People Who Take Lots Of Fossil Fueled Travel Will Challenge Trump On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

So, a couple thousand people, primarily CEO’s of companies that use lots of fossil fuels, lots of energy, make consumer products which are Bad for Hotcoldwetdry, will take long fossil fueled flights, and they want to lecture Trump? When most nations which made pledges for the Paris Climate agreement are failing to abide by their own pledges? Maybe these CEOs should practice what they preach, stay in their own lanes, and make their companies Paris compliant, rather than pushing their beliefs (or expressed beliefs that are false) on other people

Trump will be challenged on climate change at Davos, WEF president says

climate change joke

President Donald Trump will likely be questioned on his climate change beliefs when he visits Switzerland for the World Economic Forum on Tuesday next week.

That’s the opinion of WEF President Borge Brende who told CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick Wednesday that Trump appreciated candid conversation about any topic.

The Norwegian politician added he was “pretty sure” that when Trump was in Davos, surrounded by 2,000 world CEOs and environmental leaders that climate change and a loss of biodiversity would be on the agenda.

“On climate change, that will be a topic that will be raised with him I am sure when he is in Davos … We like frank conversations to move the world forward,” said Brende.

OK, let’s be frank: I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people who tell me it’s a crisis act like it’s a crisis in their own lives. And stop trying to tell Other People how to live their lives.

Many airlines are now offering to include carbon offsets in addition to the reg ticket price this usually adds only 1-2% to the ticket price
Flying usually has a smaller carbon footprint than ford a person traveling by car

  2. Jl says:

So John, if the plane still goes where’s the carbon reduction? There isn’t. But it’s a liberal’s dream- paying a tax to the government, anyway

  3. Chumpchange says:

    LOLOLOLOLOL @JOHN.

If a plane fires up its engines with 100 or 300 people on board. All paying hefty taxes to OFFSET their carbon footprint.

that airplane is still puffing out CO2.

The left are literally retarded. The AGW crowd even more than most. I know what they are thinking. Make stuff so expensive people will buy less of it. Not happening. Not in america, not around the world.

People have to live. What the left needs to do is get their billionaire buddies to start building Nuclear reactors and then force the leftist NEVADA to open up Yucca Mountain to deposit the spent fuel rods.

Then were talking about offsetting real carbon. Until then. the left AGW movement is full of snowflake sissies like Greta and John who believe in the tooth fairy and the easter bunny.

Remember, these same ‘experts’ told us in the 60’s that our oil reserves would be depleted in 10 years. In the 70’s they told us that there would be another ice age in 10 years. In the 80’s they were telling us the horrors of acid rain. In the 90’s it was the Ozone layer that would soon be gone. In the 2000’s the Arctic would be ice free in 10 years. Now they are telling us that climate change will spell doom for us in 10 years.

10 years from now it will be some other phenomenon that humans have little to no control over that will become a crisis and that we must do something to avert it. And the weak minded sheep will follow along just as they always have.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

The same ‘experts’ didn’t make all those claims.

Unfortunately for Earthlings, we keep finding new sources of fossil fuels! And burning fossil fuels converts carbon containing molecules into CO2.

The scientific community was not concerned about another ice age.

The horrors of acid rain were real, and were remedied by action, e.g., George H.W.’s amendments to the Clean Air Act and George W. Bush’s EPA Clean Air Interstate rule and a cap-and-trade system for SO2 and NOx, significantly reducing the emissions leading to acid rain.

The hole in the ozone is real, and was remedied by international action (1989 Montreal Protocol).

The Arctic continues to lose ice.

We’ve known for over 30 years that the Earth is warming from fossil fuel-linked greenhouse gases and we’re doing little. Even if we cut emissions to 0 today, the Earth would continue to warm but would eventually level. If we don’t make changes in the next 12 years, the warming will be unlikely to level. That’s the concern. Recall that CO2 has a long residence time in the atmosphere.

Are you old enough to recall the water and air quality, especially in cities, before conservative Republican Richard Nixon created the EPA?

        Oh, but it don’t.

And acid rain was 40 years ago, and disappeared from our lexicon when the Commies invented global silliness after the Berlin Wall fell.

Oh, but it don’t. It’s consumed in photosynthesis.

Unless you lived in LA, they were just fine.

Wrong. (Another ‘Is Not’icism from WizDumb)

Wrong. (Another ‘Is Not’icism from WizDumb)

Although CO2 IS taken up by plants for photosynthesis, curiously CO2 levels are not zero, in fact, CO2 levels are increasing rapidly. This is similar to the argument that CO2 is such a heavy gas that it pools along the ground.

          • formwiz says:

Right because 40 years ago they could talk about nothing else.

            Right because it’s been measured.

And there will always be some CO2 because, as everything exhales, it’s not yet been absorbed.

And the Angel of Doof lives down to his name.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

So your claim is that CO2 is in flux, being exhaled by animals (and plants) and being absorbed by green plants where it’s converted into complex carbohydrates, and CO2 is also absorbed by the oceans where it converts to carbonic acid, lowering sea pH. The steady state level in the atmosphere is somewhere between 200 and 400+ ppm over the past million years.

But for a million years CO2 has been between 200 and 280 ppm. Why has it shot up to over 400 ppm over the past century? Are animals exhaling more? Are plants and the oceans absorbing less? It’s been proven that more and more carbon from fossil fuels is accumulating in the air, the oceans and in green plants. Why is that, you think?

      • Jl says:

J keeps setting them up and we keep knocking them down. “Scientific community not concerned with another ice age.” Except that they were, which you know.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          J,

Pierre Gosselin lies to you. So no, there was no scientific consensus regarding a coming ice age.

          • formwiz says:

Of course not. Sensible people and sensible scientists (there were still a few) laughed at the notion.

          • Jl says:

Gosselin didn’t write the peer-reviewed papers, genius. The authors listed did. So yes there was, as there was an attempt to remove all mention of it from Wikipedia, as shown in the article. I must have missed that part when studying the scientific method in school…

That’s lots of fossil-fueled private jets flights.

    From CNN Business:

Davos VIPs are worried about the climate crisis. They’re still using private jets
By Julia Horowitz | CNN Business | Tuesday, January 14, 2020 | Updated 12:15 PM ET

London (CNN Business) — The World Economic Forum is preparing to perform a difficult dance: proclaim its growing concern for the climate crisis even as scores of private planes and luxury cars ferry attendees to its annual conference in Davos.

In an era of “flight shaming” and increased public awareness over climate change, the organizers of next week’s event are ratcheting up efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the conference, which draws politicians and CEOs to the Swiss Alps for panel discussions, closed-door meetings and parties. Greta Thunberg, the teenage climate activist known for calling out global leaders, is attending for a second year after she criticized guests at a star-studded luncheon in 2019.

WEF is touting promises to buy carbon credits offsetting flights, a redesigned conference center and a menu packed with locally-sourced food. The fleet of vehicles that will shuttle many dignitaries around the ski resort town is now 88% electric or hybrid.

It’s a mark of mounting pressure on the organization, which has long faced blowback for the environmental footprint of the summit. For some high-profile figures who plan to attend, such as BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, fighting climate change is now an urgent priority. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.”

Well, the hoitiest and the toitiest couldn’t miss this opportunity to take private jets to haul themselves and their valets and attendants and mistresses to a nice ski resort, all on company-paid trips, right?

Sacrifice is for the plebeians, not the patricians.

    Faked data, mostly.

And I thought you were the one who said science was based on consensus, not proof.

    You seem to be recanting.

Why is that, do you think?

    • david7134 says:

      Form,
Most agree that the recent temp rise has occurred before the rise in CO2. That being true, it means CO2 is not associated with warming. Concern for rising CO2 is this misplaced. Note that none of the people who are so concerned about the climate will do anything to lower CO2 such as planting trees. The only answer is taxes, economic destruction of only the West, and global government.

  8. Chumpchange says:

What they wont tell you is that a vast majority of warming is caused by URBAN SPRAWL.

Most of the weather guages are in big cities. But they got wise and moved many of them just outside of the big cities but still drastically affected by the massive heat plumes radiating from 20-65 million people living in a confined space.

Then they beat their chest that the earth is warming.

Yes it probably is. Climate is changing too because anyone with half a brain knows that when you got gigantic updrafts or downdrafts planes crash and the jet stream moves.

Unfortunately the deniers are losing this battle because the left has brainwashed the children. And those same children are worshipping whores in hollywood who are telling them that their life is over if they dont give all kinds of stuff up, while these same people eat caviar and jet set around the world in their own private jets.

So honestly I don’t care if they institute AGW programs as long as they do it intelligently. I personally don’t care where my electricity comes from or if my Truck runs on Propane, batteries or natural gas as long as it still does the job effectively.
