How giving forests legal rights can help the fight against climate change
(Skipping through lots of twatwaffle)
Replicating this approach elsewhere requires a complete ideological shift about how we see forests. We must reshape the relationship between capitalism and life itself. A groundbreaking concept is emerging – bestowing legal personality upon forests, enabling them to act as legal persons in global discourse. This notion resonates with philosopher Bruno Latour’s “Parliament of things” and Michel Serres’ “natural contract”. Gabon is offering spiritual wisdom to its forests. Governmental policy is harmonized with nature. This approach can guide us toward a renewed dialogue. Our forests are not mere resources but as representatives demanding their rightful voice.
The approach of legal personality isn’t an idealistic idea only – it’s a path illuminated by history’s greatest thinkers. As capitalism faces an existential crossroads, it’s high time to embrace nature’s wisdom. Gabon’s example is profound: we must forge a capitalism that comprehends natural limits and respects the planet. The question isn’t whether we can – it’s whether we will.
In the face of our changing climate, rising inequality, and a world still grappling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to reimagine capitalism has never been more crucial. Harvard Business School Professor Rebecca Henderson argues that to create a sustainable and just future, we must foster a new relationship with nature, transform business models, and shift corporate culture.
It’s not just about doing the right thing; it’s about building a world that works for all – for all the earth’s inhabitants. Will we rise to the challenge and forge a new path?
You know, if they would just say “we need to protect our forests” I’d be with them. But, this gets entirely too wackadoodle and Modern Socialist. Cultish.
Legal rights to forests: You have the right to remain silent.
By whatever means necessary to preserve some forests!
Conservative Christian capitalists have the belief that the gods created the Earth for the exploitation by humans – not to live in equilibrium with the Earth but to command and consume it.
The human population is expected to increase another 20% over the next 50 years, leveling off around 10.3 BILLION.
And where did you get that belief about a religious group that you clearly don’t associate with? Sounds like a made up story created to demonize them.
But we do know about German eco-fascists cutting down forests to install a solar farm.
Yes, they win the award for vagueness in a post. But isn’t there a faction in the cult still pushing biofuels, which means “let’s cut down more trees!”
CNN PLEASE give this man his own show – for your own good! Scott Jennings shows how it is done!!

Another smart move.

Trup is not fucking around.
Most greenies are flat out insane. A small percentage aren’t….they are EVIL.
Anything to complicate and muddy the legal waters, hoping to leverage delusional judges.
So, they want to make forests ‘legal persons,’ but not yet-to-be-born children?
And that means forests take in the most carbon when they’re full of young trees that are still growing. “A mature forest has reached an equilibrium, where trees are dying and being replaced at basically the same rate,” says Harvey—so carbon exits these older forests about as quickly as it comes in.
What produces the most co2 from trees is the clear cutting of OLD FORESTS which have stopped sinking as much Carbon. For example Brazil which is now owned and operated by CHINA, is clear cutting the rainforest which is putting billions of tons into the air, because they are burning these trees to get rid of them.
So why the cult wants to protect these older forests is that these trees are full of co2. BUT to get that co2 back in the air means these trees must literally be burned which perhaps 10 percent are but the other 90 percent are used to make paper, build buildings etc which does not put a majority of their sinked carbon into the air. A log is cut into 2×4’s and 2×6’s etc…etc….not burned and thus releasing its co2.
So protecting old trees is not as life threatening in the USA as say Brazil which is clear cutting the lungs of the earth for cattle farms. If you want to save the world…Go to Brazil, KICK CHINA OUT and SAVE THE RAIN FOREST where they are cutting down massive co2 sinks and oxygen producers and replacing them with cows and buildings.
Not the USA which for every tree cut down by a lumber company you have 2-3 new ones planted in their place.
So again. It is just another way to make housing uber expensive so the left can move us all into HIGH RISES so we can be controlled by the government.
