Via News 14 Raleigh:
Investigators said a woman smashed her car into a Garner beauty salon Thursday.
Police said she told them she thought her car was in reverse when she ran into a large pillar outside the Beauty Essence Salon.
No one was seriously hurt.
The salon remained open, though customers had to enter through the back door.
The driver was in her 70’s, and the police have declined charges. I don’t mention "in her 70’s" to make fun of her age, rather, that she has had plenty of practice shifting gears. 🙂

Have you seen that South Park episode Grey Dawn? As I recall, it parodies the wonderful Red Dawn by imaging the AARP conducts a paramilitary operation to take over the town once the town tries to revoke seniors’ licenses because they drive insane.
The kids defeat the AARP by closing the Country Kitchen Buffet. The seniors are no longer able to feed themselves, and, weak with hunger, they surrender.
Of course, I could be confusing two separate episodes.
Anyway, what was my point? Oh yeah – I continue to maintain that the elderly are much more dangerous drivers than teenagers. Yet they can hold onto their licenses for just about forever.
