Trump court announcement set for Saturday as Amy Coney Barrett emerges as a favorite
President Donald Trump said Tuesday he plans to announce his new Supreme Court nominee at 5 p.m. on Saturday, claiming that the country will need all nine justices in order to decide on the legality of mail-in ballots following the November elections.
Judge Amy Coney Barrett has emerged as Trump’s overwhelming favorite to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, according to several people familiar with the deliberations.
Barrett was back at the White House Tuesday for a second day in a row, according to two sources familiar. The sources said she impressed Trump and others during initial White House meetings on Monday.
Trump has not finalized his decision, and with days to go until he announces his pick on Saturday, his thinking could change.
Trump is supposedly working out a time to meet with Judge Barbara Lagoa on Friday while he’s down in Miami, but
Lagoa remains on the list but multiple people familiar with the matter told CNN that Trump is fading on the idea of picking her. While Trump was initially enthused at the prospect of nominating a Cuban-American from Florida, a critical electoral battleground, Lagoa hasn’t been previously vetted for the Supreme Court and some advisers suggested it would be a heavy lift to clear a new name quickly.
And that’s the reason I used the CNN article, as it is one of the few who notes this. Barrett has been fully vetted previously, and it will be much easier for her to go through the process of question in the Senate, at least by Republicans, with Democrats using their time making speeches and accusations with nary a question to be seen.
Trump has said the end-of-week timing for the pick was meant to show respect for Ginsburg, who will lie in repose at the Supreme Court on Wednesday and Thursday before a private interment at Arlington National Cemetery next week.
But the President is also keen on extending the dramatics of his selection, likening it to his version of a running mate selection during an election year, according to one adviser.

Do not be surprised if Romney says he will vote for the nominee and then change his mind. He is the leader of the Never Trump movement. I would have little doubt that a substantial amount of his vast fortune acquired by destroying the lives of 10’s of thousands of people is finding its way to the Lincoln Foundation.
He does not want people to be investigated. Yet he totally ignores the death and destruction wrought by the Left on the Right in the last dozen years.

Romney is a democrat masquerading in GOP clothing because he knows he will never get elected in any BLUE STATE and should have never been elected in a red state. Just like Lisa Murkowski is sticking it too the GOP because she was defeated in her primary in Alaska by a tea party member then ran a write in challenge basically to defeat the GOP candidate but surprisingly she won. She has not stopped sticking it to the GOP every since. She is another Democrat with an axe to grind that could never be elected in a blue state.
Susan Collins, well she is just a rino. A decent person with a conscience from a blue state that is more white than any state in the nation. She must be a democrat or at least look like one to keep hold of power. It is this insatiable desire to hold power that drives all these people.
The left will put a massive amount of pressure on the GOP who will fold when people start calling them all racists, marching on their homes and calling them bad names. The GOP is full of spineless cowards who are playing full contact politics like it is touch football with the Lingerie league.
Do not be surprised if this nomination is not filled until after the election by Joe Biden, because we all know the left will cheat, a 4-4 tie in the Supreme court will send it back to all these blue states that said you can vote from now until 2088 or until Joe Biden wins.
Meanwhile America burns and the GOP is hiding in their holes, hording their offshore bank accounts and laughing at you and me as we can’t eat, can’t pay the bills and can’t open our businesses or even worship because the LEFT SAYS SO.
That is what a vote for the GOP means. More of the same spineless cowardice they have always shown in the face of anarchy and a sincere effort by the left to turn this country COMMUNIST.
Needless to say I am not a fan of the GOP at this moment as I watch this country burn and the GOP is SILENT with the notable exceptions of a few.
