Politico: The World Wants A Climate President Or Something

Are Americans supposed to care what the world wants? Anyhow, I thought Obama was the climate president? Or was that Biden?

The climate president in waiting
The world wants an American climate leader, and Gavin Newsom is happy to play the part — even if the country he represents isn’t quite ready to follow.

BELÉM, Brazil — Gavin Newsom can’t get out of a meeting or a talk at the international climate talks here without being swarmed by reporters and diplomats eager for a quote, a handshake, a photo.

On a tour Tuesday of a cultural center with Gov. Helder Barbalho, the leader of the Brazilian state hosting the talks, a passerby recognized them both. “There’s the governor,” he exclaimed. “And there’s the California governor.” Later in the day, as Newsom rode up an escalator packed with reporters and international officials on his way to deliver a speech, a bystander shouted: “The escalator’s not broken for you!” — a dig at President Donald Trump, who once had an escalator malfunction on him at the United Nations.

Newsom grinned wide: “Oh, I like that.”

The adulation was gold for a governor with presidential aspirations as he steps into a power vacuum. The Trump administration is trying to dismantle climate policies both at home and abroad, and other likely Democratic presidential contenders are absent from the United Nations climate talks. Seeing a chance to plant his green flag on an international stage, Newsom is embracing the role of climate champion as his own party backs away at home and the politics of the issue shift rightward.

This would be the same Gavin Newsom who flew over 5,000 miles on a private jet to BELÉM, Brazil, right? It’s all a gorgeous little bit of slobbering over Gavin from Politico, but, are Americans slobbering? Do they care about a “climate president”? Who’s 100% Trump deranged, despite Trump not running in 2028? Many Americans may care about ‘climate change’ in theory, but, when it comes to practice? Ask Jay Inslee, who ran his campaign in 2019-2020 as being a climate president and only that, and having to drop out early in the Democrat primaries.

Exposing Gavin Newsom’s Top 10 Failures

  1. Highest Cost-of-Living in the Nation
  2. Soaring Crime
  3. Worst Homelessness Crisis in the Nation
  4. Weakest Election Integrity in Nation
  5. Helping Human Traffickers While Creating a Border Crisis
  6. Failing Schools – And Attacks on Parents
  7. Negligence Creating an Insurance Crisis
  8. A Pattern of “Pay-to-Play” Politics
  9. Destroying Direct Democracy by Gutting Citizen Initiative Rights
  10. Failed Green New Deal Policies (Energy, Water Rationing)

That last one has led to much higher energy costs, especially as 30% of the used energy must be brought into California from other states. Gas prices are the highest in the lower 48. Water issues abound, such as the failure to have water available for the Palisades wildfire. For which barely any homes have been built and permitted to be built.

Under Gavin, there is water rationing, rolling brownouts and blackouts, and highest taxes in the nation. And so, so much more. Refineries are closing due to legislation and lawfare, not market forces. And

Newsom’s climate warrior image is backsliding, environmental groups say

As Newsom was touting himself as a climate change warrior in New York, back home in California a coalition of more than 40 environmental groups was chastising him in a sharply worded letter for, they said, backsliding on the issue.

“As Governor Newsom touts his climate record on the national and international stage, we must not let him forget that it takes more than words to be a climate leader,” Nicole Ghio, executive director of Food & Water Watch California, said in a statement accompanying the letter.

The Google AI blurb that led to this says

Gavin Newsom’s climate failures include vetoing a bill to protect environmental regulations, failing to prevent worsening wildfire seasons, and cutting climate funding. Critics also cite his administration’s actions, such as seeking potential bailouts for a refinery, and vetoing bills that could have reduced emissions or protected air quality.

Anyhow, good luck running on the climate scam.

We “warmists” lost. Give it up, fellow travelers!! The scientifically ignorant, illiterate, selfish and lazy won! Get used to it.

When things get worse – and things will get worse – “the people” then will have to deal with it. Pity them, not yourselves. Drill, baby, drill and live it up!

William imagines that Americans elect our presidents based on reason! LOL. Au contraire, mon ami! We vote based on feelings!

A plurality of Americans vote for whomever makes them feel better.

  3. drowningpuppies says:

They left out the part about Gavin fucking his campaign manager’s wife.

Figured Rimjob who is into others lasciviousness would enjoy that fact.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Dumb commenter typed: They left out the part about Gavin fucking his campaign manager’s wife.

Only when Big Donnie’s (or AG nominee Matt Gaetz’s) lasciviousness involves underage girls and sexual abuse. We’ll assume the campaign manager’s wife was an adult.

That said, a boss should never have sexual relationships with underlings. For example, Bill Clinton should not have screwed around with Ms Lewinsky, an intern.

BTW, Big Donnie has been calling in recalcitrant House GOPhers (e.g., Nancy Mace, Lauren Boebert to Situation Room!!!) to browbeat them into recalling their discharge petition votes.

      Cover Up!!

      • drowningpuppies says:

So Gavin really is a scoundrel unworthy of political office, huh Rimjob?

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Do you not understand how elections work, Dumb Commenter??

One of the worst scoundrels ever, Big Donnie, was elected.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

But Dumb Commenter raises an interesting point. When does the scandalous actions of a scoundrel become disqualifying for election?

Not constant lying. Not 34 felony convictions. Not adjudicated sexual assault. Not dementia. Not general assholery. Not fraud or theft. Not corruption.

Nope. Our electorate tolerates a lot!! But pedophilia. We’ll see.

Kwh cost in Cali is 2x as much as NC but avg monthly residential bill is only 25$ more per month. Pitiful? Nah. The average household income in NC is 97000 but in Cali it is 140000
So paying an extra $300 per year in residential electricity ???? Is ???

And longevity ? THE most important ??? NC is bottom 3rd CA top 20%
Plus !!??! Better surfin babes ! 50%lower obesity rates

It is almost like Teach is constantly showing regrets

    • drowningpuppies says:

California consistently ranks as having the highest electricity costs in the contiguous United States. The state’s average residential electricity rate is approximately 36.6 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is more than double the national average of 17.5 cents per kilowatt-hour.

  5. Aliassmithsmith says:

“soaring” crime ?? I am not sure what that actually means? Is it like “skyrocketing”???
Cali has a homicide rate of about 5 per 100000
NC Teach’s rehomed state is about 8 per 100000
Even math disadvantaged Teach can see that 5/8is a lot less than 8/8

In general poor red states have more crime than rich blue states. MS has a homicide rate 400%higher than Cali.

Blue states are safer and richer and live longer
Maybe? If need one is elected and run by a blue POTUS things will get better . Right now Americans are not happy with Trump

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Now, now… a poll today has trump approval at 33%

    • drowningpuppies says:

Upon further analysis, when 2024 statistics are compared to the 2023 statistics, this is where the problems begin. According to Crime in California 2023, 28 law enforcement agencies failed to contribute crime statistics to the DOJ, resulting in a crime undercount.

The California DOJ does not correct crime statistics once they are published, however, they do issue cautions that there may be errors in their reporting.
