Global Warming Today: Germany Says “Do As I Say, Not As I Do”

In what seems to be a typical action from leaders in the climahysteric movement, Germany wants to increase its CO2 output, while screwing everyone else (Spiegel Online)

German Finance Minister Michael Glos wants the European Union to allow Germany to emit more greenhouse gases in exchange for decommissioning its nuclear power plants.

Glos, a member of the conservative Christian Social Union, outlined his argument in a letter to Germany Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who belongs to the center-left Social Democratic Party. In the letter, which was obtained by the German business daily Handelsblatt, Glos urges Gabriel to press the issue before the European Commission.

“Allowances for added emissions as a result of the nuclear phaseout need to be factored into the EU’s broader Emissions Trading Scheme,” writes Glos, according to Handelsblatt. (snip)

The Handelsblatt reports that replacing energy generated by nuclear plants with power from dirtier sources, like the coal-fired plants that produce 80 percent of power in Germany, could raise emissions by 150 million tons of carbon dioxide a year.

I know many will focus on the “conservative Christian” phrase, claiming it is some fundie neocon plot, but, getting beyond that silliness, it seems that the Germans would prefer to increase what they, along with the other climahysterics, say is going to kill us all, CO2, while doing away with one of our best and cleanest power sources, nuclear.

Captain Ed

Let me get this straight. Germany wants the US locked into the strict Kyoto controls as a means to depress our energy production move us to alternative energy sources. Now they admit that even twelve years from now, there won’t be any mass-production energy source that can replace even 20% of the current production they have now. Instead of recognizing the futility of Kyoto, Germany wants to pump out more pollutants instead.

Yup, pretty much. It is all “do as I say, not as I do” in the climahysteric movement.

In related news, the mayor of London goes climastupid

In an unusual municipal experiment aimed at fighting global warming where the rubber meets the road, the British capital in October is to begin imposing a $50-a-day carbon emissions fee on every gas-guzzling private vehicle driven in the central city.

What is really sad is that one of the people interviewed feels that they have no choice but to pay up. Shouldn’t government be responsive to the will of the People, rather then being tyrants? To lift a line from V, “people should not be afraid of their government. Government should be afraid of the people.”

And Los Angelos County wants to go climastupid, too

Nothing riles Southern Californians like a new tax on their God-given right to drive. Yet motorists in Los Angeles County might be paying an extra 9 cents per gallon at the gas pump — or an additional $90 on their vehicle registration fees. The purpose? It would help fight global warming.

Fortunately, the voters will get to decide. Well, until the politicians, and even possibly the courts, over-rule them.

Apparently some people have not yet noticed that the temperature stopped significant increase in 1998. If it wasn’t for that 22 year period from 1976 to 1998 when the atmospheric carbon dioxide level and average global temperature happened to increase at the same time, the term ‘greenhouse gas’ would be virtually unknown and Kyoto and the rest of the Global Warming Mistake would never have happened. As the atmospheric carbon dioxide continues to increase and average earth temperature doesn’t, the faulty predictions of the incomplete GCMs will continue to be exposed, the main-stream media’s global warming hype will cease, and many people are going to look more and more foolish. Anyone that would like to see graphs constructed using government data of actual climate history should look at http://www.middlebury.net:80/op-ed/pangburn.html .

Scientists in the U.K. have reported evidence that further refutes one theory of global climate change.

In the heated debate over global warming, there is an opposing idea, called the cosmic ray theory, which contends that climate change is simply caused by cosmic rays coming from the sun.
