On Iran, Trump Keeps World Off Balance With Ever-Changing Threats
The world is on edge.
One minute, President Trump says the war in Iran is nearly over. The next he says it will continue for weeks. He brags that Iran has been “eviscerated,” but then vows that the fighting will go on. A huge bombardment, he says, might begin in five days, or 10 days, or on Tuesday at precisely 8 p.m. Eastern.
If the president means what he says, the world could be about 24 hours from a devastating escalation in the war. But like the producer of a television cliffhanger, Mr. Trump seems determined to keep everyone off balance.
On that, at least, he is succeeding.
Well, um, yeah. Should the president be giving a nation the US is at war with concrete assurance of anything other than that they’re going to lose? It’s like the whole media and Democrat talking point that President Trump hasn’t laid out his goals and plans for Iran, as if Trump is supposed to tell the Nazis when and where we’re invading on D-Day. That we’re going to bomb the shit out of Truk Lagoon. When we’re retaking the Philippines. That we’re bombing Japan’s mainland. Why do they want Iran to know our plans? Oh, right, they want Iran to win because Orange Man Bad.
In capitals around the world, presidents and prime ministers have spent almost six weeks seeking a way to prevent the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran from spiraling out of control. Diplomats from more than 40 countries gathered for a video call on Thursday that concluded with few concrete proposals. Leaders across Europe, Asia and beyond are exasperated, angry and more than a little spooked about what could be around the corner.
Strange, these same people have been against there being peace between Ukraine and Russia, and worked hard to try and get the war to spiral out of control. A war which includes a nuclear armed nation run by a guy they all say is a wackjob. Most of the same people stood against Israel as the nation went on a tear in destroying Hamas and other Islamic terrorist organizations. Huh.
In an emergency cabinet meeting on Monday, President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea warned, “The scars of war are expected to persist for a long time.” In an Easter message, Mr. Lee lamented, “The order of peace and prosperity that has sustained the world is weakening.”
In Japan, a country that is deeply reliant on oil imports from the Middle East, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said on Monday that she would seek direct talks with the Iranian government as soon as Wednesday. In France, President Emmanuel Macron complained last week about Mr. Trump’s constantly changing commentary, saying that serious people “don’t say every day the opposite of what we said the day before.”
Maybe they should be telling Iran to give up. To fully give up their nuclear weapons program, to stop supporting terrorism, stop repressing their people, especially women. It’s just absurd, though, to think that Trump is going to lay out everything for Iran to know.

trump, Putin and their MAGAt lackeys simply want Ukraine to surrender and once again become a Russian oblast! Without provocation, Putin invaded Ukraine killing 10s of thousands of civilians and 10s of thousands of his own troops. Putin has been attacking civilians and non-military installations – these actions are also known as war crimes – or terrorism if committed by non-state groups. Putin can withdraw his troops, bombs and missiles and the war will be over!!
Why trump and HIS lackeys like Teach want Russia to absorb Ukraine is problematic.
Without provocation, trump, Israel and the Saudis invaded Iran to: remove the threat of Iran to Israel, stop their development of nukes and ICBMss, save innocent Iranians from autocrats, take over their oil industry (3rd largest reserves) and/or distract Americans from trumpstein files.
The U.S. invading Iran and Russia invading Ukraine ARE similar.

One wonders: just how much more would have been required for the distinguished Mr Dowd to have seen provocation?
