Thank Goodness, We Now Have “Jason Bourne’s” Ideas On Gun Control

Alternate headline: guy who uses guns quite a bit in his movies calls for gun confiscation”

(The Blaze) Action movie actor Matt Damon spent his Fourth of July weekend in Australia, where he spoke to local media about the latest “Jason Bourne” film, as well as his views on gun control.

The “Bourne” franchise star expressed his desire that the United States would conduct a massive confiscation of firearms akin to the 1996 gun grab carried out by the Australian government.

“You guys did it here in one fell swoop, and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly,” Damon said during a promotional engagement in Sydney.

Well, obviously, talking sensibly requires confiscation of all privately owned guns. This is very much the Hollywood liberal view, and the view of liberals generally. If they really cared, they’d stop using guns in movies. As Stephen Kruiser notes

As we proceed in this election year, expect the American leftists to become less coy about their intentions, especially now that their Queen is getting a pass from the FBI on her email “confusion.”

Their “wink-wink, nudge-nudge” approach to gun laws thus far has featured repeated proclamations that they really are coming for our guns. They just want “sensible” gun reform, right?

They’re starting to get bolder. Consider this letter to The Tribune (a California paper)

In order to bring under control this insupportable rash of gun violence here in the U.S., the federal government should inaugurate the following three measures:

â–ª First, make it unlawful to own or operate a military, multishot-style weapon.

▪ Next, stop the manufacturing of these weapons except for the military — use rifles for target practice or hunting. Some handguns would be acceptable in accordance with current gun safety measures.

▪ Finally, improve the system that tracks students from the time they enter school until they graduate at the end of 12 or 14 years. This will help keep track of students’ emotional status, as well as their educational progress.

I’m not quite sure what the meaning of that last one is in regards to guns, but, hey, OK, more governmental tracking of our lives. Notice the switch, which is stating that virtually all guns should be banned, including handguns, if they can fire more than 1 shot. Does the writer think that all weapons are automatic? Those are already illegal. Or, is he thinking that guns should only be allowed to fire one shot before reloading? Regardless, this is a typical leftist call for gun confiscation and banning.

How well is all this banning and rules and regs working?

Chicago, Illnois (dubbed Chiraq by Spike Lee) has some of the strictest gun control laws in America. They have an updated “assault weapons” ban, and they even tried passing a complete ban on handguns. They’ve done everything they can to attack the Second Amendment rights of city residents. (I call it Mogadishu on Lake Michigan)

And yet 64 people were shot over the Independence Day weekend, including three children. Four people shot, were killed. Chicago police chief Eddie Johnson says “progress” is being made, yet 64 is the exact same number of people shot over Memorial Day weekend, with six killed.

And what happens when Leftists call for gun control?

(The Libertarian Republic) FBI background checks (a prerequisite for most gun purchases in the US) surged in June to an all-time high for the early summer. The Bureau reports that over 2.1 million checks were performed on people seeking to purchase guns last month; up from 1.5 million from the same time in 2015. This month’s record is the latest in a long line of monthly record breaking sales stretching back 14 months to May of 2015. At it’s current pace, 2016 will achieve the highest estimated number of guns sold in America, annually, since the tracking system was first put into place in 1998.

These record breaking sales come in the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack and the subsequent efforts by Democrats in Congress to push for additional gun control legislation. This is not a new phenomenon. In early 2016,The New York Times asked the question, “What happens after calls for new gun restrictions?” and found the answer to be: “Sales go up.” The following chart demonstrates how such events have caused large spikes in the volume of background checks and gun sales in the immediate aftermath.

Democrats make great gun sales people.

Let us assume, for the moment, that the esteemed Mr Damon gets his way, and we do have a massive government confiscation of privately owned firearms. Not only would it violate the Second Amendment, but since only law-abiding people would actually turn in their weapons, the only way to disarm the criminals would be to send in the FBI and ATF into every residence and building in America to search for the weapons that the criminals would keep. Would the government be able to show probable cause and obtain a warrant for every address in the United States? Of course not, so the gun confiscation program would also violate the Fourth Amendment protection from unreasonable searches and seizures as well.

Excuse me, Professor Damon-what is your proposed method of confiscating guns from ISIS crazies and gang-bangers, just to name two? You really think they’ll just walk up and turn their guns over to the authorities?

  3. John says:

    So Teach
Do you think they need more guns or fewer guns?
What do you think should be done?or is this just the price we pay for the 2nd?

  4. Hoagie says:

I’ll tell you what I think , John. When you Nazi’s start confiscating guns as good little Nazi’s always do you’ll soon find yourselves on the business end since this is America, not Europe.

But tell us John, how, from whom and why did your apparent hero Adolf confiscate guns from his people? Do you believe your little Adolph’s could do it here? And since you’re so interested in saving lives almost a million Americans die each year from abortion. What are your plans to stop this mass murder?

–so the retard asks what others should do…
Just what price have you paid retard?

  6. Hoagie says:

Since most murders are low end criminals, gang members and drug dealers, what can be done? They already break the law so what new law do you expect them to obey?

    They’re being extremely careless…

    So what’s the big deal?

  8. Hoagie says:

There is something many Americans are doing, they’re buying some new guns and building up their supply of ammo. Oddly, the preferred weapon seems to be the AR-15 semi-auto carbine. You know, the type ignorant leftists like Pajama Boy and Cher call “assault weapons”. Like any government would send its army out to assault with semi-auto weapons.

I quit on his movies long ago, he is a has been trying to get publicity.

It cost Australia $500,000,000 to buy back approx. 1,000,000 guns. All paid for by a ‘special’ tax.

Multiply that by 300 to do the same in the US. And this isn’t adjusted for inflation. Tell us again how good of an idea this is.
