I thought the search of her home was about financial issues, for which I was wrong. But, could they be coming up?
Ilhan Omar raid sparks ominous prediction from watchdog: ‘They probably got the goods’
The federal raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C., home prompted warnings Wednesday from a conservative watchdog leader that more revelations could be coming, as the Minnesota Democrat faces separate investigations involving her immigration records and financial disclosures.
Oversight Project President Mike Howell, whose group pushed to strip a $1.031 million earmark backed by Omar, says the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) search raises broader questions about congressional accountability and what investigators may uncover next.
His warning comes as U.S. Attorney Jeanine F. Pirro confirmed on “America Reports” that her office is investigating the Minnesota Democrat’s financial disclosures, while separate reporting revealed that federal investigators had subpoenaed Omar’s relatives as part of an immigration-related probe.
“I think there’s other shoes that are going to drop here,” Howell told Fox News Digital.
“That’s why I think the Democrats really just couldn’t resist the temptation to jump out of this before they saw any evidence and just circle the wagons [around Omar],” he said.
While certainly the Credentialed Media has shown some support, mostly from a TDS point of view, yes, there is not a lot of rallying around Omar at this point. Like a lot of her Squad member Comrades there is not a lot of support for her
(Truthout) Days after the Trump administration’s unprecedented raid of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minnesota) house just weeks before the midterm elections, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) has not once publicly defended the progressive Democrat against the naked political prosecution.
You do not see much on social media from Democrats defending her. Let’s also not forget that this investigation started in 2024 under the Biden administration.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York) and other House Democratic leaders issued a short statement following the raid that called it “deeply disturbing” and said that it “raises serious questions” about the Trump administration’s “weaponization of the federal government.”
The statements are more about TDS than about protecting Omar. Perhaps Democrats are concerned that if her shady dealings with fraudsters in Minnesota will lead to their own involvement with fraud being uncovered? Back to first article
Howell’s warning extends beyond Omar to what he describes as a broader failure of accountability in Washington, where lawmakers can champion taxpayer-funded projects that later face questions about their legitimacy.
We all know that it is a big scam. Congress allocates funds to federal agencies mostly run by Democrat voters who then give a ton of money to NGOs and such who are friendly to Democrats because the agencies can’t do the job. Those recipients also can’t do it, so, they take their cut and spread it out to other who also can’t do the job and spread it out to other Dem friendly entities, and, eventually, the job may get done.
And then money makes it back to the campaign coffers of Democrat politicians. And, sometimes, the money makes it out there and rather than spreading it around they just fraud the hell out of it, keeping most without actually doing the job, as we saw in Minnesota like with the “Learing Centers.” And some politicians need to go to jail for being involved in this, wasting taxpayer money, to calm it down, because it has all become normalized at this point.
As part of his broader “institutional rot” argument, Howell argued that Omar’s earmark controversy is not unique, criticizing what he sees as lawmakers placing loyalties outside the United States ahead of their constitutional responsibilities.
“This isn’t normal. And it only seems normal because it’s been happening so much. And I think it’s about time we take the oath to the Constitution that members swear seriously,” he said.
