“Rovegate:” Is the Law So Difficult to Understand?

The democrats are going wonky in their own way over Karl Rove, probably because he spells his name with a "K," and dems reserve the right to spell Amerika that way. "Oh, I get it, spelling America with a ‘K’, are we?" (The Tick) But, how difficult is it for them and the press, you know, those bastions of journalistic integrity and Truth (with a capital T, of course), to understand the law involved? Apparently, pretty difficult. Exluding Right of Center sources, it seems all the press, along with such old time favorites as Nancy Pelosi and Kosbat.

Once again, the AP has miscommunicated the law:

Federal law prohibits government officials from divulging the identity of an undercover intelligence officer. But in order to bring charges, prosecutors must prove the official knew the officer was covert and nonetheless knowingly divulged his or her identity.

Once again they forgot the part about the agent having had to serve in an undercover role in a foreign country within the last 5 years, as well as being necessary that the CIA was actively attempting to maintain the agents cover. Plame hadn’t been in the field for 9 years. She worked at the main CIA building. Is it really this difficult to understand? Or is it just another case of the media and the left willfully ignoring reality? Just makes them look sillier and lose more credibility.

I agree with you. The law is clear. Even the most obtuse leftist idiot has to be able to understand it. It’s another case of the media and the left throwing mud and waiting to see if it will stick. They didn’t count on Bush sticking by Rove long enough for the whole story to totally fall apart.

  2. KKKarl and Plame Again

Okay, I was not completely aware of the law that Splodeydopes were saying that KKKarl broke.

Willful spreading of lies by the media. It’s completely intentional.
