Climate Anxiety Has Created A New Dating Trend: Thunberging

These people are totally serious, not crazy, and not part of a cult. So they say.

How climate change inspired a new dating trend: ‘Thunberging’

Climate change is having a pretty big effect on our lives right now.

From impacting our decisions about having a family (one in 10 young couples cited climate change as their reason for deciding against children), to our wardrobes and our wallets.

And now our dedication to protecting the environment is infiltrating the dating world by spawning a new trend – ‘Thunberging’.

According to OKCupid, who coined the term, ‘Thunberging’ is where daters bond over their shared passion for environmental issues.

Named after climate change activist Greta Thunberg, of course, Thunberging effectively refers to singletons connecting over their desire to make a difference environmentally. (snip)

“With climate change becoming a major talking point globally, we’re finding more and more people’s passion for the planet is becoming a steamy subject,” a spokesperson for OkCupid says.

“It’s no surprise to learn that young Gen Z and millennial daters care about climate change, but within the last year alone, these singletons are matching on the basis of this topic more than ever.”

The UK Guardian has created a whole dating profile in their article. Because it’s totally sane to name a dating phenomena after an underage girl who looks 12.

OK Cupid should charge anyone who is a climate cultist an extra fee for using their site, a climate dating tax. And require that any who go on a date pay a carbon offset fee, and prove that they didn’t travel in a fossil fueled vehicle and ate no meat. Anyhow, totally not a cult, right?

Teach hates that child something fierce !!
And now people are even getting to hook up easier because of her
Teach is there any dating sites specifically for vlimste change deniers ? Should there be one ?

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Young people dating based on common interests!! The horror.

  3. Looks like a real benefit for people to put that information in their profiles. Of course, most people will still lie about it, like everything else in their profile, to get the result they want. Same people can use it as a red flag for good enough to date but no long term value.

Unlike Thundberg, adults are expected to understand the differences between imaginary risks and real risks and weigh them appropriately. This falls into the same category of not being able to date anyone who thinks Star Trek:TNG is better than Deep Space 9.

It still all goes back to, what do these people do in real life to practice what they preach? If they are still using electricity, they aren’t really serious about climate change. If they are still keeping warm in the winter, they are not serious about being “carbon neutral”. If they really believe it is a crisis, and not just a philosophy discussion, they should act like it.

Commenter: If they are still using electricity, they aren’t really serious about climate change. If they are still keeping warm in the winter, they are not serious about being “carbon neutral”.

That’s nonsense. What if they have cut their use by 50%? 80%? What if they only rely on renewable sources?

Your insistence that the only valid effort is a 100% reduction is flawed logic amounting to propaganda.

Do you believe the US government spends to much? If you believe that, you should stop using roads, the courts, collecting Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid or unemployment payments, FDA approved drugs, airports. Until you eliminate ALL use of federal services you are not conservative.

      • I’m not the one insisting on ridiculous limitations on human productivity and comfort. You need to talk to your masters about how much freedom they want you to have.

You are either serious about climate change being a crisis and act accordingly, or you are not. Seems pretty simple to me. When the activists start behaving like it’s a crisis, I will have a reason to believe them. As they act now, I can tell that they (AND YOU) don’t even believe what you are saying.

When his bluff is called, Hypocrite Hare backtracks.

Fact is, the environuts want us all to party like it’s 1799. They will party like it’s 2099.

Nice try, but certain Federal services are mandated by the Constitution. Airports are not Federal (usually municipal and paid for by taxes), as are roads and courts.

And a lot of people are skeptical of what is and is not FDA approved.

Some people say their money went into Social Security and they’re entitled to get it back (I don’t buy that, but that’s a discussion for another day).

You, however, are not the arbiter of what’s Conservative, but, since you whine about the debt, what are you doing using roads, the courts, collecting Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid or unemployment payments, FDA approved drugs, airports?

And it’s too much. You really need to go on the wagon.

Oh, that’s right, clean water is a government service. You’ll have top drink out of the nearest stream.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          Typo Queen (or TEACHs Schoolmarm),

It’s “You’ll have TO drink out of the nearest stream,” not top. You really need to go on the wagon.

I’m not concerned about the debt, I just point out the hypocrisy of the right wingers who used to whine about the debt but suddenly find it “economic”. It’s OK to create massive debt to help millionaires and billionaires but a crime to help the mass of Americans. Got it.

          • formwiz says:

It’s “You’ll have TO drink out of the nearest stream,” not top.

Sure. To and too are so much alike.

Lie. Lots of people don’t like the debt, but your whining is your usual hypocritical “concern” for the “working classes”, which will suddenly disappear in about 40 years when the country elects another Democrat. Cut the Demos in Congress down to about 30% and see if the debt comes down.

It’s OK to create massive debt to help millionaires and billionaires but a crime to help the mass of Americans. Got it.

Sure. Like your “typo”. To and too are so similar.

That’s what the Ozarks and the Os did. Got that?

The Demos became the party of the 1% in those years. Got that?

You didn’t care about the debt when the Mocha Messiah was piling it up. Got that?

And now all you do is just blather the Demos’ talking point because they have nothing positive going. Got that?

The problem that Trump faces is that he is trying to correct the mistakes and intentional destructive acts of the worst president in our history, Obama. So all options are necessary to return is to a viable economy and country.

Sure. To and top are so much alike. Got that?

Lie. It’s a fact that conservatism is dead, and that nuCons no longer care about the debt. Reagan, Bush I, Bush II and now tRump increased the debt for no reason. Dick Cheney even said, “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter.” Got that?

Lie. Neither Clinton nor Obama cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires. Got that?

President Obama had a reason to increase the debt. We were in the middle of the Republican crash, remember? Spending on infrastructure, unemployment, R & D, Medicaid was needed to help Americans AND boost the economy. Payroll tax holidays put more money in working class pockets. Got that??

How did the DJIA do today? Are you praying with Mike Pence to keep Covid-19 away? Why aren’t the working classes making more money in the “best economy evah?” Why has “The FAT ORANGE RAPIST” lost his ability to speak English?

OK troll, time to crawl back under your bridge. Got that???

The problem with the climate religion is that only one, or two actions are acceptable to their believers. Those actions are a tax, global government of which communism is the only acceptable form of government and the economic destruction of the US and most Western economies. No other matter of lowering CO2 is of significance. Now, members of the religion have even said that these actions will not significantly lower CO2. But they must be put in place to save the world. Planting trees, which seems reasonable, is laughed at. In fact any CO2 capturing mechanism is immediately spurned. This hints at the fact that the religion is more about world politics than lowering the amount of a trace gas.

  5. david7134 says:

    Form,
When stupid people say things like Trump and the Repubs doing things to help the rich, just leave the stupid statement out there. Let the world see how utterly dumb those on the left are. You can’t argue with such stupid people.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

The GOPhers prime objective is to help the wealthy and corporations. To deny that is stupidly dumb. In fact, it’s davidesque. Look it up.

      • Kye says:

Exactly where would one go to look up something as stupid and irrational as “The GOPhers prime objective is to help the wealthy and corporations”? I mean on it’s face that statement speaks of some kind of speech by a nut case and reeks of stupidity on many levels. So I assume we could “look it up” in the “Book of Shit That Ain’t True” but the only copy is currently being use by the Sanders campaign and won’t be available until his suicide on 11/4/20. BTW, you do realize the entire gaggle of Democommies are rich, white, corporatists with a couple billionaire exploiters and millionaire Communists thrown in for shits and giggles.

Trump 2020 So we can “keep helping the wealthy and corporations”.

      • formwiz says:

        I have.

        You lie yet again.

Even if it were true, the Rs are doing a lousy job of it. The blue collars are doing better than any other economic group these days.

        Look that up.

      • Jl says:

As usual, J voices his assertions without any proof. Another shocker….

  6. formwiz says:

Sure. To and top are so much alike. Got that?

He’s seen the news SC Demos are panicking that Bernie will take the state tomorrow. And too and top sound nothing alike.

That and the fact he’s supposed to be so much smarter than us, but I catch him all the time. Got that?

Lie. It’s a fact that conservatism is dead, and that nuCons no longer care about the debt. Reagan, Bush I, Bush II and now tRump increased the debt for no reason. Dick Cheney even said, “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter.” Got that?

Then why do so many Conservatives want to see budget cuts? Bitching about the debt the Demos created and exacerbated shows the Demos are running on empty because, if the Rs do cut the budget, they’ll scream bloody murder. Got that?

Lie. Neither Clinton nor Obama cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires. Got that?

They cut taxes for nobody. Remember Willie saying, “Ah’d luv tuh give ye a tax cut, but Ah cain’t truss ye tuh spend it raht”? Get that one.

President Obama had a reason to increase the debt. We were in the middle of the Republican crash, remember? Spending on infrastructure, unemployment, R & D, Medicaid was needed to help Americans AND boost the economy. Payroll tax holidays put more money in working class pockets. Got that??

Try again. The subprime mess was the work of the Demos and Dubya tried to stop it several times. Two of the top three recipients of bank donations were the Hildabeast and Zippy. The “stimulus” went in the pockets of Demo politicians. All we ever saw were those stupid roundabouts. Got that?

The tax increases were to fund IdiotCare. Got that?

How did the DJIA do today? Are you praying with Mike Pence to keep Covid-19 away? Why aren’t the working classes making more money in the “best economy evah?” Why has “The FAT ORANGE RAPIST” lost his ability to speak English?

Down 300. A lot better than it started. Looks like the panic is over. Got that?

And you know the “working classes” are making more money. Got that?

You want me to put up the graphic showing it’s all been a manufactured panic by Fake News yet again? Get it.

OK troll, time to crawl back under your bridge. Got that???

Fornix you, queer. Every time you lie, I’ll be in your face with the truth. Got that?

Go run and hide. The news is going to be awful tomorrow.

  7. Jl says:

J-“are you praying for Mike Pence to keep Covid-19 away?” And what are Democrat solutions other than open borders?

    • formwiz says:

      Spend baskets of money.

The virus is a hoax. NEJM has deemed it equivalent of less to the flu. It is a virus, it can be severe but not usually. Most have subliminal cases. Deaths are in those already ill. It is the panic from the media driving this. I am going to be buying stocks like mad Monday. Same crap as climate change.
