Bill Richardson Joins The Blame America Crowd

I suppose he is trying to increase his street cred with the Leftard base

I first called for de-authorization of the war in Iraq in January, and I have repeated that call all around the country — because I believe immediate de-authorization and removing all of our troops from Iraq this year is the only way to end Bush’s war.

Congress should de-authorize the war today and demand that the President begin redeploying our troops.

Surrender and bloviation. Exactly where and how do we "redeploy" the troops, Bill? As typical, a Democrat is long on rhetoric, short on plans.

I have left a comment over at the HuffPost asking what his plan is, but, as usual, the comment has not appeared yet. It has been two hours.

It begs the question, does he really believe what he is writing, or is he just pandering to the Hard Left, who believe that the only way for the Demcrats to win is for the USA to lose?

Now comes the blame part

This is essential, because our presence in Iraq worsens the violence and enables our enemies to portray us as imperialist occupiers. If we announce that we are getting out completely, we undercut this propaganda. We need to get all our troops out of the crossfire of this civil war.

See, it is all America’s fault. If we weren’t such bad people, we never would have deposed Saddam, stopped the torture, rape, murder, and geonocide that was implicit under his regime, and given 25 million Iraqi’s the chance at freedom.

Again, it begs the question, is he trying to satisfy the hard left base, who really runs the party, to boost his standing, which is way behind in the polls, or does he really believe that immediate retreat would actually boost our standing in the international community and get the terrorists off our back?

I must say, I thought Richardson would come out of the pack as the only rational, reasonable Democrat prior to this kind of pandering. Now, not so sure. He might have resonated at one time with middle America, now, he sounds just like a typical hard left surrender monkey.

Remember what Peggy Noonan wrote

Democratic leaders in Washington are in a worse position than Republican leaders in Washington. Neither likes their base, really, and both think they are smarter. But the Democrats think, deep down, that their base is barking mad. The Republicans don’t. They just think their base is a bore.

Like Ed Driscoll in the comments for this post at Hot Air, as well as See-Dubya, I know I have read the quote about "Democrats being scared of their base" somewhere recently, quite possibly in Bernie Goldberg’s newest book, Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right. regardless, they are scared of them, and their base is barking mad. Why else would Richardson cave and post his surrender/blame America nonsense?
