But, hey, maybe they can save them as thousands fly into Nice for a nice working vacation
Oceans are dying. Can a UN summit in Nice turn the tide?
From 9 to 13 June, the coastal city of Nice will host the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), a high-level summit co-chaired by France and Costa Rica. Its mission: to confront a deepening ocean emergency that scientists warn is nearing a point of no return.
“The ocean is facing an unprecedented crisis due to climate change, plastic pollution, ecosystem loss, and the overuse of marine resources,” Li Junhua, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, who is also serving as Secretary-General of the event, told UN News.
“We hope the conference will inspire unprecedented ambition, innovative partnerships, and maybe a healthy competition,” he said, highlighting the need for international cooperation to avoid irreversible damage.
The pressure is on. UNOC3 is bringing together world leaders, scientists, activists, and business executives to tackle the growing crisis in the world’s oceans.
The goal is to spark a wave of voluntary pledges, forge new partnerships, and — if organizers succeed — inject a much-needed dose of accountability into the fight against marine degradation.
The thing is, there is some reality to this. There are serious problems with plastic pollution and overuse of marine resources. And straight pollution, though, it is much better than it was 40 years ago. Just leave the whole climate scam out of, though, guys, because you are going to bury all the real problems under the banner of the cult. Leave it out, and we can get most to agree on fixing issues.
And the damage runs deeper still. The ocean continues to absorb more than 90 per cent of excess heat from greenhouse gas emissions — a worldwide service that may be nearing its limits.
“Challenges like plastic pollution, overfishing, biodiversity loss, ocean acidification, and warming are all linked to climate change,” Mr. Li warned.

The world is DOOMED!….But, if you send us enough money, we can party hardy and not worry about it, while you go back to subsistence farming.

While I 100 percent agree with this, seriously. If the Democrats and Republicans cannot work together on anything without forcing the other side to comply. If country after country is fighting each other over silliness. How are 200 countries going to work to solve anything, let alone the ocean which most see as a:
Landfill for their trash
Food source
Military battleground
Recreational site
etc…etc…etc.
In other words, ain’t gonna happen. Who is gonna police one hundred countries dropping their junk in the ocean, over-fishing, and playing GOD when it comes to exterminating anything that moves in an ocean for countries that have throughout their histories relied on the ocean for sustenance?
Especially when the other leg of their tripod of world domination is to deny them energy to farm to feed their people. Having a world free of CO2 is hardly worth it if the entire world is at war with each other over food and resources.
Mr teach agrees with the U.N. that we humans are polluting, adding microplastics to, and overfishing the oceans, but that global warming is a scam*!!
Mr teach needs to relax. His hero, Mr trump, agrees that global warming is a hoax and a scam. Humans will adapt, as Mr trump proved by his decade-long attempt to build a seawall in Ireland to protect his golf resort from the effects of non-existent warming. Local Irish officials have blocked trump, who has ‘suggested’ sending U.S. Marine ‘warfighters’ to Ireland to build the wall (but after they finish fencing off Mexico and invading LA).

The UN should probably do something about China dumping their plastics into the ocean and strip mining it for food. Problem is, China doesn’t pay activists like the West does. Nothing to do with Climate. Everything to do with CHINA treating the oceans of the world like they own them.
Alas! The French girls have mostly given up going topless on the beaches in Nice, where Bridget Bardot got toplessness started in the first place, primarily because they don’t want their boobs to wind up on the internet, so the conference-goers will be sadly disappointed. Several hotels which are not directly on the waterfront, the Hotel Amour being one, have private sections fenced off, and the conference-goers can ogle older women tanning sans tops.
The beaches in Nice are mostly gravel, so bring your water shoes! The water, however, is almost crystal clear.
They might be topless under their burkas.
