Hoory! Bill Nye Explains Hotcoldwetdry With Emojis

An unbelievably stupid and dumbed down method of explanation for people who are thoughtless and mental sheep

(The Verge) It seems like the longer that certain elements of society deny the existence of climate change, the more scientists have to use ever-simpler arguments to get their point across. A decade ago we were looking at detailed studies and charts to prove the Earth is getting warmer, and now we’re here: Bill Nye breaking things down with emoji.

Sure, it’s not the most nuanced explainer we’ve seen, but it gets the basics across. There’s way more of us on the planet than there used to be and we’re producing much more carbon dioxide as a result. This warms up the planet, and to mitigate the effects of this warming we need new technologies, like renewable energy sources and new ways of storing electricity in networks of batteries.

I wonder how much electricity was used to produce this video, along with all those watching it?

Of course, this is simply preaching to the choir. It’s not going to influence those who haven’t joined the Cult of Climastrology, who think for themselves.

He probably has opted to source his grid power from renewables

  2. Liam Thomas says:

What I find amazingly redundant is how we have to keep revisiting the Pliocene Epoch because it had co2 of 415ppm just like today.

Miocene Epoch. 23 million years ago to the start of the Pliocene Epoch some 5 million years ago.

The Miocene was considerably warmer then the Pliocene and in fact the planet actually cooled during the Pliocene from the typical temperatures of the Miocene.

The Continents of today are eerily similar to what they were during the Miocene Epoch which saw the formation of the Andes mountains in the south.

As the Earth Continued to cool the continents continued to shift until they were basically squished together for the Pliocene epoch. The Pliocene Epoch which the AGW truthers like to point to as the de facto…..smoking gun….was considerably cooler then the Miocene Epoch and actually continued to cool as the continents continued to drift….eventually finding themselves aligned very similar to what they were at the beginning of the Miocene and where the are today.

During the Pliocene the Rockies were formed and so were the Appalacians and the Swiss Alps and the Cascades.

It is uncertain what caused this climate cooling during the Pliocene. Changes in the amount of heat transported by oceans has been suggested as one possible explanation; higher concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may also have contributed. It is also possible that the raising of the Himalayas, caused by plate collisions between India and Asia, accelerated the cooling process.

A permanent El Niño state existed in the early-mid Pliocene. Warmer temperature in the eastern equatorial pacific increased water vapor greenhouse effect and reduced the area covered by highly reflective stratus clouds thus decreasing the albedo of the planet.

This massive amounts of water vapor in the air created the greenhouse effect. With the closing of the tectonic plates the permanent El Nino Collapsed. Causeing an abrupt cooling trend which led to the last ice age.

In short the miocene and pliocene epochs were a time of great tectonic shifting and continental drifting which greatly affected weather patterns. A permanent El Nino greatly increased water vapor in the air creating even more greenhouse gases warming the planet.

It was not until the continents had shifted, the permanent El Nino Collapsed and the shift of the warm currents farther south in the north and farther north in the south along with vast amounts of north and south pole humidity did the onset of the last Ice age begin.

In short……it had almost nothing to do with CO2 of 415 PPM that caused any of this…..but you will hear over and over again that the Pliocene is a mirror of what we have to look forward to.

Unfortunately its not….not until the continents continue to drift bringing again a permanent El Nino in the Pacific.

Liam do you think that 2015 will be the hottest in the last 100+ years?

  4. Jeffery says:

Disclaimer: Liam receives a great deal of money from the fossil fuels industry.

    Liam,

That’s all well and good, and down right sciency, but why has the Earth warmed so rapidly this past century?

Do you have a better explanation than greenhouse gases?

  5. Liam Thomas says:

    Liam,

That’s all well and good, and down right sciency, but why has the Earth warmed so rapidly this past century?

Do you have a better explanation than greenhouse gases?

Thats all you got son? That’s the best you can throw at me?

Hard to argue with the truth isnt it. In fact I would surmise you never even thought the continents were not always in the same place….or that for millions of years a permanent El Nino Existed heating the planet to sauna like conditions.

One thing about Astro-turfers…they have great one liners….his one liner now is to simply discredit me.

    Well heres one for you……..

Besides the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, this has been lighting up social media.

  7. Jeffery says:

    Liam,

    Why is the Earth warming?

  8. Jeffery says:

    Liam,

In my line of work, anything we publish we have to sign a disclaimer regarding conflicts of interest. For example, I work for a private company that will benefit financially from positive data.

If I would gain financially from renewable energy, e.g., if I worked or was a major investor in solar energy, that fact might cloud my thinking on global warming.

You’ve boasted about how much money you make from fossil fuels. Does that affect your thinking? You’re the equivalent of a lobbyist for coal, oil and gas. Why should anyone trust what you say?

It’s hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on him not understanding – Upton Sinclair

Just as bad, if not worse, in typical Denier fashion, you, who make money from the fossil fuels industry, falsely accuse me of being paid to comment!! And you accuse ME of Alynskiesque tactics!! LOL

    It’s always projection.

  9. drowningpuppies says:

That’s all well and good, and down right sciency, but why has the Earth warmed so rapidly this past century?

Perhaps little jeffy could define rapidly warming and then tell us by how much.

  10. Liam Thomas says:

    Disclaimer…..Jeffery hates women and children.

For someone who has this all important job he spends inordinate amounts of time on this website refuting EVERY post made by anyone.

    Can you spell

    A S T R O T U R F E R?

  11. Jeffery says:

    Saul,

There are always SO MANY lies to refute on a conservablog.

How often are you going to change the subject?

    Can you spell

    L O B B Y I S T?

    or

    P R O J E C T I O N?

    or

    D E F L E C T I O N?

little puppy: In this context rapidly means faster than typically seen. For example, the current rapid warming period is warming about 10 times faster than the end of the latest glacial period.

Are you seriously asking how much it has warmed in the last century? It would be a good exercise for you to look it up.

Now, are these the questions you really wanted answered? “Rapidly” and “How much”? Please tell me that you have something more, lil puppy. This Earth is on trial for its life.

  12. Jeffery says:

And Liam, the old “you spend too much time here” gambit is usually the beginning of the end for guys like you.

You started with a phantasmagoric model of global warming, got criticized, whined about being abused, then jumped to Alinskyesque and projection tactics. “He’s paid by Obama to stalk and insult me!” LOL And it turns out that YOU are compensated by the fossil fuels industry!

  13. drowningpuppies says:

    Knew you would deflect.
    Little jeffy never disappoints.

  14. Jeffery says:

And in contrast, lil puppy ALWAYS disappoints!

  15. Liam Thomas says:

And Liam, the old “you spend too much time here” gambit is usually the beginning of the end for guys like you.

So your all in on running me off because you think your disproving what I say? Its precisely what Astroturfers are paid to do.

Congrats on verifying your bonafides……like I said for someone who supposedly runs his own business you spend an inordinate amount of time here ridiculing literally every post and every poster……

Its obvious your business is ASTROTURFING.

  16. Jeffery says:

    Saul,

You flatter yourself. It doesn’t take much effort to refute your pseudo-scientific hypotheses.

And to be honest, only 2 or 3 lines from any of your exhausting comments is all I ever read.

Since you refuse to discuss substance, tell me, are you an American citizen?

  17. gitarcarver says:

And to be honest, only 2 or 3 lines from any of your exhausting comments is all I ever read.

Well, this confirms what we all suspected.

You aren’t interested in any debate or discussion.

Any evidence contrary to what you believe is just ignored by you.

  18. Liam Thomas says:

And to be honest, only 2 or 3 lines from any of your exhausting comments is all I ever read.

    A S T R O T U R F E R…..hes proven hes nothing but a troll.

You aren’t interested in any debate or discussion.

Exactly. The Obama Administration learned how important the internet is in reaching and discrediting the E N E M Y. They embarked upon what has now come to be called the Astroturfer campaign of infilitrating nearly every website of any consequence with paid operatives OR trained volunteers to simply use Saul Alinsky rules for radicals to humiliate, anger, discredit and other wise attempt to draw out anger and make conservative bloggers and commenters look like Angry rednecks who want to do X, Y and Z.

Jeffery and John are two such Astroturfers and rather they are actually paid, volunteers or have taken upon themselves the desire to Astroturf only they can answer that…..but never the less their sole intent is not to have any substantive debate about anything but rather to simply ridicule any ideas put forth by the right and draw out anger…..

John is not good at it at all thats why hes most likely just a troll……Jeffery on the other hand would fit the category of trained volunteer or paid operative…..

And for someone curing cancer and running his own business he spends a 100 hours a week on this website and most likely several others…in fact they usually jump from site to site nailing every comment with Alinsky tactics…..so I can only surmise that his business is ASTRO TURFING.
