GOP Platform Is Most “Anti-LBGT” In History Or Something

The Republican party has long stood against gay marriage, and now they have added opposition to the gender confused in the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers of the opposite biological sex. This has caused a bit of a freakout

(WTVD) The country’s largest organization representing LGBT conservatives has slammed the GOP for its draft party platform, which remains opposed to same-sex marriage and bathroom choice for transgender people.

“There’s no way to sugar-coat this: I’m mad as h*** — and I know you are, too,” Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, wrote in a fundraising email sent Tuesday evening. “Moments ago, the Republican Party passed the most anti-LGBT Platform in the Party’s 162-year history.”

Angelo continued, “Opposition to marriage equality, nonsense about bathrooms, an endorsement of the debunked psychological practice of ‘pray the gay away’ – it’s all in there.”

What did Angelo think was going to happen? That the GOP would suddenly come out in favor of those things?

The GOP’s current draft platform — prepared in advanced of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, kicking off July 18 — defines marriage “as the union of one man and one woman” and calls for a reversal of the 2015 Supreme Court decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.

As it should. One thing they could have in there is the notion of governmentally recognized civil union, since this is America, founded on the notion, among others, that if it isn’t actually negatively affecting you, why do you care? If two people love each other, that love should be able to be formalized under the eyes of the law.

There is no “conversion therapy” within the bill.

Rachel Hoff, an openly gay defense lobbyist for a center-right policy center, was among the GOP platform committee members who gathered Monday to shape the party’s platform. She called for the GOP to take a neutral position on same-sex marriage.

Yes, let’s push the GOP over towards the Democratic side.

Citing Trump, the Log Cabin Republicans’ Angelo said, “This isn’t my GOP, and I know it’s not yours either. Heck, it’s not even Donald Trump’s! When given a chance to follow the lead of our presumptive presidential nominee and reach out to the LGBT community in the wake of the awful terrorist massacre in Orlando on the gay nightclub Pulse, the Platform Committee said NO.”

It’s been this way for a long time, explicitly ever since leftists started pushing their gay marriage agenda. And as far as transgenders go, well, Republicans are going to take a stand against opening up bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers to people who do not belong in there due to their actual biology, much less the fact that bad people will take advantage of those types of policies to do bad things.

Most “anti-LGBT” platform in history? Well, I s’pose so, given that, for most of the GOP’s history, homosexuality and transsexualism simply weren’t mentioned; everybody knew that those things were abnormal, and (almost) nobody thought that the platform had to say so.

If it were simply a situation where homosexuals were quietly shacked up, and not trying to push their agenda on others, almost nobody would care. Trouble is, since the “what people do in their own bedrooms is nobody else’s business” movement has transformed into “this is what I do in my bedroom and you had damned well better approve of it . . . and bake them wedding cakes,” yeah, people have pushed back. It was one thing for homosexuals to ask not to be bothered, and didn’t bother normal people; it is something else entirely to decide that you want to bother other people with it.

    • John says:

Actually the first thing they asked for was not to be arrested and imprisoned. At one time that was the risk that ran for being themselves
Dana are you old enough to remember when interracial marriage was illegal? I am. Social Conservatives fought that one to the end too
Mainstream America is leaving conservatives to live in their past, the ready of us are moving forward. Social Conservatives are dieing off/out they are mostly the old people
Dana you have a problem with sexuality of other people might I guess that this is increased if you see interracial same sex couples openly displaying affection to each other in public ?

  2. Jeffery says:

The GOPs descent into madness continues. Quite a mix of “stuff”.

    Build a wall.
    Transfer federal lands to states.
    Ban gay marriage.
Check birth certificates at public bathrooms.
    Stop gays from adopting.
Blocking the inclusion of the lesser prairie chicken and the sage-grouse on the endangered species list
Teaching the Bible as literature in public schools

    • John says:

Even a long form birth certificate will not be enough for bathroom entry
It will require a genital check to be preformed each and every time

  3. John says:

Abortion and lgbt issues are losers for the GOP
They are red meat to their extremist base but lose voters overall
2/3 of Americans want to keep abortion legal
The SCOTUS has already ruled in Gay marriage teach why does the GOP insist on fighting battles already lost?

  4. drowningpuppies says:

The GOPs descent into madness continues.

–that mad little guy who exaggerates often

Even Shotgun Joe Biden says they’re gonna put y’all you black people back in chainszzzza!’

  5. gitarcarver says:

It will require a genital check to be preformed each and every time

Because nothing bad could ever happen by allowing people of one gender into bathrooms or dressing areas of the other gender.

    Another liberal lie destroyed.

    • John says:

And yeah GOP Big Government now says that porn is a “health care crisis”
Of course the GOP is not anti sex

  6. Hoagie says:

Don’t get all riled up john. You can still sit in mom’s basement watching porn. The “GOP Big Government” wants to keep the porn away from kids john. Or do you like kiddy porn?

    • John says:

Hoagie I am as old as you so my own mother passed in 1985
However when she did I was fortunate to be able to be her out family’s primary caregiver to her as my sisters lived out of state
Funny the first type of porn that would pop into your head is child porn,
would you consider that type to be your own worst temptation ? Do you think you need the government to intervene ?

  7. Hoagie says:

You tell us all about how wonderful the democrats are to blacks.

Democrats fought to expand slavery while Republicans fought to end it.
Democrats passed those discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws.
Democrats supported and passed the Missouri Compromise to protect slavery.
Democrats supported and passed the Kansas Nebraska Act to expand slavery.
Democrats supported and backed the Dred Scott Decision.
Democrats opposed educating blacks and murdered our teachers.
    Democrats fought against anti-lynching laws.

Democrat Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, personally filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for 14 straight hours to keep it from passage.
Democrats passed the Repeal Act of 1894 that overturned civil right laws enacted by Republicans.
Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a “yellow dog” than vote for a Republican, because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.
Democrat President Woodrow Wilson, reintroduced segregation throughout the federal government immediately upon taking office in 1913.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first appointment to the Supreme Court was a life member of the Ku Klux Klan, Sen. Hugo Black, Democrat of Alabama.

Democrat President John F. Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI.
Democrat President Bill Clinton’s mentor was U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright, an Arkansas Democrat and a supporter of racial segregation.
Southern Democrats opposed desegregation and integration.

    Democrats opposed:

    The Emancipation Proclamation
    The 13th Amendment
    The 14th Amendment
    The 15th Amendment
    The Reconstruction Act of 1867
    The Civil Rights of 1866
    The Enforcement Act of 1870
    The Forced Act of 1871

The Civil Rights Act of 1875
    The Freeman Bureau
The Civil Rights Act of 1957
The Civil Rights Act of 1960
The United State Civil Rights Commission

With friends like democrats the black man needs no enemies. Even today thanks to democrat welfare and family policies the blacks have a new plantation: the democrat controlled inner city ghetto. Democrats still won’t allow blacks school choice vouchers. And they pepper the black neighborhoods with Planned Parenthood clinics to encourage Margaret Sangers dream of eugenics as they mass murder black babies.

democrats of today are little more than slaveholders and fascists. They disgust me.

    • John says:

Thank you for that rather complete list
Any reason why it stopped in 1960?
Historically both parties had racist and conservative wings
However especially beginning in 1964 liberals and moderates have been squeezed out of the GOP as have racists and conservatives from the Dems
So for the last 50 years the GOP the party of Lincoln has been seen by Black Americans as anti Black
That is a fact as is the fact that Blacks vote overwhelmingly for Dems

  8. John Glanton says:

    Jihadis love porn

“We looked a ruthless enemy in the eye — women and children, girls and boys, raped and exploited, the beheadings stored on a laptop next to pornography,” writes Flynn in The Field of Fight: How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies.

The book, which was released on Tuesday, is being serialized by the German newspaper Bild. “At one point,” writes Flynn, “we actually had determined that the material on the laptops was up to 80 per cent pornography.”

    http://www.clarionproject.org/news/islamic-state-laptops-contain-80-porn%E2%80%99

    • John says:

      Not surprised by that
Let’s remember that jihadis are right wing and hold many positions similar to right wing Christians
Anti abortion, small government ( can’t get much smaller than a caliph) anti women anti gay, anti sex, and perhaps strangest of all! The fact that when the end times are here Jesus himself will appear and lead them on to victory
      Weird huh????
It’s a thin line between love and hate in religions not all that much difference in a lot of their religious beliefs
One gets paradise with virgins another gets wings to fly with

  9. Hoagie says:

However when she did I was fortunate to be able to be her out family’s primary caregiver to her as my sisters lived out of state

Sorry to hear that, my condolences. She was young, John. Mine passed in 1999 @ 81. Being a caregiver is a tough road. My hat’s off to ya. You’re a good son.

  10. gitarcarver says:

And yeah GOP Big Government now says that porn is a “health care crisis”

That would be inline with the AMA and many psychologists. Addiction to porn is a heath care issue.

Yet you really didn’t address the issue that a “transgendered” individual used “gender identity to get into a woman’s changing room and take pictures of women – something that you said would never happen.

Of course the GOP is not anti sex

Not that I am aware of.

Of course, your comment is just because you aren’t mature enough to admit you and others were wrong on the transgendered issue. You don’t want to address what happened and instead try to move off the subject that you were wrong.

    • John says:

Actually Target doesn’t have changing rooms for men and women there is one area with small individual rooms that everyone shares This has been Target’s policy for 10 years
Carver whatever media you used to obtain your info, well, you got hosed again
They deliberately misled you into thinking that this TG person had gotten into the room set aside exclusively for females. If that deception happened to me I would not consider them to be a trusted source
You got tricked again!!! Played for a fool

  11. Hoagie says:

Let’s remember that jihadis are right wing and hold many positions similar to right wing Christians

What on earth makes fascist jihadis “right wing”? What makes you believe Christians are “right wing”? Define right wing for me, John.

    Anti abortion,

All religions and people of conscience are against abortion. Only non religious political fascists are pro-baby killing.

    small government

So now believeing in small government federalism is right wing”? George Washington will be surprised.

( can’t get much smaller than a caliph)

A caliph can be the head of a club, or the head of a country. Size does not matter.

    anti women

How are Christians anti woman? Don’t women enjoy more freedom, security and opportunity in Christian countries?

    anti gay,

Christians are not anti gay and to say so is a blatant lie and you know it. Christians are anti sin and they are against the homosexual lifestyle not the person.

    anti sex,

If Christians were anti sex there wouldn’t be any Christians, John. You really need to re-think some of your beliefs as they are patently false. Christians have sex all the time.

and perhaps strangest of all! The fact that when the end times are here Jesus himself will appear and lead them on to victory
    Weird huh????

To you that is weird, to a person who believes in God it’s not. Do you always mock other peoples beliefs? Again, if you are my age then you should act it.

It’s a thin line between love and hate in religions not all that much difference in a lot of their religious beliefs

John, if there wasn’t that much difference between religions then the Christians would be killing people all over the world in a jihad. The fact you are allowed to be alive because you are lucky enough to be in a Christian country not a moslem country should encourage you to be grateful. An athist like youwould be the first to go. • John says:

No Hoagie the Jews are not against abortionist is legal and usually free under Israel’s socialist public health care
Can’t recall Jesus ever saying that a fetus had a soul, the Jews still believe that the soul enters the body with the first breath taken outside of the mother
Buddhists have their own personal beliefs, there are no instructions from the Enlightened One on that matter
You forget that unlike you I lived in Muslim countries for a total of 12 months
About 1/2 in Afghanistan in 76-77 and the rest in the southern Phillipines which is majority Muslim , Borneo, and Malaysia in 1969
      I was always well treated
In Afghanistan people in villages always fed both myself and my horse for free
Well Christians seem to actually kill more often than Muslims
About 5 million in 20 years in the various Congo wars
      Muslims can’t touch that total
And of course all over Sub Saharan Africa thousands of “witches” are killed each year

  12. Hoagie says:

That picture is the beheading of Christians by moslems. These are the very people your hero Obama and your democrat party want to bring into our country and locate in our neighborhoods. Tell me all about how bad we Christians are. Grow up John. You’re an old hippie and you need to see things as they are.

    • John says:

In Africa witches are most often burned to death
There are many many videos available to back that up
      Just use google

  13. Jeffery says:

Another example of conservative tolerance, not to mention disobeying the law.

    http://www.rawstory.com/2016/07/kentucky-judge-refuses-to-marry-atheist-couple-because-they-dont-mention-god-in-their-vows/

    Hoagie,

Very few Muslims behead Christians, don’t you agree? Why are you so afraid?

  14. drowningpuppies says:

    Another example of conservative tolerance

Yeah, go fuck yourself, little guy.

  15. Jeffery says:

Just part of the fundamentalist christianists plan for their christian caliphate.

  16. gitarcarver says:

Actually Target doesn’t have changing rooms for men and women there is one area with small individual rooms that everyone shares This has been Target’s policy for 10 years

    Does Target know this?

Here is their policy and statement on the transgendered issue:

In our stores, we demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive experience in many ways. Most relevant for the conversations currently underway, we welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.

If that deception happened to me I would not consider them to be a trusted source

You’re right john, I have a tendency not to trust liars which is why I don’t trust you. (Have you found the Starbucks yet?)

Even when you try to sound like you know what you are talking about, you end up exposing your ignorance.

But let’s assume that you are right – that there were uni-sex changing rooms. Is it your position that what you and other liberals claimed would never happen did not happen here? Is it your position that a self identifying transgendered male took pictures of a woman in a very private moment?

Not only are you wrong on the facts, but you were wrong when you said this type of thing would never happen.

  17. gitarcarver says:

Actually Jeffery, weddings are performed at the discretion of judges. It is not a service they are required to offer. It is not something that the law requires they do.

Your statement that the judge “disobeyed the law” is, as usual, wrong.

  18. Jeffery says:

I also don’t trust liars, which is why I never believe the gitarman.

  19. Jeffery says:

So the judge in the article doesn’t perform weddings?
