Good Grief: Nanny Bloomberg Calls For Gun Control In Wake Of Aurora Shooting

The Other McCain pulls out a great quote from Chris Rock

“What, you can’t be crazy no more? Did we eliminate ‘crazy’ from the dictionary? . . . When l was a kid, they used to separate the crazy kids from everybody. When l was a kid, the crazy kids went to school in a little-a– bus. They had a class at the end of the school . . . Just in case they went crazy, they would only hurt other crazy kids. And we was all safe.”

And then there’s Mayor Bloomberg

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, one of the nation’s highest-profile supporters of gun control, said Friday that “soothing words are nice ” but demanded that the presidential candidates “stand up and tell us what they’re going to do about” preventing mass shootings.

Asked about the shootings at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater showing “The Dark Knight Rises” that killed at least 12 people, Bloomberg said President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney need to offer specific policy proposals, in addition to prayers and sympathy.

“Soothing words are nice,” Bloomberg said during a regularly scheduled appearance on WOR 710 AM in New York. “But maybe it’s time the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they’re going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country. And everybody always says, ‘Isn’t it tragic?’”

OK, tell you what, Mike: you should disarm all your personal security and the cities police officers. Because of guns are the problem, then it is very bad to have so many people armed. There are over 36,000 sworn officers, most of who carry guns. And some carry scary guns known as “assault rifles”. What kinds of guns does your security detail carry, Mike?

It’s a damned shame that so many have to go for the political when a tragedy occurs. John Leguizamo has a problem with guns, except when they make him money through their use in movies. The Lonely Conservative points to how this tragedy is already being politicized. You have the left blaming Rush. You have commenters at The Booman Tribute trying to say this was racism (not BooMan’s fault). Melissa McEwan tries to pull the “this is all our collective fault” mule fritters.

And I’m not buying that shooter, James Holmes, was part of Occupy Black Bloc till I see proof. Also, the Occupiers have tried to distance themselves from OBB many, many times. They do not want these violent crazies around. So, even if Holmes is part of OBB, don’t blame the Occupy movement in general.

BTW, Obama gave a pretty good speech on the tragedy earlier, IMO. It’s too bad the audience was full of fools. Had the one kid in the white and blue striped shirt chuckling and refusing to bow his head during the moment of silence. People chanting 4 more years. Then the applause and smiles at the end like this was a campaign event rather than a solemn occasion.

What the hell is “Occupy Black Block”? My assumption is that it is an “occupy” group for black people?!?!? If so, then how can we say a white krispy kreme from creamy Aurora Colorado was a member? And who cares!!

You can’t prevent people from going batman-shite crazy after being sane for most of their lives. Some see demon possession. The mom stated right off that she knew it was her kid that did this even before it was really nationally known. So, does that mean he had mental issues? If so, does he have a history and was he being treated? Do we have another case similar to W.Virginia shooter?

Hey Bloomy?! Why not worry about your own city for once. Quit sticking your damn nose where it doesn’t belong. You keep on arresting soldiers who visit your city while gangs get stronger and stronger.

This from a man who blames restaurant salt and soda for obesity.

Instead of whining ol’ bloomy, try showing us the way.

  3. OBB is a very violent group of leftists, akin to anarchists (who vote for lefties who want lots of power in the hands of the government. Go figure), and latched on to the Occupy movement. Occupy doesn’t want them.

Thank you Andrea. Let me throw my hat in to the ring.

First off, I believe that the 2nd Amendment as you highlighted is stating two RIGHTS. One, a right to have a militia, and two, the right of individuals to be armed as well. For without the latter, you could not have had the former. And its still true today.

Second. Please note that Colorado, especially in central Colorado, it is as liberal as San Fran and New York. If not more so on alot of things. Liberal gun rights are not present there.

Third. Many states with carry permits actually REQUIRE that the offender actually places the gun-holder in direct danger before the gun-holder can respond.

    Fourth.

many of the defenders of gun ownership point the finger at Hollywood and the violence in the media and computer games instead

… umm no. That would be the liberals and Socialists and anti-gun zealots. They love to blame gun violence on anything and everything except for the gun-holder.

    Fifth.

Don’t you notice the irony of using the 2nd amendment as your argument for gun control, and in the same breath arguing for a limitation of free speech

Again, you are confusing parties. Conservatives and pro-gun activists are never the ones who want to shut down debate or take people off of the air for their viewpoints. That would be once again, your liberal and Socialist and anti-gun zealot buddies.

And Sixth. We do not use the 2nd amendment to argue for gun control. We use common sense. Unlike Democrats and Socialists (I repeat myself) who like to give everyone, including animals and dead people, the right to vote, we do not see giving everyone access to firearms. We understand that there should be some limitations.

And in this case that has gotten you so aggravated, those limitations probably would not have applied.

Seventh. Unless you live in Stalinist Chicago, Americans who are not felons do not need a “permit” to buy a firearm. It is a right enshrined in the Constitution. And yes, Chicago is in violation of a judge’s orders to stop forcing the buying permit on to is citizens. But then, when did laws matter to Democrat thugs from Chicago.

Eighth. I’ve heard that a local AMC Theater chain will now ban all costumes from opening nights. That was their solution to solving an incident like this.

Sorry, but he was not hiding these guns and smoke grenades in his costume. He snuck out the back door and then came back in with them from his car.

Thanks for your time, until the next massacre.

Can you be even more crass and cold-hearted?

  6. LD Jackson says:

It never fails. A terrible tragedy takes place and the liberals are all over it, blaming it on the right and using it as an excuse to push their liberal agenda of gun control.

  7. gitarcarver says:

    Andreas,

My question: Why is there never any of these NRA-card carrying citizens around when you need them? Never!

If you think this is true, you are woefully ignorant. People carrying weapons prevent crime every day.

However, Regal Theaters, the owners of the theaters in which this tragedy took place, do not permit weapons in their theaters.

Therefore, most law abiding citizens leave their weapons at home and leave the other law abiding citizens at the mercy of those who don’t care about the law or the legal wishes of the private property owner.

Why are you interested in protecting criminals and law breakers who wish to do others great harm?

My question: Don’t you notice the irony of using the 2nd amendment as your argument for gun control, and in the same breath arguing for a limitation of free speech, which is – it may surprise you – protected by the 1st amendment?

There is no irony because you misrepresent the argument. Conservatives recognize the rights of Hollywood to make movies that glorify violence. What we believe is that it is not moral or ethical.

Contrast that with the shallow thinking liberals who want to shut down free speech by law because they don’t like what is said. (The DISCLOSE Act and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission are prime examples of leftists trying to shut down free speech.)

So why are you against the Bill of Rights?

    Any other questions?

    • LD Jackson says:

I have yet to hear a satisfactory answer to this question from a gun control advocate.

“Exactly how is restricting my right to keep and bear arms going to stop a criminal from keeping and bearing his own arms?”

The proper answer is that it will do no such thing, but that goes against the liberal narrative, therefore such honesty is not allowed.
