texas!!

If Mr Earls has any possessions he should be sued for every one of them, although Texas law may protect him from even civil liability.

Does the 2nd Amendment guarantee me the right to carry RPGs?

    • david7134 says:

      John,
Is an RPG classed as a gun? If so you have that right. But the way our government acts is to ignore your rights. You can take them to court but never win due to corruption and the fact you don’t have enough money.

    • Professor Hale says:

      Hairy,
This has already been asked and answered. The answer is no. The constitution does not guarantee you the right to carry an RPG. Everyone knows that RPGs are not made in America. You would have a right though to carry any of the fine anti-rank rockets that are in common use in the US military, if you could afford one.

While RPGs are covered as “arms”, the militia clause limits the role of government in the regularization of the arms used to those with military value. I will leave the issue of how much infringement others are comfortable with but I see the active elements of the 2nd amendment to be advisory, not prohibitive. Thus, specialists could arrive for militia duty with specialized weapons that they believe are superior to the military provided versions.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

What part of “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”, do nuCons not understand?

Are you now arguing that “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State” somehow modifies the right of the people to keep and bear arms??

And where in the Second Amendment does it restrict using arms manufactured outside the US?

So, there is nothing to stop a US billionaire from buying shoulder-fired rocket launchers to distribute to his minions? Good!! That possibility alone should help keep those commie dems en garde!

The truth is our Constitution means exactly whatever the Supreme Court says it means. When the court changes so can the Constitution!!

Today, if a mentally ill teenage boy wants an AR-15 style rifle, a dozen magazines and a thousand rounds, it is his sacred right!

        • Professor Hale says:

If only there was some vast resource of information where you could look up for yourself past supreme court decisions and notes left behind by the writers of the constitution, and even the arguments that were made to ratify it. Then you could cut-paste from that resource here for yourself. I know you like to think that you are covering new ground here, but these issues have already been well covered. There is literally nothing new to say about it. Every one of your argumentum ad absurdum statements have been used before, and answered.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

And yet, “Americans” such as you claim a ban on assault weapons is unConstitutional.

In your “mind” it’s all settled law, LOL.

  4. Tom Kay says:

It’s actually the right to bear arms, meaning the arms of the day so the answers is yes. That being said no court in this country will ever say that in the modern era. For example Privateers were typically funded and run as private operations with “letters” or “commissions” from the government. That merely meant they worked for a particular side and hopefully didn’t get hung as pirates. (Yes I have over simplified things; however, I don’t have time to write a doctoral paper.)

As an aside the girl is hot and I knew (not dated a girl like her) she went camping once and we never heard the end of it at the office for a month! Still https://www.thepiratescove.us/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

  5. Elwood P. Dowd says:

How much is Saudi Arabia paying DonJon tRump to host their LIV Golf tournaments?

An ex-president of the US is receiving money from the 9/11 promoting, US reporter vivisectioning, gas-price raising, in bed with Putin, Saudis??

The Saudis are paying professional golfers millions each to participate in their new Golf Tour. The term for this is “Sports Washing”, much like China and Russia do during Olympic Games in their countries.

Is there nothing The Don won’t do for money?

    • Professor hale says:

Is there nothing The Don won’t do for money?

He won’t be president for money. He did that for free.

If you looked on the internet using something called a “search engine” you could probably have found that out for yourself and even found more examples of Trump doing things and not getting paid for it. I don’t see you complaining about the millions that Netflix “paid” the Obamas or the half million Russia paid Bill Clinton for giving a speech. It seems you aren’t outraged by former presidents in general earning a living. You aren’t even outraged by former presidents and their family members being paid millions from foreign governments in what can only be called bribery. Just more cut-paste from democratic party approved activist talking points. Boring.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Conmenter: He won’t be president for money. He did that for free.

Just stop it. He eschewed his pay but his company did even better, LOL. Trump is a monomoral asswipe but he knows how to grift. He put his daughter and son-in-law in the White House and they personally made hundreds of millions! His own hunters, Eric and JR, made millions. His hotel in DC made millions from foreigners while he was prezzy, but he unloaded it ASAP once he was canceled by voters. He charged the Secret Service millions for protecting him and his family at tRump tOwer and mAr-a-lAgo!! Ivanka was granted at least 41 trademarks in China by spring 2019. And there is no clear reckoning of how much tRumpCo has received from Russia.

The Don did not serve as prezzy for nothing. And he continues to profit from his expected 2024 run.
