It has been a bad week for Democrats, particularly Wednesday. Perhaps we could make an exception and let them have a beer?
First, Ahmadinejad was denied access to Ground Zero. Seething that Bush stopped that nice, well dressed man. I’m not kidding.
Next, the Webb Amendment, which was a backdoor attempt to make sure troops rotating out would not be able to go back to Iraq for a long time, failed 56-44 on cloture. Weak Republicans: Collins, Coleman, Hagel, Smith, Snow, Sununu. Not one Dem crossed the aisle.
The Habeas Corpus vote, otherwise known as "let’s give terrorists captured on the battlefields fighting with no uniform and for the same group responsible for 9/11 American Rights Act", failed 56-43. Weak willed Republicans voting yea: Lugar, Smith, Hagel (no surprise there!,) Spector, Snow, Sununu. Not one Dem had the balls to vote against it. Firegdoglake has been whining about this issue for a week.
Defeatocrats are giving up on forcing a cut and run, and want to attempt to shift blame for Iraq to Republicans. Dems want no part of any good news from Iraq.
Unable to attract enough war-weary Republicans, Senate Democrats are abandoning calls for a full withdrawal of US troops from Iraq as the chamber resumes debating the war this week.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Democrats will push for a deadline of June 2008 and make a "stronger effort" to cut off war funding rather than calling for an immediate withdrawal to begin, according to an article in Wednesday’s Washington Post.
Latest poll has Congress with a 65% disapproval rating.
The colors in Dickie Durbin’s Dream started running
Sen. Richard J. Durbin, trying to win support to pass his proposal to give legal status to illegal aliens who go to college or join the military, said yesterday he has dropped from his plan a mandate for in-state tuition rates and is promising to impose an age limit to cut the number of people who would be eligible.
Kerry looked on while a moonbat got tasered, and even the Liberal blogs destroyed him.
Shillary, Osama Obama, and My Little Silk Pony are making campaign promises tax reversals cannot afford, according to the OMB.
And they are still getting smacked around vis a vis the MorOn.org betray us add.
And it is only Thursday!
That said, it would be nice if the Republican leaders would get off their asses and take advantage for a change.
More: Captain Ed has more of the Demorats bad week, in the form of a vote condemning the MorOn.org Betray Us add. So, 25 Democrats refused to cave in to those hated neocon warmongerers, thereby insulting a 4 Star United States General serving in a war zone, and showing exactly the kind of liberals we all expect them to be. Defeatocrat Party Presidential contenders Clinton and, I supposed you could put him in there, Dodd, voted to smear Petraeus, someone they would have to lead if elected.
Do you have an interesting post? Well, go ahead and leave a trackback, with a reciprical link back to me. Otherwise, I might have that "leave Brtiney alone" looney come to your door step.
