Democrats Have Hissy Fit, Threaten To Pack The Supreme Court

It’s not the first time, they’ve threatened to pack the Supreme Court back in 2018 and 2019, because they’re sore losers.

Democrats Threaten To Pack Court If Republicans Vote On Ginsburg Replacement This Year

Prominent Democrats are threatening to expand the size of the Supreme Court to cancel out President Donald Trump’s court picks if Republicans vote on late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s replacement this year.

Left-wing activists have been pushing Democratic politicians to endorse court-packing since Justice Anthony Kennedy’s 2018 retirement cleared the way for Justice Brett Kavanaugh to join the high court. Some congressional Democrats embraced the idea following Ginsburg’s death Friday night.

“If Sen. McConnell and @SenateGOP were to force through a nominee during the lame duck session—before a new Senate and President can take office—then the incoming Senate should immediately move to expand the Supreme Court,” House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler wrote on Twitter Saturday.

“Filling the SCOTUS vacancy during a lame duck session, after the American people have voted for new leadership, is undemocratic and a clear violation of the public trust in elected officials,” added Nadler, a Democrat from New York.

“Congress would have to act and expanding the court would be the right place to start,” he said.

“If he holds a vote in 2020, we pack the court in 2021,” Democratic Mass. Rep. Joe Kennedy tweeted on Saturday. “It’s that simple.”

Well, not that simple. They’d have to pass a new law to do so, and the last time they tried back in 1937 because they were pissed off they lost a Court ruling it didn’t go so well for them. FDR tried to use all sorts of flowery language at the time to do it, and American citizens were not biting. Seriously, we’re still operating under the Judiciary Act of 1869 for having nine Justices.

You have all sorts of Dems, including Ed Markey, Chuck Schumer, Richard Blumenthal, and so many more having a breakdown, threatening to pack the court, and they should remember that if they win and manage to do it, they won’t always be in power. A GOP congress and President could reverse the law, fill the court with conservatives, pass a law to pack it more.

Republican Tennessee Rep. Chuck Fleischmann warned that packing the court would be “dangerous” and undermine the court as an institution.

“Court packing is a dangerous and shortsighted idea that will delegitimize our institutions — and that’s what the Dems are threatening to do if they don’t get their way,” Fleischmann wrote in a tweet.

Democrats do not care: it’s all about power, and forcing citizens to act and think in a certain way.

(Breitbart) On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) stated that voting on D.C. statehood and Puerto Rico statehood, expanding the size of the Supreme Court, and eliminating the filibuster will be “on the agenda” in discussions among Senate Democrats on how to handle Republicans moving forward with filling Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Supreme Court seat.

Hirono said, “There will be a conference call. But a lot of us are already thinking about what we can do, whatever tools we have. But at the same time, what’s really important is for everyone out there for whom Ruth Bader Ginsburg meant something…that they need to be parallel organizing. I know they’re already doing that. And everybody better vote. … In the meantime, we are going to explore every avenue to stop Mitch McConnell from stealing yet another Supreme Court seat.”

Apparently, having riots isn’t working for them. Bunch of sore losers.

Evergreen comment. It explains virtually ALL their activities.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

It’s perfectly legal for Congress to change the norm of 9 Justices. The filibuster rule is also a mere “norm”, not enshrined by law.

Congress can also declare D.C. and Puerto Rico states. Four new Dem Senators!!

Norms are for pussies! Real men wield their power, not hide from it!

As trump said yesterday, the people gave him the power in 2016 – elections have consequences!

If trump loses in 2020, and if the Dems gain a Senate majority, get ready for consequences.

It sure is which is why President Trump is considering bumping the number to 13 after he’s reelected.

“Congress can also declare D.C. and Puerto Rico states. Four new Dem Senators!!”

No Congress cannot. Read the law.

“As trump said yesterday, the people gave him the power in 2016 – elections have consequences!”

Referring to his power to nominate a new SCJ. Not to burn cities, finance riots and murder cops like you do.

“If trump loses in 2020, and if the Dems gain a Senate majority, get ready for consequences.”

We have to assume you mean to use violence against us, our families and our nation. What else could emotional midgets possibly mean?

      36,760,000 dead black babies!

Trump 2020 Stop the slaughter of black infants by Democrats!

When a similar scenario occurred four years ago, following the death of Antonin Scalia, the Republican-controlled Senate blocked Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. It was a controversial move, and Ginsburg had something to say about it: Ginsburg publicly called on the Senate to go through with the nomination.

“That’s their job,” she said in July 2016. “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the President stops being President in his last year.”

“Eight is not a good number for a collegial body that sometimes disagrees,” Ginsburg said on the issue a few months later during an event at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who was with her, agreed. “I think we hope there will be nine as quickly as possible.”

By Elwood continues the Democrat Tradition of obfuscation and hypocrisy. He’s good at it.

Kye vomits his same NuGOP BS.

With NuCons, it’s always projection. So no, the consequences that should frighten you are (1) an expanded Supreme Court (2) elimination of filibuster (3) statehood for DC and Puerto Rico.

It’s the NuCons and their violent followers who are promising revolt if they lose the elections.

This is the most important election for the creation of your dream right-wing white supremacist nation, and we know the dishonorable nuGOPhers will pull out all stops to “win” (i.e., maintain power). If, by hook or crook, the nuGOPhers maintain power this time, we’ll see crackdowns on “enemies of the state”.

trump projects again, “The only way the Democrats win is by cheating!”

ICYMI, you’re the one who always projects. Uncle Saul told you, Accuse them of what we do.

And anything little Jojojojo Kennedy has to say doesn’t pack much weight, even with the Demos. That’s just stuff for the rubes. One of whom is obviously you.

Now, the filibuster is dead and Harry Reid killed it. 2 new states aren’t going to change things all that much because the old big city states are going to start losing their power, thanks to incessant Demo taxes and riots.

It’s the NuCons and their violent followers who are promising revolt if they lose the elections.

That’s now what Reza Aslan is saying.

No, that’s what the Demos say.

No, it’s a Senate rule. Good Lord, you’re either ignorant or you think we’re as stupid as you are.

      No, it’s not a “declaration”, it’s also a law.

All Trump has said is this is the way the Demos would do it.

As always can dish it out, but can’t take it.

PS The last Demo who tried court packing lived just long enough to regret it.

  4. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Is it “fair” that the coming State of D.C. should have 2 reliably Dem Senators? It only has some 700,000 Americans! And covers only about an 8 mi x 8 mi area!

Maybe the GOP should pass a law requiring a state area to be at least 5,000 square miles? That would allow the GOP to block the threat of PR and D.C. and to kick Rhode Island out of the union! Or 10,000 sq mi!

    Vermont – 9,614 sq mi
    New Hampshire – 9,349
    New Jersey – 8,721
    Connecticut – 5,543
    Delaware – 2,489
    Rhode Island – 1,545

    D.C. stats:

    Population: 705,749 (2019)
    Area: 68 sq miles

    WY stats:

    Population: 577,737 (2018)
    Area: 97,818 sq miles

    • formwiz says:

DC shouldn’t have anything because it isn’t a state. And probably never will be, regardless of how much the Demos want it.

You come up with the most idiotic things.

    • Professor Hale says:

Or maybe some sort of rule permanently preventing DC from ever becoming a state. Let’s put it in the Constitution so it doesn’t get monkied with later. And let’s do it before there is even a Democratic party so no one thinks we only did that to have our own way in the Senate. Nah. No one is smart enough to think THAT far ahead.

  5. drowningpuppies says:

    Ahem.

A new poll conducted shortly before the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg revealed that an overwhelming majority of U.S. adults of all political stripes supported holding hearings for a nominee if a vacancy opened on the nation’s highest bench.

Marquette University released the survey results on Saturday that showed 67% of adults believed the Senate should hold a hearing if a vacancy occurred during 2020’s race, with only 32% opposition — and similar strong numbers across Republicans, Democrats, and independents, who supported holding confirmation hearings at 68-31%, 63-37%, and 71-28% respectively. The poll was completed three days before the death of Ginsburg, the 87-year-old liberal icon who was nominated by President Bill Clinton and confirmed in 1993. Ginsburg earned praise from Democrats and Republicans upon news of her death.

    • formwiz says:

Most people don’t really know what SCUS even does anymore, so the poll is probably useless (U.S. adults? get real).

If it ain’t likely voters, it don’t mean much.

PS Must have been one of the Hildabeast’s heroines. Who in their right mind would nominate someone 62 years old if they wanted them there over time?

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Are hearings even required for Senate confirmation of a Supreme Court Justice? The Constitution’s “Advice and Consent” doesn’t explicitly require it.

Couldn’t a Senate majority just confirm the nominee the moment the name is submitted to the Senate?

    • formwiz says:

Advise and consent is exactly what it says. You’d have to channel the ghost of Robert Byrd to find out if a hearing is required.

      • Professor Hale says:

It’s a valid point. We have learned from watching previous confirmation hearings that nothing is learned. They turn into pointless fora for making politically motivated attacks on the nominee and every single member of the Senate already knows how they are going to vote, even Romney. As I said back during the last confirmation, just vote already. Also, it doesn’t need to be done by November 3. Trump is the president until January. Republicans are fully empowered to do all of this even after the election results are known.

    Bwaha!

Just a reminder that Ruth Bader Ginsburg could have casually retired at 80 yrs old under Obama and been replaced by an ultra progressive in their 40s… but they chose not to. It’s not Republicans’ or Trump’s fault that they get the opportunity to push through a new justice.

  9. Elwood P. Dowd says:

The Marquette poll was conducted before Justice Ginsberg died.

After Justice Ginsberg died, the Business Insider poll found only 27% of Americans supported voting before the election.

    • formwiz says:

Business Insider is hideously anti-Trump, so I wouldn’t put massive stock in it.

      Jeff, man/ child,

Yes, we are concerned that a rational, conservative attitude could be lost in the coming months. But our concern is fostered in the overt actions of the communist/ liberals/ democrats to cheat or use corrupt methods to seize power. This is a critical election and the desperation of stupid people like you is evident. So, yes, we desire safety nets to protect the country from people like yourself.

I feel that Trump will have a landslide victory. Hopefully that will be supported with a healthy return to the rational with good majorities in Congress. But I never forget the corrupt methods of what used to be the a Democrat party. We are very close to open civil war and any measure that can be taken to protect the country from children like you should be taken.

The Manhattan DA is waiting for him. dave duke’s motivation is to oppress non-whites and to reinforce the supremacy of white guys. dave insists that Black Americans are stupid, lazy and violent, even while he collected millions from the government for supposedly treating them.

Why did all these issues get so much worse since Jan 2017? How many Americans died from Covid-19 in 2017? None. That’s right. Over 200,000 have died in 2019 and it could reach 250,000 by the end of the year. Wasn’t reducing federal spending once a cornerstone of American conservatives? It’s a record now, approaching $28 trillion in debt!! Were we in a recession in 2017? Nope, but we are now.

Are you better now than four years ago? Ha.
