Terrorist Attacks in London

I’m sure everyone has heard about and will blog about the attacks in London. Very surreal.

Three explosions rocked the London subway and one tore open a packed double-decker bus during the morning rush hour Thursday. The blasts killed at least two people and reportedly injured more than 90 in what a shaken Prime Minister Tony Blair called a series of "barbaric" terrorist attacks.

Blair said it was clear the attacks were designed to coincide with the opening of the G-8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland. The prime minister said the meeting of world leaders would continue but that he would return to London.

"Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilized nations throughout the world," said Blair.

A group calling itself "The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe" posted a claim of responsibility for the blasts, saying they were in retaliation for Britain’s involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Web statement, republished on the site of the German magazine Der Spiegel, could not be immediately confirmed.

I’m sure the resident Moonbats will blame this somehow on President Bush, as well as avoiding the mention of Afghanistan, and the fact that the Muslim extremists basically want to kill non-muslims. Or will they get it? We’ll see by the end of the day.

Update: the talking heads have been discussing how important London is to England, and how, if you shut down the transit system, you basically shut down England. The tubes (subway system) will reportedly be shut down for the rest of the day.

More: President Bush made a good point in his comments. These world leaders are at the G8 to discuss ways to end hunger and aids, to look for ways to save the environment, etc. The terrorists are there to kill innocent people.
