WTW: Where’s The Fence?

Morning, y’all, Jebediah Murphy here on another beautiful White Trash Wednesday in the best country ever. And, I have to ask, where’s the fence?

(CNSNews.com) – A conservative grassroots group opposed to current immigration reform efforts in the Senate is to begin a national television ad campaign Wednesday calling attention to the 700-mile border fence approved by Congress last year but yet to be built.

Grassfire.org is asking Congress to "abandon its reckless amnesty agenda" by opposing the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act. Grassfire.org identifies itself as a "conservative, pro-family and pro-faith" organization comprising "hundreds of thousands of citizens."

Ron De Jong, communications director for Grassfire.org, told Cybercast News Service on Tuesday that before lawmakers "march on" to the next bill, they need to address last year’s bill authorizing a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

"They okayed a 700-mile fence last year, and they have not made good on their word," he said. "There is an agenda underway here to not enforce the borders."

De Jong said the ads will air nationally through Friday on Fox News and CNN, along with regional broadcasts targeting senators in Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Ya know, regardless of who is in charge of Congress, the law was passed. By what right does the Democrat Congress and President have to ignore the law? Upholding the Constitution and the law of the land is part and parcel of their jobs. Failure to follow the law sounds like an impeachable offense to me. If a police officer refused to arrest people for a law he or she didn’t like, they would be fired, right?

But Michele Waslin, director of immigration policy research at the National Council of La Raza, took exception to the ads.

"The ads ask: ‘Where’s the border fence?’ My question is: ‘Where’s your solution?’" she countered. "We know that increased fencing, border patrol and enforcement in general along the U.S. border have not solved the problem."

"Despite years of enforcement buildup along the border, the number of undocumented immigrants has continued to increase, and this is evidence that we need a more comprehensive solution," Waslin told Cybercast News Service.

"Reasonable people don’t believe you can deport 12 million people," she said.

Oh, bullshit. If you secure the borders to the best we can and make it very expensive to hire illegals, stop giving drivers licenses, health care, schooling, and sanctuary (like New Haven, Ct is now providing), we can nip the problem in the bud. Now, we won’t stop it all, but surely a major portion. Plus, we need some sort of monitoring system for those who come here legally, then overstay their visas.

Hopefully, Dingy Harry will shelve the bill and decide to enforce existing law.

Just install landmines one mile wide by 3,000 miles long, and let our C-130 Spectre gun ships and A-10 Thunderbolts experience some…+ live fire +… in Operation Splash El Toro! Or air drop millions of pictures with Hillary and Rosie O’Donnell in bathing suits…They’ll either go blind, vomit or retreat!

McCain tried the same “if you’ve got a better idea, let’s hear it” argument last night at the debate, and was equally wrong: if the choice is between the bad status quo, and a bill that makes things worse, I’ll take no bill for now until the Senate can cough up something serious, thanks. Any bill is good bill? The only good thing about an argument that bad is that it’s out in the open, and can be addressed as such.
