Excitable California Passes Bill Requiring Trump To Release His Tax Returns To Be On Ballot

Sure, sure, this is for all who are running for president (wink wink). It has nothing personally to do with Donald Trump (wink wink)

California Passes Measure Requiring Presidential Candidates To Release Tax Returns

The California Legislature has overwhelmingly passed a measure requiring all presidential and gubernatorial candidates to release their tax returns to get on the primary ballot, which could shake things up for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

The Presidential Tax Transparency & Accountability Act, SB 27, would require that the candidates release the previous five years of their returns. The bill passed 57-17 in the Assembly on Tuesday and 29-10 in the state Senate Thursday. It now awaits the signature of Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom to become law.

The measure includes an urgency clause, which would allow the legislation to take effect immediately, in time for the 2020 election, reports ABC-7 News. The measure only applies to the primary ballot because the state constitution allows political parties to nominate their own presidential candidates in the general election.

Wait, wait, we were told this was supposed to be a Big Deal. But, if it only counts for primary season, not the general election, this is meaningless, even if someone decides to run against Trump, because Trump will still be the GOP contender. It’s a little detail that most of the Useful Democratic Idiots will miss, thinking that this will block Trump from being on the 2020 ballot when it does no such thing. It’s a feel good measure.

Eighteen other states have legislation similar to California’s, but none has become law, according to a database tracked by the National Conference of State Legislatures. California, the most populous state, has more than 24 million eligible voters.

“Presidential candidates need to put their own interests aside in the name of transparency,” bill author, state Sen. Mike McGuire (D), said in a statement. “So far, our current president has done the opposite. It’s time that President Trump steps up, stops with the obstruction, and follows through with 40 years of time-honored tradition that has made this nation’s democracy stronger.”

McGuire is confident the law would withstand a legal challenge, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Here’s a question: why even challenge this in court, when it means nothing to Trump? Perhaps for future candidates who need to be on the primary ballot, but not Trump. It is very dubiously Constitutional, since, even though this would be a state level vote, the Federal Constitution lays out the qualifications to be President, and it doesn’t specify the difference between a primary or general election.

But, Democrats just can’t help themselves, and, at this point, Trump is surely refusing to show his taxes just to drive Democrats nuttier.

First, we should fight it because not fighting is what we’ve done for decades and look where it’s gotten us. Second, We should fight it because that’s how the left makes all it’s gains: by fighting every non-leftist proposal and policy. Learn from Alinsky! Third, we should fight it because the qualifications for president are laid out in the Constitution and even the Bolshevist state of California is, so far, not above that. Although the idea of “sanctuary” cities and states regarding immigration have everything in common with the sedition and nothing in common with federalism, immigration clearly being federal domain and not states rights.

Trump 2020 Make America Beautiful Again….take out the leftist trash!

Good one. tRump is hiding his tax returns because he has something to hide.

America will find there is only one outcome that will restore the nation.

Very Dr Goebbels. The quote is, “If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear”.

      Also a fallacy.

America will find there is only one outcome that will restore the nation.

Send the Lefties back with the illegals.

    • Kye says:

Hey Elwood, Trump is not “hiding his tax returns” he already turned them over to the ONLY legitimate authority on taxes who is required by law to see them: the IRS! They aren’t a secret nor are they hidden. They are just private, like yours are. Since you don’t want to show us your tax returns we must assume you “have something to hide”? Show us. Now! What are you hiding?

Trump 2020 Make Elwood show his tax returns!

A federal investigation into whether Trump Organization executives violated campaign-finance laws appears to be wrapping up without charges being filed.

Prosecutors now don’t appear poised to charge any Trump Organization executives in the probe that stemmed from the case against Cohen.

Poor Jeffery. He was so hoping.

They tried to bring him down with Russian Collusion. And failed.

They tried to bring him down with the Emoluments Clause. And failed.

They tried to bring him down with the Creepy Porn Lawyer. And failed.

They tried to bring him down with a coup. And failed (so far, coup still going on).

They tried to bring him down as a racist. And failed.

But watch, there’s even more fun to come.

Being president prevented Don Raper from being indicted. Strange but true!

The only coup is the slow-motion coup by the NuCon/GOPhers to steal our Republic.

Don Raper hopes to die in office.

Poor Ol’ Sibley. So insecure. That’s the problem with trumpublicans from the top down. Faux confidence to cover your insecurities. Frightened animals are dangerous animals. Trump will get his just desert and Americans will survive.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

          Max Ehrmann, 1948

NB – If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

If you think you can only be happy by being the best, smartest, funniest, richest you’ll turn out to be a bitter, mean-spirited old man.

If I run for office you can look at my tax returns. We have no income from emoluments or Russians and pay taxes consistent with our incomes.

Perhaps you’re not aware of the 40 year tradition of party nominees releasing years of tax returns (Republicans, e.g., Reagan (1 yr), Ford (0 yrs), Romney (2 yrs) and trump (0 yrs) haven’t been as forthcoming as Dems). But as we’re all aware, trump does not abide by American traditions.

trump’s tax returns would likely show something terribly embarrassing or criminal. You know it and I know it; you don’t care and I do.

Make sure your Mrs has her ID with her tomorrow – according to trump, his Federal Police will be busting down doors looking for foreign-looking people in a show-of-force kristallnacht.

        • Kye says:

If you run for office? That’s your dodge? Just be honest and tell the truth, you think your taxes are private. So do I. I also think Trump’s taxes are private regardless of tradition. Trump certainly abides by American traditions. Just last week when he and all us traditional Americans were celebrating Independence Day honoring our troops, first responders and our patriots your comrades were burning flags and shouting “No Trump, No Walls, No America at all”. That’s your “American tradition”, hating America.

BTW, here’s an American tradition you might think about when you are so sure Trump’s tax returns will”likely” show something “terribly embarrassing or criminal”: In America it’s traditional to follow the legal theory of “Innocent until proven guilty” which YOU owe Trump as least as much as a fukin’ ISIS terrorist. I know this: if Trump has broken any tax laws he’d be in prison because the IRS would have put him there. I also know that legal profits from one’s own business do not magically become “emoluments” just because you become president. Your entire argument is without proof, supposition and hate . That’s all you have.

BTW, as as typical ill-informed emotional radical leftist you fail to understand OUR federal law enforcement will not be “busting down doors” but will be looking for illegals who have already had their day in court and were ordered to leave. Believe it or not they have a list and June’s name is not on it SINCE SHE BECAME A CITIZEN LEGALLY!!

Trump 2020 86 all the illegal aliens!

That’s why he’s going to win in a landslide.

States don’t control their own primaries?

“If you win, you need not have to explain…If you lose, you should not be there to explain!”

“The winner will never be asked if he told the truth.”

“I do not see why man should not be just as cruel as nature.”

“Humanitarianism is the expression of stupidity and cowardice.”

“I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few.”

“Winning is the sole earthly judge of right and wrong.”

“Strength lies not in defense but in attack.”
