Bummer: Hotcoldwetdry Rewriting The Face Of UK Wildlife

Climate change ‘re-writing’ face of UK wildlife, study warns

Britain’s wildlife calendar is and will continue to be rewritten by climate change – something which could result in disruptive consequences for both plants and animals – a new study is warning.

Researchers from the UK’s Centre for Ecology & Hydrology have discovered that seasonal events -such as the timing of flowering in plants and breeding in birds – are generally more sensitive to temperature change, than to changes in rain and snowfall. (snip)

In turn, this could have consequences for the country’s renowned biodiversity, as the breeding success and survival of such species are affected.

Well, obviously, the UK has been exactly the same for millions and billions of years, that is until the Industrial Revolution, fossil fuels, air conditioning, refrigeration, smartphones, and modern society.

Dr Thackeray went on: “Our findings highlight the importance of managing ecosystems within a ‘safe operating space’ with respect to the likely impacts of projected climate change.”

In other words, give us money and tax the citizens to death while we try and micromanage the environment, and, surely nothing could possibly go wrong with that!

Meanwhile, up to 60% of penguins in the Antarctic could might possibly maybe perish by 2100

Climate change is affecting Antarctica’s penguin population, which is reducing rapidly, especially in regions where the impact of global warming is felt the most. The population is expected to plummet by 60 percent at the end of this century.

The main reason for their plummeting population is the warming of sea water. Even though the penguins cannot survive extremely cold temperatures, the warmer places too cannot let them live, explain experts, relying on global climate model projections and satellite data for their study.

About 30 percent of Adélie colonies in Antarctica may be wiped out by 2060, and 60 percent by 2099.

Uh huh. Thanks for the prognostication, Chicken Littles.
