HotCold Take: You Need To (Be Forced) To Give Up Soft Toilet Paper To Stop ‘Climate Change’

This should play well with the average person who either doesn’t care about Hotcoldwetdry or is just a soft adherent to the beliefs, right? All those people who aren’t even willing to pay $10 a month to stop ‘climate change’ won’t be thrilled (via Twitchy)

Soon enough they’ll merge the old “only use 2 sheets of TP” with “and it has to be harsh!” From the link we learn this is a campaign of the NRDC against super soft Charmin, and is all about the following petition

As a consumer concerned about our environment, I was upset to learn that Charmin toilet paper is still being sourced from 100 percent virgin trees, many of them from Canada’s boreal forest. It’s appalling that no recycled material is used to make Charmin.

Not only does the Canadian boreal forest store vast amounts of carbon, it’s also home to hundreds of Indigenous communities and to the iconic boreal caribou.

It’s unconscionable that majestic, old-growth trees are being cut down to make a product that’s used once, then flushed down the toilet.

Procter & Gamble has the power to change this destructive paradigm on a massive scale by reducing the virgin pulp content in its products and increasing the use of recycled materials. P&G should also involve Indigenous communities in sourcing decisions, act to protect caribou habitat, and take other important steps toward sustainability.

Please move quickly to ensure that your products don’t come at the cost of this globally important ecosystem.

Because if they don’t the “disposal and decomposition emits additional carbon”. Remember the days when Leftists wanted government “out of our bedrooms”? Now they want in every part of our homes, including our bathrooms. If they want to use recycled crappy scratchy rough TP, they are welcome to do so. Otherwise, mind your own beeswax.

Really, most of those trees are replanted. Loggers don’t want to run out of product, but, these Warmists are nuts.

These scolds have become pathetically tiresome. One big downside of the internet is how anyone with a self-important attitude can broadcast their idiotic opinions on anything to a much larger audience than would have been possible before the net existed. People who would not have been heard of outside of a neighborhood radius now can get a national (or global) audience.

Hmm, I wonder how much more would have to be added to the final cost of toilet paper that had been all recycled paper? And if so, would we customers pay more for this, or go for the best price?
Also note that the deciduous trees were left to grow and spread out. Only coniferous trees, which grow much faster, were harvested. And note that this was not a “clear cut” either.

  4. Harlan says:

Legalize the growing of industrial hemp. High quality paper and newsprint and a host of other products can then be made from a renewable source, freeing up trees for their true calling…toilet paper.

First they came for our Big Gulp
    And everybody just downsized.
Then they came for our light bulbs,
So we just paid more for less light.
Then they came for our straws,
So we drank directly from the glass and got herpes.
Now they want our soft Northern Quilted 3 Ply.
Who will stand with me and say “HELL NO!” to this travesty of civilization? They want to bring Somalia here to make Ilhan Omar comfy.

Trump 2020 To save our asses!

People who eat meat have less dense feces, which is softer and more likely to require more TP to remove; vegans have the densest poop, which leaves less residue on your butt.

Therefore, the government must immediately ban the consumption of meat, fish and dairy products, and force us all to become vegans, to have less poop residue on our butts, and save Mother Gaia.

Typical of leftists to equate Indians to wildlife. It’s like they don’t own property and don’t have self determination, they just roam the forests and then white men cut down their trees. What a leftist fantasy, completely racist and patronizing while pretending to care.

  8. Jl says:

What? They’re worried about trees being cut down? They conveniently forget all the trees being cut down for “biofuels”. Shocking..

  9. Professor Hale says:

Trees, like corn, are a crop. We cut them down and grow news ones. Unlike China, In America and Canada, we are growing new ones faster than we are consuming them.

Good news! In socialist paradise Venezuela, only the rich have toilet paper. All their trees are safe.
