Climate Cult Super Excited To Force Internet Platforms To Catch “Misinformation”

Funny, they call us Authoritarians and Fascism, but, they’re the ones doing all they can to shut down opposing Free Speech

Why Platforms Don’t Catch Climate Misinformation — and How to Change That

Green Climate Thought PoliceClimate misinformation presents a troubling paradox: while most Americans believe that climate change is real and human-caused, online misinformation continues to erode public trust in climate science. Many platforms lack specific policies addressing climate disinformation, and even those with policies in place struggle to enforce them effectively. Why do platforms fail to adequately address this problem, and what would it take to change?

Why? Because their job is to allow the free exchange of information, as long as it is not illegal stuff, like child p0rnography (which Democrats are fine with), not to censor people, for the most part. There are certain websites which certainly won’t allow certain points of view, like, say, The Democratic Underground (yes, it is still around). Heck, they barely tolerate squishy Democrats.

The problem is structural. Trust and safety teams typically operate within frameworks that triage based on three criteria common to risk management across domains: imminence of harm, likelihood of occurrence, and severity of impact.

What if platforms/sites do not want to take the cult view? Or be neutral? Hey, what if those “trust and safety teams” where made up of conservatives knocking down leftist content? Leftists would be OK with that, right?

TikTok offers an instructive case study. The platform maintains a policy stating that climate misinformation will be removed or suppressed from recommendation algorithms. In practice, enforcement seemingly remains minimal — not due to technical limitations, but because climate content moderation lacks the crisis urgency, institutional backing and political consensus that drive resource allocation within trust and safety organizations.

Or, because in practice they really do not care. Let’s skip ahead

Rather than pursuing a single solution, seminar participants identified several leverage points that could collectively shift platform behavior:

Regulatory action, particularly in the EU: Platforms operate globally and must satisfy the most stringent regulatory environment. European regulations on climate-related claims and content governance create compliance requirements that can have spillover effects in other jurisdictions. The United Kingdom’s Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act now allows sanctions for greenwashing without litigation — a model that could extend to platform-hosted content.

Surprise! They want lots and lots of laws and regulations to shut views down. Not that I am surprised in the least.

And then they want to go after advertisers, harassing and badgering them in the way Leftists tend to do, and a bunch of other stuff. But, it’s using government that should be concerning.

Wlliam keeps typing lies: “like child p0rnography (which Democrats are fine with)”

He is getting nervous about his savior.

Isn’t it PedoDon suppressing the investigations into his pedophile best buddy, Epstein?
Isn’t it PedoDon treating convicted child sex trafficker and friend Ghislaine Maxwell like a house guest?

Our “president” is handing out pardons like lollipops to trick-or-treating children. He’ll pardon Maxwell in exchange for her silence on the matter. PedoDon likes underage teen girls – 13-17. Just ask Ivanka.

Here’s what AI tells us about global warming…

“Yes, global warming is real, and the scientific consensus is overwhelming: over 99% of peer-reviewed climate science studies agree that climate change is happening and is primarily caused by human activities. Evidence includes the documented rise in global temperatures, which have increased about 1^C (1.7^F) since the late 19th century, with most of the warming occurring in the last 40 years. This is driven mainly by the burning of fossil fuels, which releases greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere.”

Morons on the American right believe/feel many (most?) things that are just not true. They believe in gods/demons/miracles/angels/prayer (and NOT that these delusions are mental disease), they deny that CO2 can cause the Earth to warm, they feel that transgenderism is a mental disease (yet the transgendered are real, gods are not, LOL), they believe that white people are inherently superior (morally, mentally) to non-whites, they have an irrational religious-like devotion to dishonest”strong-men” “leaders” (Putin, trump, Kim, Xi etc), they believe/feel vaccines don’t work, they believe that science is “rigged”, they believe LGBTQ persons are inherently immoral/inferior, they believe women do NOT deserve bodily autonomy, they believe minorities receive too many benefits!, they believe more guns = fewer crimes, they believe WE have the world’s best healthcare, they believe that liberals run an international pedophile ring.

Conservatism has driven and defended the worst injustices and societal poisons that have plagued the U.S. since its founding. To name just a few: slavery, racial segregation, oppression of women, and discrimination against LGBTQ people.

    • Jl says:

Sorry, there is no “99%” consensus”, not that it would make a difference anyway. “Evidence includes arise in global temperatures….driven mainly by the burning of fossil fuels..”. That is not cause effect evidence. As said before, there are other as yet unfalsified theories (that’s for Johnny), in addition to other periods in earth’s history where temps cooled when CO2 rose.
But onward-“Conservatism has driven..slavery, racial segregation, oppression of women, discrimination against LGBTQ people..”
Slavery was of course a Democratic thing. The Republican Party was formed to rid the country of slavery. And what “oppression of women, and what discrimination against alphabet people? Can you name any rights women and alphabet people don’t have that the rest of us do?

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Jilly again demonstrates their ignorance of science. Scientific theories do NOT rely on proof, but do rely on scientific consensus based on evidence.

Can she/he point to their proof of the theory of gravity?? That smoking causes cancer?? What proof do you have of evolution? Plate tectonics? Relativity?

Then Jilly conflates conservatism with the Republican Party, who used to be progressive!!!

And why are you asking rhetorical questions? They are despised at the Cove.

        • Jl says:

So, there’s no “99% consensus “ as you stated, and they do rely on evidence but not consensus, and you have no examples of oppression of women or alphabet people? How shocking. And did the Republican Party come into existence due to slavery? Yes Even you a few days ago said science depends on observation and repeated experimentation. Where are the CO2 experiments? As far as comparing gravity and gw, have there been periods in earth’s history where, as long there was an atmosphere, did things when dropped float upward? Temps have gone down while CO2 went up. “Smoking causes cancer”. Does smoking always cause lung cancer-no. Do people who have never smoked or inhaled second hand smoke get lung cancer-yes

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Sigh. The 99% consensus is because the evidence is persuasive to scientists. What “experiment” would you find persuasive? Atmospheric CO2 (and water vapor) absorbs infrared radiation and re-releases it, slowing its loss to space. This warms the air. Why is CO2 increasing? Burning the hydrocarbon chains of oil, gas and coal releases CO2 and water as byproducts. Globally, water vapor levels are self-regulating by precipitation – but warmer air can hold more water vapor. CO2 is NOT the only action that effects short term. Ocean currents, atmospheric aerosols, Pacific El Ninos and La Ninas can cause temporary increases and decreases in temperature.

Alphabet people? You mean LGBTQ, i assume. Do you support same sex marriage? Many conservatives oppose. Do you object to treatment for the transgendered?

Would you outlaw abortion? Most conservatives would. Do you agree with Little Peter Hegseth regarding females in the military? Do you support Medicaid not paying Planned Parenthood? Most conservatives do?

  3. Aliassmithsmith says:

Hasn’t Trump done his best to stifle all dissent from any media?
Hasn’t he called for the arrest of comedians?
I can’t recall you objecting to that

To cement Trump’s status as an elite he bought the beauty pageant Miss Teen International. The corporate sponsors eventually made him sell it because of too many complaints from the professional al chaperones about Donny perving in the dressing room of the children. And later even bragging about it
Teach mentioning/accusing “Democrats” as pedos? Not a really good point to bring up in any group chat

The primary concept in this paragraph is “online misinformation,” which assumes that the management of social media platforms are the arbiters of what is and is not misinformation.

Of course, the left tried the online censorship of Facebook and Twitter, right up until Elon Musk bought Twitter, and loosened their censorship rules. Then President Trump was re-elected, and Facebook had to admit that yes, the Biden Administration was pushing certain censorship on them.

The New York Times gave OpEd space to Chad Malloy¹ to claim that Twitter’s then ban on ‘deadnaming’ promoted freedom of speech, and Andrew Marantz, a New Yorket writer, to publish an article entitled “Free Speech Is Killing Us: Noxious language online is causing real-world violence. What can we do about it?” Those OpEds were published in 2018 and 2019, respectively, when the editors were aghast, appalled, and outraged that Donald Trump was President, and had gained that office thanks in large part to the free speech policies on Twitter. I find it amusing that the newspaper, so adamant in its defense of freedom of the press for itself, thought that other people’s freedom of speech and of the press should be subject to censorship.
